Chirinos (8-4) allowed two runs on four hits with no walks and eight strikeouts across seven innings while earning a victory over the Orioles on Friday.

The Rays provided Chirinos with plenty of run support, so all he really had to do was last five innings, but the 25-year-old turned in his best outing since June 7. Before Friday, that was the last time Chirinos captured a win, but he's still been pitching well. Despite just a 2-2 record, he owns a 2.93 ERA in his last seven outings. Overall, he has a 3.11 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 107 innings this season. Chirinos will pitch next at the Yankees on Tuesday.

Rodriguez (10-4) gave up one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 in seven innings Friday against the Dodgers. He picked up the win.

Rodriguez quietly has a 3.34 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 37.2 innings over his last six starts. He generated a season-high 22 swings and misses in this start, with 11 of those coming off his changeup. Rodriguez will have a favorable matchup in his next start at home against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Clevinger gave up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six in five innings Friday against the Twins. He did not factor in the decision.

He was effective, but not particularly efficient, needing 92 pitches (56 strikes) to get through five frames. Clevinger has now allowed one run while striking out 15 over his last two starts (11 innings), and seems to have rebounded after a couple dreadful outings at the end of June. He will have a favorable matchup at home against the Tigers in his next start Wednesday.

Gibson gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out five in 3.2 innings Friday in Cleveland. He did not factor in the decision.

He got off to a good start, but labored in the fourth inning and was lifted after hitting No. 9 hitter Greg Allen with a pitch on a two-strike count. Gibson has acknowledged that he has been struggling with his mechanics recently, per Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, and that may have been the case again in this start, as he needed 80 pitches to get 11 outs. His next start will come Thursday against the A's.

German (11-2) tossed six scoreless innings Friday against the Blue Jays, striking out seven and walking none while giving up just three hits. He picked up the win.

He induced 13 swings and misses on his curveball alone in this outing, which is tied for the second-most by a Yankees hurler since 2008 (the pitch-tracking era), per Sarah Langs of MLB.com. German's hook may not have a national reputation yet, but it is one of the game's best breaking balls. He hit a bit of a rough patch in four starts from May 21 through June 7 (7.32 ERA, 1.53 WHIP), but has been mostly excellent this season. German will have a more challenging matchup Wednesday against the Rays.

Bundy, who gave up seven earned runs and recorded just three outs in Friday's start against the Rays, was dealing with some knee soreness, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Apparently his knee started bothering him while long tossing and in the bullpen prior to the game, but he attempted to pitch through it with awful results. Consider him questionable for his scheduled start Wednesday against the Nationals.

Kluber (broken arm) is awaiting clearance to throw his first bullpen session, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

He got the green light to start playing catch June 28 and has extended his throwing from 135 to 150 feet. His last checkup was positive, and he could begin throwing bullpen sessions later this month.

The Astros may use an opener ahead of Valdez's appearance Tuesday in Anaheim, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Assuming the opener does not give up runs, this would actually be good for Valdez's value going forward (in leagues that don't reward quality starts), as it would allow him to enter the game against the bottom of the opposing team's lineup and would improve his chances of qualifying for the win. Valdez has given up 15 runs while walking seven and striking out five in seven innings over his last three appearances for Houston.

Eovaldi (elbow) completed a 27-pitch bullpen session Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Eovaldi has progressed quickly in his bullpen sessions over the last couple weeks, which makes sense given his expected move to the closer's role requires much less buildup of his arm strength. The Red Sox have yet to determine what's next for the 29-year-old, but a simulated game or rehab outing appear to be on the horizon.

Medina threw six shutout innings for Low-A Charleston on Thursday, allowing two hits, striking out 10 and walking one in a 3-1 defeat for the RiverDogs.

Medina had been struggling mightily coming into the contest, with 16 earned runs to his name over his last three starts, but he was lights-out in this contest, recording his first double-digit strikeout effort of the season. Still, it's been a disappointing campaign so far for the 20-year-old, who has seen the control issues that plagued him in the Appalachian League last year persist in his first season with the RiverDogs, as he's issued 56 free passes in his 15 starts. Overall, he's sporting a 7.59 ERA and a 1.91 WHIP over 64 innings.
