Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Rangers' Drew Smyly: Won't start Friday
Smyly (ankle) will not start Friday against the Reds, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Smyly is dealing with an ankle sprain. For now, he'll be listed as a member of the bullpen, but there's a good chance he winds up on the injured list instead. He's hardly a significant loss for the Rangers at this point, as he owns an 8.40 ERA through 45 innings of work. The team has not announced who will start in his place.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Set to rejoin rotation Monday
Clevinger (back) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Monday against the Rangers, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Clevinger has been given the green light to rejoin the Indians' rotation after completing a pair of minor-league rehab starts with Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus. The right-hander looked sharp in his final rehab outing Tuesday, allowing just three hits while striking out five in 5.1 scoreless frames for the RubberDucks. Clevinger will look to pick up where he left off prior to landing on the IL with a back injury in mid-April; in two starts before getting hurt, he allowed just two hits while posting a 22:4 K:BB across 12 scoreless innings.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Twins' Martin Perez: Fans seven in no-decision
Perez didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Mariners, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings while striking out seven.
The southpaw failed to record an out in the sixth inning for the fourth straight start and was headed for his third loss of the year before a late rally by the Twins bailed him out. Perez will take a 3.97 ERA and 67:33 K:BB through 70.1 frames into his next outing Sunday, at home against the Royals.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Good form in first rehab appearance
Luzardo (shoulder) fired three scoreless innings in High-A Stockton's win over San Jose on Tuesday, allowing two hits and recording two strikeouts.
Luzardo's first rehab appearance couldn't have gone much better, with the left-hander firing 24 of his 33 pitches for strikes. Luzardo had been progressively building toward a rehab assignment in recent weeks with a diet of bullpen and live batting practice sessions. He'll likely slot in for at least another couple of rehab outings before activation is considered.

John Means SP | KC
Orioles' John Means: Notches sixth victory
Means (6-4) earned the win versus the Blue Jays on Tuesday by allowing one run on four hits across five innings. He struck out seven and walked three.
Means gave up a solo homer to Eric Sogard to start off the game but was otherwise able to keep Toronto off the board while working through five frames. The southpaw has thrown at least five innings and allowed three runs or fewer in seven straight starts, and he will look to extend that streak Sunday against the Red Sox.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Yankees' James Paxton: Rocked by Mets
Paxton (3-3) was handed the loss after surrendering six runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings during Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets. He struck out one and walked two.
Paxton was booed off the mound at Yankee Stadium as he delivered his worst start of the season. Pete Alonso blasted a three-run homer in the first inning before Paxton recorded an out, which more or less summed up the rest of the evening for the left-hander. The 30-year-old has a 4.04 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 64:20 K:BB through 10 starts and will look for a rebound performance Monday versus the Rays.

Spencer Turnbull RP | TOR
Tigers' Spencer Turnbull: Looks good in no-decision
Turnbull tossed six scoreless innings but did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Royals. He allowed four hits and two walks while striking out five.
Turnbull departed after his six stellar innings with a 2-0 lead, but the Royals promptly scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to saddle the righty with a no-decision. Run support has been lacking for Turnbull, as he's allowed just three runs in his last two starts combined (11 innings pitched), but the Tigers scored a total of two runs in those games. As a result, the 26-year-old is carrying a 2.78 ERA though he only has a 3-5 record to show for it. Turnbull will look for some better luck in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against Cleveland.

JC Ramirez SP | LAA
Angels' JC Ramirez: Next rehab start Wednesday
Ramirez (elbow) will make another rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Salt Lake, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The rehab outing will be Ramirez's third -- and second with Salt Lake -- as he makes his return from Tommy John surgery in April 2018. The 30-year-old threw 69 pitches in his last start and may need a couple more minor-league appearances to continue building up his arm strength.

Andrew Heaney RP | LAD
Angels' Andrew Heaney: Starting Friday
Heaney is scheduled to start Friday's game versus the Rays, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Heaney could have pitched Thursday if the Angels wanted to slide him up in the starting rotation, but he'll instead receive the extra day of rest. The 28-year-old has a 5.40 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and an impressive 28:3 K:BB through his first three starts, though he's also already served up six homers.

Jose Suarez RP | ATH
Angels' Jose Suarez: Set for another start
Suarez is scheduled to start Saturday's game at Tampa Bay, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Suarez struggled with his command in Sunday's outing but flashed his potential and will receive another turn through the starting rotation. The 21-year-old has allowed five runs on nine hits across 10.1 innings with a 10:5 K:BB in his first two major-league starts.
