Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Pitches well in no-decision
Giolito allowed one run on two hits and three walks while striking out six over seven innings in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rays.
Giolito pitched brilliantly through seven innings, but gave up a leadoff double to begin the eighth and was pulled after 99 pitches with the White Sox up by two. The bullpen couldn't protect the lead, snatching the win from Giolito. The outing was good enough to get his ERA under 6.00 for the first time since Apr. 12, and the right-hander has tossed four quality starts in his last five appearances. His next start comes Tuesday at home against the formidable Yankees.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Whiffs 14 in win
Verlander (11-6) allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out 14 over 7.2 innings in Friday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.
Verlander was touched for a leadoff home run by Joc Pederson in the home half of the first inning, then shut down the Dodgers, who did not have a runner reach second base against him the rest of the way. This was the third consecutive start and fifth over the last six that Verlander has allowed two or fewer runs. His next turn is scheduled for Thursday at home against the Mariners.

Mike Clevinger RP | PIT
Indians' Mike Clevinger: Fans six in no-decision versus Angels
Clevinger allowed three runs on five hits while striking out six across six innings but didn't factor into the decision Friday against Los Angeles.
Clevinger turned in a quality outing, but after surrendering two home runs to Shohei Ohtani, he would exit a 3-3 ballgame. Clevinger has had a tough stretch of starts recently, as he's been saddled with the loss in four of his previous five performances (16 runs over 35.1 innings). He'll head into his next appearance Wednesday against Minnesota with a 3.48 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 139 strikeouts through 139.2 frames.

Juan Nicasio SP | TEX
Mariners' Juan Nicasio: Heads to DL
Nicasio was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday due to right knee inflammation, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
It's unclear as to when Nicasio started to feel symptoms, but he'll move to the shelf for at least 10 days. He dealt with a similar issue earlier in the year, but managed to return from the disabled list after missing the minimum. The 31-year-old has accrued a 6.00 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 53 strikeouts over 42 innings as a reliever in 2018. Chasen Bradford was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Andrew Heaney RP | LAD
Angels' Andrew Heaney: Saddled with loss vs. Rays
Heaney (6-7) surrendered four runs on six hits while fanning five across six innings Thursday as he took the loss against Tampa Bay.
Heaney cruised through the first three innings without allowing a run, but he fell apart in the fourth when he gave up all four of his runs on the day. Despite taking the loss, he's managed to work deep into ballgames of late, tossing six or more frames in each of his past seven outings. Heaney owns a 3.75 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with a 116:32 K:BB through 122.1 innings in 2018.

Brad Keller RP | PHI
Royals' Brad Keller: Fans nine in no-decision
Keller allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine over 6.1 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Thursday.
He got 15 swinging strikes on 104 pitches en route to a career-high strikeout total. It's not something that he should be expected to do with regularity -- Keller entered the game with a 5.3 K/9 on the year -- but his ability to keep the ball on the ground and limit home runs at least has Keller on the radar as a streaming option in deep mixed leagues. The 23-year-old lines up to face the Cubs in his next start.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Confirmed for Saturday's start
Snell (shoulder) will start Saturday's game against the White Sox, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
Snell was placed on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder fatigue July 23. After completing a bullpen session Wednesday without issue, manager Kevin Cash confirmed that Snell will be activated for Saturday's contest. He owns a 2.27 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 134:47 K:BB over 119 innings this season.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Yankees' Lance Lynn: Slots into starting rotation
Lynn was promoted to the starting rotation Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
Lynn will take over for Sonny Gray, who will transition to a bullpen role moving forward. Lynn made his team debut Wednesday out of the bullpen, as he turned in 4.1 scoreless innings against the Orioles. His next scheduled start figures to come Monday vs. the White Sox.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Yankees' Sonny Gray: Shifts to bullpen role
Gray will be deployed out of the bullpen moving forward, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.
Manager Aaron Boone stated that he was considering using Gray in relief following Wednesday's outing, and he'll officially transition to a new role as of Thursday. If he manages to find his footing on the hill, there's a good chance the Yankees could move him back into the starting rotation. Gray will search for greater success out of the bullpen after making 21 starts in 2018.
