Deck McGuire SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Deck McGuire: Recalled from Buffalo
McGuire was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
McGuire will take the roster spot of Jaime Garcia, who was placed on the 10-day DL with left shoulder inflammation in a corresponding move. There's a chance McGuire will toe the rubber in Garcia's place during Sunday's game against Oakland, but Sam Gaviglio is also a candidate to draw the start. Over his past four starts with Buffalo, McGuire has posted a 1.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with a 23:9 K:BB across 25 innings.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Unlikely to pitch before Saturday
Hamels (neck) said he does not think he'll be able to pitch before Saturday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Hamels became a topic of discussion when he was scratched from a scheduled start Thursday. A day off earlier in the week allowed manager Jeff Banister to move up starters Doug Fister (Thursday) and Matt Moore (Friday) while maintaining their five-day routines, but a decision about Saturday's starter has not been announced. If Hamels can't go or the team wants to be cautious with the left-hander, it could call on minor leaguer Austin Bibens-Dirxx, currently scheduled to start Friday for Triple-A Round Rock, to pitch Saturday. The Rangers could also place Hamels on the disabled list retroactively to May 12, meaning he'd be eligible to return in time for Tuesday's start against the Yankees.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Sharp in no-decision
Boyd didn't factor into the decision against Seattle on Thursday, despite a strong outing that saw him yield two earned runs on six hits over six innings with nine strikeouts and a walk as the Tigers eventually prevailed 3-1.
The 27-year-old left-hander just continues to put up solid stat lines, as this marked his third quality start in his last four outings and the fifth time in his eight starts this year that he's held his opposition to two or fewer earned runs. He now has a 3.19 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP through 48 innings to go along with a 41:13 K:BB, so Boyd is providing all-around solid fantasy returns in the early going. It would be understandable to be wary of expecting him to keep this up all season since he's coming off a campaign that saw him log a 5.27 ERA in 135 innings and he has a 5.18 mark for his career, but for the time being, Boyd is throwing it like a pitcher that deserves to be on fantasy rosters.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Posts strong outing against Tigers
Gonzales didn't factor into the decision against Detroit on Thursday, scattering five hits and allowing one unearned run over 5.2 innings, striking out two and walking one as the Mariners eventually fell 3-2.
Gonzales was able to shut down the Tigers in this contest but he wasn't rewarded with a victory as counterpart Matthew Boyd had an equally sharp outing for Detroit. It was a solid showing for the left-hander and he's demonstrated good control with a 43:9 K:BB but he's got a 4.66 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP through 46.1 innings and opponents are hitting .312 off him so far this year, so the 26-year-old will remain a risky fantasy stream until he starts to limit the baserunners and improve on those ratios.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Parameters for Friday rehab start established
Eovaldi (elbow) is slated to throw either three innings or 50 pitches in Friday's rehab start with High-A Charlotte, Jay Paris of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander will also remain with the Stone Crabs for a bullpen session, after which the Rays will likely hone in on a more definitive return date for Eovaldi. Irrespective of what transpires Friday, it appears manager Kevin Cash is leaning toward at least one more minor-league rehab outing for the veteran. "Then we will see where he's at," Cash said. "We're probably another rehab start away from making a decision."

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Bullpen session on tap
Chirinos (elbow) is slated to throw a bullpen session Friday or Saturday, Jay Paris of MLB.com reports.
Chirinos has been on the disabled list since May 1 and was originally projected to be out a full month. He may be trending slightly ahead of schedule, but that much will likely be either corroborated or disproven in the upcoming session. The 24-year-old sports a 3.71 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over his first 26.2 big-league innings.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Slips up in Thursday loss
Gausman (3-3) took the loss Thursday against the Red Sox, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out six.
The right-hander unsurprisingly ran into trouble against Boston's elite lineup. Though Gausman rattled off three scoreless innings after a two-run first, a four-run rally -- capped by a three-run blast from Xander Bogaerts -- kept him from finishing the fifth. On the bright side, this was the first time Gausman had allowed more than three runs in a start since his season opener April 1, and he had notched a quality start in five of his previous six assignments. He still sports a useful 3.88 ERA on the season and should have an easier go of it against the White Sox on Tuesday to initiate a scheduled two-start week.

Christian Bergman SP | SEA
Mariners' Christian Bergman: Sent back to minors
Bergman was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.
Despite tossing seven scoreless innings in a spot start against the Rangers on Wednesday, Bergman will head back to Tacoma as the Mariners look to bring in a fresh bullpen arm (Ryan Cook). Given his strong performance Wednesday, Bergman should remain one of the team's top options when a starter is next needed.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Begins rehab assignment Saturday
Rodon (shoulder) will embark on a rehab assignment with Low-A Kannapolis on Saturday, Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald reports.
Rodon has been pitching in extended spring training since the end of April and will likely require a couple stints in the minors before making his 2018 debut with the White Sox after undergoing shoulder surgery in September. If all goes according to plan, Rodon could return to the big leagues near the end of May.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Scratched from Thursday's start
Hamels has been scratched from Thursday's start against the White Sox due to neck stiffness.
Doug Fister will move up in the rotation to start in Hamels' place Thursday, leaving Friday's starter to be determined. The severity of the issue remains unclear at this point.
