  • Kyle Gibson SP | BAL

Twins' Kyle Gibson: Takes sixth loss Thursday

Gibson (4-6) allowed five runs -- three earned -- on six hits and a walk while striking out just two batters through 5.2 innings during Thursday's loss to Boston.

While the former first-round pick has turned in a few strong outings this season, it's nearly impossible to rely on Gibson with any degree of confidence. After all, he sports a crippling 6.11 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 5.9 K/9. He projects to make a home start against the Angels in his next start.

  • Jay Groome SP | SD

Red Sox's Jay Groome: Throws five no-hit innings

Groome (back) allowed two walks and struck out six over five no-hit innings for short-season Lowell on Thursday.

This was Groome's third start at Lowell after suffering a latissimus injury during his first start for Low-A Greenville back in April.

  • Felix Jorge SP | MIN

Twins' Felix Jorge: Tabbed as Saturday starter

Jorge will be recalled to start Saturday against the Royals, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.

The move will officially be made closer to first pitch of Saturday's doubleheader, but the fact remains that Jorge will make his big league debut against the Royals despite having never pitched above Double-A. Jorge has pedestrian numbers spread over the course of the season, but he's turned things around over the last month. He has a 2.54 ERA with 32 strikeouts and six walks in his last six starts spanning a total of 39.0 innings. Even if Jorge pitches well against the Royals, there's no guarantee he'll stick in the rotation beyond Saturday.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Dominant in win over Rangers

Kluber gave up one run on three hits and one walk while striking out 12 over eight innings in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

The 31-year-old closed out the month of June with another dominant performance -- his fourth straight double-digit strikeout game. Kluber has been on an incredible run since returning from a month-long absence due to a back issue, posting a 1.26 ERA over six starts. After a somewhat disappointing first month (4.19 ERA in April), Kluber has put himself firmly back among the elite. In fact, this may be the best version of Kluber we've seen yet.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Makes progress during rehab appearance

Bassitt (elbow) felt good following his inning of work Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Bassitt still has a few more weeks to go before getting back to the big leagues, but the right-hander felt "as good as he has in quite some time" according to manager Bob Melvin. During his first rehab appearance since suffering a setback in late May, Bassitt was able to strike out two batters while facing the minimum at High-A Stockton. The 28-year-old is set to earn another one-inning outing soon.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Aiming to throw this weekend

Keuchel (neck) will try to throw off the mound this weekend, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.

Although Keuchel is unlikely to return until after the All-Star break, the southpaw wants to get back on the mound against the Blue Jays next weekend. The key here will be if Keuchel is able to provide a good showing off the mound this weekend, but even in that case, he would likely need a rehab start before coming back to the big leagues. With the Astros leading the way in the American League by a healthy margin, it remains a safe bet that their ace will remain out until after the All-Star Game.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: Blanks Dodgers through six

Meyer pitched six scoreless innings with just a single hit allowed but also walked five batters during Wednesday's win over the Dodgers. He didn't factor into the decision.

Meyer threw just 54 of 99 pitches for strikes, and issuing free passes continues to be a weakness. He owns a 1.41 WHIP and 6.0 BB/9 for the year, which limits his fantasy upside. Meyer's 3.74 ERA and 10.1 K/9 are both solid marks, though, and he owns tremendous upside. He's a candidate to take a huge leap forward if his pitch command improves, and especially since he's already showcased the ability to miss bats. A road date with Minnesota is up next for Meyers.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: First Triple-A start coming up

Musgrove will start for Triple-A Fresno on Friday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

This will be Musgrove's first start since he was demoted from the Astros over the last weekend. Musgrove will need to use his time with the Grizzlies to correct himself, but even if he does, there's no guarantee he'll be back in the majors. Dallas Keuchel (neck), Charlie Morton (latissimus) and Collin McHugh (elbow) all are nearing a return to join Lance McCullers in Houston's rotation. Beyond that, Mike Fiers and Brad Peacock each look like they belong there as well. It's time for Musgrove to take care of what he can control and let the situation play itself out.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Hit with loss despite quality start

Darvish (6-6) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk over six innings to take the 5-3 loss to the Indians on Wednesday. He struck out six.

Darvish was tagged for all three runs in the first three innings before settling in to notch his 12th quality start in 17 tries this season. According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Darvish said his triceps, which tightened up during his last start, were on the back of his mind early on, but not to the point where it altered his pitches. He said he felt fine after throwing 101 pitches. The 30-year-old, who owns a 3.11 ERA and 115:37 K:BB ratio in 107 innings this season, is lined up for two starts before the All-Star break; Monday against the Red Sox and July 9 against the Angels.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Burned by walks, errors in season debut

Rodon (0-1) gave up three runs -- all unearned -- on two hits and six walks over five innings in a losing season debut Wednesday against the Yankees. He struck out two.

A biceps injury kept Rodon out for almost three months to start the season, and his return saw him struggle mightily with his control, throwing only 41 of 94 pitches for strikes. We'll give him a mulligan for his first game back, but expectations should remain tempered for Rodon -- while he should round into a decent source of strikeouts, it's hard to expect great ratios until he's able to demonstrate some refinements to his game.
