  • Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Leaves Saturday with apparent injury

Odorizzi left Saturday's game in the bottom of the second inning with an apparent injury, the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reports.

He threw two practice pitches and was removed before facing a hitter in the second inning, getting replaced by Erasmo Ramirez. His status will be updated when the Rays specify the nature of the injury.

  • Alec Asher SP | MIL

Orioles' Alec Asher: Turns in tidy outing against Jays

Asher allowed just a single run on three hits and a walk while striking out five batters over 6.1 innings in a loss to Toronto on Saturday.

The 25-year-old righty didn't factor into the decision, but he definitely strengthened his case to make another start with Saturday's solid showing. Asher posted an impressive 2.28 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through 27.2 innings over five starts last year with Philadelphia, so he's a pitcher to watch in deeper leagues. He could provide excellent value in daily contests against the right opponents, too.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Improves in second career start

Mejia gave up one run over five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Friday. He struck out four and walked three.

Mejia improved after his first career start, when he gave up two earned runs and lasted just 1.2 innings. He'll need to improve his control to stay in the rotation as he has five walks in 6.2 innings this year.

  • Alec Asher SP | MIL

Orioles' Alec Asher: Recalled for Saturday start

Asher was recalled by the Orioles on Saturday and will start against the Blue Jays.

Asher has long been considered a candidate to take the fifth starter spot once an arm was needed. The young right-hander impressed throughout spring training and has already demonstrated his ability to pitch in the majors, compiling a 2.28 ERA and 13 strikeouts over five starts with the Phillies last season. Asher may only be with the Orioles until Chris Tillman (shoulder) is able to return to the rotation, but chances like Saturday's will provide the 25-year-old with a tremendous opportunity to make his case for a long-term promotion.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Dominant for third straight start

Keuchel (2-0) struck out seven and gave up one earned run on four hits and two walks over seven innings in a 7-2 win over the Athletics on Friday.

Keuchel now boasts a 0.86 ERA through three starts, with the 29-year-old lefty giving up only his second run of the season in the second on a home run by Khris Davis. It turned out to be Keuchel's only mistake of the night, as he turned in a third straight seven-inning effort to open 2017. The southpaw has done a particularly effective job of keeping the ball down, with his groundball/flyball ratio now at 40:15 through 21 innings. Keuchel will try to keep the momentum going in a Wednesday home matchup against the Angels.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Allows one run in no-decision Friday

Perez earned a no-decision in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners, allowing one run on six hits and four walks across five innings with four strikeouts.

While Perez allowed just one run on a solo homer to lower his ERA to 2.20, the results could have been dramatically different. He routinely put men on base and escaped two innings with double-play grounders before relying on the bullpen to get him out of a jam with two men on and none out in the bottom of the sixth. The left-hander did lead the MLB in double plays induced last season, but this was partially due to his propensity to put men on base, as his 1.78 WHIP suggests. Perez could face trouble down the line if he doesn't improve in this regard, and he will look to do so Wednesday against the Athletics.

  • JC Ramirez SP | LAA

Angels' JC Ramirez: Crushed in first big-league start

Ramirez (2-1) pitched five innings in Friday's loss to the Royals, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Ramirez's first career start didn't go well from the get-go. The right-hander surrender a two-run homer on just his third pitch of the evening. Ramirez was simply catching too much of the plate, something survivable as a reliever but certainly not as a starter. The 28-year-old is slated to make another start in place of Garrett Richards (biceps) on Wednesday in Houston.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Orioles' Wade Miley: Controls Jays for first win

Miley (1-0) allowed three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out eight Blue Jays in Friday's win.

After walking seven batters and showing a complete lack of control against the Yankees five days ago, Miley apparently found his command during the subsequent off days. Friday, the left-hander issued zero free passes while striking out eight or more for the seventh time in his career. There were a few bumps early in the contest against the Jays, but the 30-year-old looked strong overall and gave his owners a reason to be optimistic moving forward. Miley will take the ball next in Cincinnati on Thursday.

  • Andrew Heaney RP | LAD

Angels' Andrew Heaney: Moved to 60-day DL

Heaney (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Friday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

The left-hander is going to miss the entire 2017 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery last summer, so it comes as no surprise that he was transferred to the 60-day DL when a 40-man roster spot was needed. While Heaney keeps his focus on 2018, Deolis Guerra will take his spot on the 40-man.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Earns first win of 2017

Gausman (1-0) tossed six innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three in Thursday's victory over Toronto.

Gausman's quality start pushed him to his first win in nine career appearances at Rogers Centre. The right-hander did an excellent job eliminating the home-run happy environment as a factor by recording 11 of his 18 outs on the ground, including one double play. Thursday's performance was far and away Gausman's best in three starts this season, although he continued to post frustrating K:BB marks. Through 16 innings, the 26-year-old has 11 strikeouts and nine walks. He'll look to capture back-to-back wins when he takes the hill in Cincinnati for his next start Wednesday.
