  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Three scoreless innings in Friday start

Paxton fired three scoreless innings in Friday's Cactus League tie with the Rockies, surrendering three hits and a walk. He struck out four.

The Mariners' No. 3 starter wrapped up spring in fine fashion and finished the exhibition slate with a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and sparkling 15:2 K:BB over 12 innings across three starts. Paxton will look to pitch a full season for the first time in his career after topping out at 121 innings in 2016.

  • Vicente Campos SP | PIT

Angels' Vicente Campos: Will be placed on DL

Campos is dealing with nerve issues in his arm and will be placed on the 10-day disabled list, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.

There's yet to be any news regarding the severity of his ailment, but more information should be available in the coming days. Campos pitched just two innings over two games this spring, during which he allowed five runs on three hits, two of which were home runs.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Lands on DL

Gray (back) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, as Gray was always expected to miss the first couple weeks of the season before rejoining the Athletics' rotation. He threw off flat ground Saturday and everything felt great, so a return to mound work may not be far off. The 27-year-old is still hoping to be back mid-to-late April.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Officially placed on DL

Bassitt (elbow) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday.

This is simply procedural, as Bassitt was never expected to return to game action until late May or early June after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Given the depth of Oakland's rotation, the 28-year-old will likely see a prolonged stint at Triple-A when he is fully healthy.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Staying in Glendale

Rodon (biceps) is on a throwing program and will remain at the White Sox training complex in Glendale, Arizona, before he's re-evaluated around April 10, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "He feels pretty good right now, actually,'' general manager Rick Hahn said Saturday. "The pain has subsided.''

Hahn also mentioned the likelihood of a rehab assignment, so it's sounding like Rodon could miss at least two turns through the rotation, possibly more, to start the season. That would enhance the fantasy value of whichever starter is named to fill in for Rodon -- either Dylan Covey or Anthony Swarzak.

  • Frankie Montas RP | NYM

Athletics' Frankie Montas: Makes Opening Day roster

Montas earned a spot on the A's Opening Day roster, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The A's are keeping eight men in the bullpen to start the season, which allows Montas to break camp with the big-league club. Montas made a strong case for a roster spot throughout the spring, allowing just one earned run over 11.2 innings while striking out 13 batters. The A's have yet to officially tab a closer, but veterans Ryan Madson, Sean Doolittle and John Axford are all likely ahead of Montas in the pecking order.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Athletics' Sonny Gray: Throwing flat ground session Saturday

Gray (back) will throw off flat ground Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Saturday marks a step in the right direction for Gray after he had been limited to playing catch and long toss of late. Slusser notes that if Gray's flat ground session goes off without a hitch, he could progress to throwing off a mound within the week. More updates on Gray's throwing program should be made available following Saturday's session.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Finishes spring with ugly numbers

Bundy finished the Grapefruit League season with a disappointing 7.41 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB over five starts (17 innings).

The Orioles' first-round selection (fourth overall) in the 2011 draft served up a team-high six home runs -- three of which were hammered in Bundy's final spring outing. After having Tommy John surgery in 2013, the 24-year-old became a full-time starter for the first time in his career last season. March stats aren't worth worrying too much about, but Bundy's stock took a slight hit over the past month. The right-hander is tabbed as the team's No. 3 starter and will make his first regular-season appearance April 5 at home against Toronto.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

White Sox's Michael Kopech: Starting at Double-A

Kopech will open the 2017 season with Double-A Birmingham, Chuck Garfien of CSN Chicago reports.

Kopech will be introduced to the Double-A level after just 52 innings in High-A. The organization will be looking for him to better command his high-90s fastball and develop his secondary offerings while with the Barons.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: Tosses four scoreless Friday

Musgrove allowed three hits and one walk while striking out four over four scoreless innings in Friday's exhibition against the Cubs, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Musgrove finished out the spring on a high note against a Cubs lineup filled with its best players. He retired the first eight batters faced before yielding back-to-back hits in the third, but he delivered a changeup to strike out Kris Bryant to avoid damage. He also got out of a two-out, two-on jam in the fourth. While the right-hander never pitched more than five innings in any of his seven spring starts, Musgrove feels he has more in the tank and will be prepared to go deep when he makes his first regular-season start Thursday, April 6, against the Mariners.
