Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Pounded by Jays in Sunday's loss
Kluber (8-8) lasted just 3.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Jays, coughing up five runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four.
It was his shortest outing since May 9 in Houston, where Kluber gave up five runs in 2.2 innings. After going 4-1 in June with a 2.19 ERA and 37:7 K:BB in 37 innings, the right-hander just couldn't put the ball where he wanted it in his first July start. He'll look to shake it off Friday at home against the Yankees.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Picks up second win of season Sunday
Gibson (2-5) allowed four runs, two of which were earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Rangers.
Gibson went into the seventh inning with a 5-2 lead before giving up a pair of runs in the frame, but the bullpen was able to hold on to give him his second win of the season. He's now held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in three of his last four starts to lower his ERA from 6.49 to 4.82. He'll make his next start Friday at the Rangers.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Allows 10 hits in four innings Sunday
Hamels (9-2) allowed five runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out three over four innings to take the loss Sunday at the Twins.
Hamels gave up three runs in the third inning and another two in the fifth to leave the game with a 5-2 deficit, which saddled him with his second loss of the season. This was the first time he's allowed more than one run in any of his last five starts, and he now has a 2.93 ERA along with a 1.28 ERA on the year. He'll make his next start Friday against the Twins.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
White Sox's Jose Quintana: Snaps personal seven-game losing streak Sunday
Quintana (6-8) allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings to earn the win Sunday at the Astros.
Quintana gave up a solo homer to George Springer to lead off the Astros' half of the first inning before shutting them down completely. He finally got some run support from the White Sox's offense to break a personal seven-game losing streak, and he now has a 3.06 ERA along with a 1.12 WHIP on the year. He'll make his next start Saturday against the Braves.

Michael Roth SP | TEX
Rangers' Michael Roth: Contract purchased from Triple-A
Roth's contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
The Rangers opened up a 40-man spot for Roth by moving Colby Lewis (strained lat muscle) to the 60-day DL, and the 26-year-old left-hander will replace Luke Jackson, who was demoted to Double-A Frisco in a corresponding move, on the 25-man roster. Roth compiled a 2.66 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 81.1 innings while working primarily as a starter at Triple-A, but the Rangers plan on using him as a long reliever while he remains in the big leagues.

Sean O'Sullivan SP | WAS
Red Sox's Sean O'Sullivan: Contract purchased from Triple-A, will start Sunday
O'Sullivan's contract was purchased from Triple-A Pawtucket, MLB.com reports. He'll get the start Sunday against the Angels.
The Red Sox have been able to get by with a four-man rotation of late due to scheduling quirks, but with the team in the midst of a stretch of six games in as many days, O'Sullivan was needed to make a spot start. The team could surely use O'Sullivan to eat some innings after starter Clay Buchholz and the bullpen were pummeled for 21 runs in Saturday's loss, but don't count on pretty numbers from the right-hander, who has surrendered 10 earned runs on 19 hits and two walks over 11.1 innings with the Red Sox this season.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Gets plenty of run support in mediocre start
Paxton allowed four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits and two walks in 5.2 innings Saturday in a win against the Orioles. He struck out two.
Paxton had few problems through the first five innings and was staked to a 9-2 lead entering the sixth. He couldn't make it out of that inning, though, as he gave up two runs on two walks and three hits. Paxton had a few good outings after debuting on June 1, but he's been pretty mediocre and far too hittable in his last three starts. He's allowed 12 earned runs in those 18.1 innings and nearly double-digit hits in each one (13.8 H/9). Fortunately, none have left the yard. Paxton said rather than staying on top of the ball, he got to the side of it in the sixth inning. We'll see if he can adjust in his next start.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
White Sox's Chris Sale: Whiffs nine while securing 14th victory Saturday
Sale (14-2) fanned nine over seven innings in Saturday's 7-6 victory over the Astros, while giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk.
Sale's afternoon didn't exactly get started on the right foot when he gave up a 393-foot homer to Jose Altuve in the first, but he managed to miss plenty of bats after that. The White Sox ace went on to induce 22 swinging strikes, and struck out nine batters for the second time in the last three starts. Sale now has four straight quality starts, and will go for five in a row versus the Braves next Friday.
-
Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Takes third loss Saturday versus Tigers
Snell (1-3) gave up three earned runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Tigers. He struck out four.
The young southpaw had several positives to derive from this one, as he did manage first-pitch strikes on 18 of the 24 batters he faced, and induced 10 swings-and-misses. Despite frequently getting ahead in the count however, Snell still handed out multiple free passes for the fourth straight start, and gave up his first career homer to Ian Kinsler in the fifth inning. The 23-year-old's control has been his biggest issue to date, and he'll look to chip away at his 1.71 WHIP and get back in the win column when he takes on the Angels next Thursday.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Athletics' Rich Hill: On pitch count Saturday
Hill, who was activated off the disabled list to start Saturday, will be on a pitch count, Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area reports. He had missed the last month due to a groin injury.
A's manager Bob Melvin said he expected Hill to be on a similar pitch count as Sean Manaea was in his first start off the disabled list earlier this week. Manaea threw 83 pitches against the Giants on Wednesday.
