Rea won't start Sunday's game against the Giants, but manager Craig Counsell said the right-hander is expected to "be involved" in the pitching plan, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Ryan Rolison will instead start Sunday's series finale as an opener, lining up Rea to fill a bulk role out of the bullpen. The 35-year-old surrendered seven runs during his last start but was effective in the three outings prior to that with a 3.57 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 17.2 innings.

Greene (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment Thursday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.

On the shelf all season while recovering from March 11 surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow, Greene has now been cleared for a rehab stint after completing a series of bullpen sessions and live throwing sessions over the past few weeks. Due to the length of his absence, Greene could need most of his 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out, though manager Terry Francona said earlier this month that the right-hander is expected to return from the 60-day injured list at some point prior to the All-Star break.

Petty (1-1) was the winning pitcher Saturday, giving up one hit and striking out one over 1.2 relief innings in a 2-1 win over Arizona.

Petty, a member of the rotation at Triple-A Louisville, was called up earlier in the week to give the Reds some bullpen length. He entered a tie game with one out and two runners on in the seventh inning and made the high-leverage situation thornier when he hit the first batter he faced. The right-hander then got two critical outs to escape the jam and became the pitcher of record when Noelvi Marte whacked a go-ahead home run in the eighth. The win was Petty's first in the majors.

Nola didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Brewers after allowing three runs on six hits, including two home runs, and two walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

Nola hasn't been involved in the decision in any of his last three starts, and he's on a run of seven consecutive outings in which he's allowed at least two earned runs. With only one quality start over that stretch, Nola isn't producing results, nor is he pitching deep enough into games to be a reliable arm in fantasy. He has a 5.72 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP across eight starts and 39.1 innings since the beginning of May. Nola's next start is slated to come at home against the Mets.

Vasquez (6-4) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings in a 9-3 victory over the Orioles. He struck out five.

The right-hander tossed an inefficient 100 pitches (68 strikes) before being replaced to begin the sixth inning, but a four-run first for the Padres gave Vasquez a comfortable cushion before he even got to the mound. The win was Vasquez's first since May 15, and that was also the last time he completed six innings -- over his last five outings, he's stumbled to a 5.63 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB in 24 frames. He'll look to build on this performance in his next start, which is set to come on the road next weekend against the Rangers.

Liberatore didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Twins, giving up four runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

The Cardinals gave the southpaw an early 4-0 lead after two innings, but Liberatore served up a trio of long balls in the third and fourth frames to tie it up, eventually getting lifted in the fifth after 70 pitches (46 strikes). It's the first time since April 25 he's been taken deep multiple times in a start, but Liberatore's been shaky over the last month even when keeping the ball in the yard, stumbling to a 5.65 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings over his last six outings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City.

McDonald (2-4) allowed four runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out four over 3.2 innings to take the loss versus the Cubs on Saturday.

McDonald didn't get much support from his teammates, but he struggled through this outing as well. It took him 92 pitches (53 strikes) to collect his 11 outs, matching his shortest start of the season. McDonald is now at a 4.64 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 41:15 K:BB over 42.2 innings through eight starts. It's not clear when Tyler Mahle (hamstring) will return from the injured list -- if he can't go next week, McDonald is projected for a road start versus the Marlins.

Freeland (1-7) allowed six runs on 10 hits and struck out four without walking a batter over 5.2 innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Saturday.

Freeland has now allowed at least six runs in six of his 12 starts. This was the third time he avoided walking a batter, and he gave up only one home run, but that's a small consolation given the overall results. The veteran southpaw continues to struggle in 2026 with a 7.98 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB over 58.2 innings. Freeland is projected to make his next start at home versus the Pirates.

Perez (5-3) earned the win over the Mets on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 5.1 innings.

Perez got through five scoreless frames before exiting with a runner on second base and one out in the sixth. That runner came around to score following the lefty's departure, but that didn't prevent Perez from finishing with the win. The veteran hurler has completed six innings just once over 14 appearances (10 starts) this season, though he's put together a quality 2.90 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 51:21 K:BB through 62 innings. Perez's place in the rotation has become even more important due to Spencer Strider (elbow) landing on the injured list Saturday, and the former lines up to next take the mound at home against Milwaukee.

Soroka completed seven innings against Cincinnati on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks while striking out seven batters in a no-decision.

Soroka gave up a run on two hits in the third inning, but aside from that frame the only baserunner he allowed came on a first-inning hit-by-pitch. The right-hander retired the final 13 batters he faced and finished with his sixth quality start over his past eight outings while fanning seven batters. Soroka is in the midst of an excellent campaign, posting an 8-3 record along with a 3.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 79:17 K:BB over 81 innings spanning 14 starts. Perhaps most importantly, he's managed to stay healthy -- he's nine innings away from reaching 90 in the majors for the first time since the 2019 season.
