Morton (8-5) earned the win during Friday's 6-4 victory over Seattle, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

Both offenses went back and forth but Atlanta eventually prevailed to give Morton his third straight winning decision. Carlos Santana was responsible for the bulk of the damage against the 38-year-old with a pair of long balls, and all four runs on Morton's ledger were the result of three home runs. During the win streak, he's permitted 11 runs across 29.2 innings while recording 39 strikeouts. Morton is scheduled to take the mound again midweek in San Francisco.

Smyly (6-8) allowed one unearned run on one hit and two walks over seven innings Friday, striking out eight and earning a win over San Francisco.

Smyly fired seven shutout frames before he was charged with an unearned run in the eighth. He's given up two or fewer runs in eight of his last 10 starts, but the veteran lefty has only a 4-3 record during that span despite registering a 2.85 ERA. On the year, Smyly is sporting a 3.57 ERA with an 84:25 K:BB through 98.1 innings. He's expected to face the Rockies at home next week.

Rodon (12-8) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings Friday, striking out 11 and taking a loss against the Cubs.

Aside from Yan Gomes' two-run shot in the second inning, Rodon turned in a dominant performance in the tough-luck loss. The 29-year-old southpaw has recorded double-digit strikeouts in four of his last five starts, improving his K:BB to 212:48 through 162.2 frames. Rodon has given up two or fewer runs in seven of his last eight outings and he's now sporting a 2.93 ERA on the year. He's expected to face Atlanta at home next week.

Mikolas (11-11) yielded four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings Friday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Pirates.

Through the first four innings, the only damage against Mikolas was Ben Gamel's solo shot in the second frame. The veteran righty then gave up three runs in the fifth, including Oneil Cruz's two-run triple. Since coughing up 10 runs in Colorado on Aug. 9, Mikolas is 3-2 with a 3.15 ERA over his last six outings. On the year, he's sporting a 3.42 ERA with a 135:33 K:BB through 29 starts. Mikolas is lined up to face the Reds at home next week.

Contreras (5-4) allowed one run on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Friday, striking out one and earning a win over the Cardinals.

Contreras cruised through five shutout frames before being charged with a run in the sixth. Despite the solid outing, he forced just six swinging strikes, his fewest since June 15 against St. Louis. In five starts since rejoining the MLB roster in August, the 22-year-old is sporting a 2.45 ERA with a 21:13 K:BB. Contreras has lowered his season ERA to 3.29 across 79.1 frames. He's projected to start in Cincinnati next week.

Gonsolin (forearm) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Gonsolin has not thrown from a mound since landing on the injured list, but it appears he is ready to get back on the bump. It's unclear if Gonsolin will require a rehab assignment before rejoining the big club, but the Dodgers figure to release an update on his status following Sunday's session.

Wood (shoulder) is improving but is still being evaluated, with his expected return date not yet clear, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Wood hit the injured list with a left shoulder impingement in early September but has yet to be shut down for the year. Even with the Giants all but eliminated from postseason contention, it looks as though he has a shot to make it back for at least a start or two late in the year, though that's not guaranteed. The team is expected to go with a bullpen game when his turn comes up Sunday against the Cubs.

Burrows is on Triple-A Indianapolis' 7-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Burrows has a 4.10 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 42:11 K:BB over 41.2 innings for Indianapolis this season but has been unavailable the past couple weeks due to the shoulder issue. The 22-year-old has yet to be ruled out for the season, though it's unclear when he's expected back on the mound.

Gore (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday and is expected to make a rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Rochester, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The 23-year-old threw 37 pitches over two simulated innings earlier this week and is now set to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A. Gore will likely require multiple starts in the minors before being cleared to rejoin the big-league club, but he could be ready to join the Nationals in late September for a couple starts.

Henry was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

After giving up five earned runs over 4.1 innings Wednesday against the Padres, the D-backs decided to send Henry back to the minors -- likely for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old southpaw recorded a 5.50 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 36 innings for Arizona. Taylor Widener will return to the majors in a corresponding move.
