Gallen (thumb) is expected to start Saturday against the Mets, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

The 26-year-old was scheduled to start Tuesday against the Astros and had the outing pushed back due to a laceration on his right thumb, but he's set to make his season debut just a few days later. Gallen indicated he still could have pitched Tuesday, but the Diamondbacks opted to play it safe and delay his first start of 2022.

Mahle was charged with four runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Guardians on Tuesday.

Mahle got the win in Atlanta on Opening Day, but his issues at Great American Ball Park continue. This time it was mostly bad luck -- Mahle struck out Oscar Mercado to begin the third inning, but the pitch got by Tyler Stephenson and Mercado reached base. Mahle committed a fielding error shortly thereafter and then Jose Ramirez drove in two on a triple after Nick Senzel and Tommy Pham collided in the outfield. Mahle needs to put this one behind him in a hurry as a matchup with the mighty Dodgers in Los Angeles looms this weekend.

Meyer exited his start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday with a calf cramp, freelance reporter David Fernandez reports.

Meyer was dealing against Durham prior to suffering the injury, as he delivered five perfect frames to go along with eight strikeouts. The 23-year-old is Miami's top pitching prospect and doesn't figure to miss much time, if any, given the nature of the injury.

Gore is with the Padres as a member of the taxi squad for Tuesday's game against the Giants, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Blake Snell (groin) was scratched from his start Sunday and is attempting to avoid the injured list, though Gore is now with the team on the taxi squad and waiting in the wings to step into the starting rotation. Gore won't officially be added to the big-league roster until Snell's status is determined, but for now the young lefty lines up to potentially make his major-league debut Friday versus Atlanta.

Smyly (1-0) tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Pirates. He allowed three hits and struck out one.

It was an excellent team debut for Smyly, who didn't join the Cubs until March 19. The veteran lefty has had some success before, including his respectable 4.48 ERA across 23 starts with Atlanta last season. Chicago is currently without Alec Mills (back), Wade Miley (elbow) and Adbert Alzolay (lat), so Smyly should be entrenched in the rotation for now, and he could stick there all year if he pitches well. He's currently slated to start again Sunday against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Matz (finger) is scheduled to make his second start of the season Friday against the Brewers in Milwaukee, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Matz dealt with a blister in his Cardinals debut in Sunday's loss to the Pirates, with the issue likely playing a part in the southpaw getting tagged for seven runs on nine hits and a walk over three innings. The Cardinals are apparently confident the blister won't present too many problems for Matz moving forward, though fantasy managers may want to tread carefully with the southpaw as he heads to American Family Field.

Cabrera (biceps) is on the 7-day injured list at Low-A Jupiter and resumed a throwing progression Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

While Cabrera would likely be at Triple-A Jacksonville if he were fully healthy, general manager Kim Ng said it would be easier for him to be monitored by a number of the Marlins' different medical professionals if he were stationed in Jupiter. Cabrera also dealt with a biceps issue last spring.

Manager Buck Showalter said that Walker (shoulder) will need to make at least one rehab start before returning from the 10-day injured list, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Walker left his start Monday against the Phillies after just two innings due to shoulder bursitis. Given that he'll require a rehab outing, Walker seems likely to miss more than one turn in the major-league rotation. David Peterson is likely to take his place temporarily, though the Mets have yet to officially announce their plans.

Walker was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder bursitis Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Walker himself wrote on Twitter that, "everything is all good" Tuesday after leaving his start Monday against the Phillies with right shoulder irritation, but "all good" was apparently in relation to avoiding a more severe injury. He'll still wind up missing at least one start and potentially a small handful, with the Mets yet to specify exactly when he'll be back. David Peterson pitched four scoreless innings of relief after Walker's exit Monday and is presumably in line to fill his spot in the rotation.

Richardson will miss all of the 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery during the offseason, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

According to Mayo, Richardson had been pitching hurt in 2021, which explains the 5.09 ERA and 1.47 WHIP he posted in 76 innings at High-A Dayton. It's unclear when exactly he had the surgery, but he could potentially return in April or May of 2023 if he avoids setbacks.
