Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Moving to bullpen
Matz will pitch out of the bullpen going forward, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Matz would have been on schedule to start Wednesday against the Rays, but it will be Michael Wacha getting the nod in his place. Matz can't exactly claim he deserves a starting role at the moment, as he owns a 9.79 ERA on the year in six starts and one relief appearance. With just five days left in the season, it would be a surprise if he makes another start.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Mets' Michael Wacha: Returning to rotation
Wacha will start Wednesday against the Rays, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Wacha made his previous appearance out of the bullpen, but he's a starter by trade and will return to that role Wednesday, pushing Steven Matz into a bullpen role. He hasn't had a particularly good time in his first and potentially only season as a Met, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 28 innings of work.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Activated and starting Tuesday
Quintana (lat) was activated from the injured list Tuesday ahead of his scheduled start against the Pirates.
Quintana missed the start of the season due to thumb surgery and made just two appearances before being sidelined with lat inflammation. He threw just three innings in both of those games, and he's unlikely to go particularly deep in this one as he hasn't pitched in over three weeks.
-
Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Activated ahead of start
Gray (back) was activated as expected ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Brewers.
Gray will wind up missing just a single turn in the rotation with a mid-back strain. The injury likely explains his 24.75 ERA and 4.25 WHIP over his last two starts, as he cruised to a 1.94 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in his first seven outings of the year. Nate Jones was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Ranger Suarez SP | BOS
Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Added as extra man
Suarez will be the 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The Phillies have yet to announce their starter for the nightcap, so the opportunity could well go to Suarez if he isn't needed in relief in the afternoon game. He hasn't thrown more than two innings in any of his appearances thus far this season, however, so if he does pitch first in the evening game, he'll likely be more of an opener than a true starter. He's allowed nine runs on 10 hits in four innings of relief this season, striking out one while walking four.

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Ambushed by Atlanta
Rogers (1-2) took the loss Monday, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings as the Marlins fell 5-4 to Atlanta. He struck out six.
Miami scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but Rogers immediately gave the lead back with interest, surrendering a four-spot in the bottom of the frame. The rookie southpaw will carry a 6.84 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB through 25 innings into his final start of the season Saturday, on the road against the Yankees.

J.T. Brubaker RP | SF
Pirates' JT Brubaker: Fans nine in quality start
Brubaker (1-3) took the loss Monday as the Pirates were downed 5-0 by the Cubs, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out nine.
The 26-year-old rookie delivered his first career quality start on 98 pitches (63 strikes), but a lack of run support from the Bucs wasted Brubaker's efforts. He's currently not scheduled for another outing this season, ending his first tour of the majors with a 4.46 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 45:15 K:BB through 42.1 innings. Brubaker has likely earned himself a shot at a more permanent rotation spot heading into 2021.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Rough time against Rockies
Cueto (2-2) gave up seven runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Rockies on Monday. He struck out four.
Cueto also hit a batter, and the 12 baserunners he allowed were too much for him to overcome when he didn't have his best stuff. He threw 59 of his 97 pitches for strikes. The right-hander has given up at least six runs in three of his last five starts to end the year in poor form. He now has a 5.53 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 52:25 K:BB across 57 innings and 11 starts this year. Cueto lines up for his last start of the regular season Saturday versus the Padres.
-
German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Delivers six solid innings
Marquez (3-6) allowed one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings in a win over the Giants on Monday.
The only run against Marquez came in the fifth inning on a Donovan Solano single. Other than that, the right-hander was able to produce his fourth straight quality start. Marquez has a 4.10 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 66:24 K:BB in 74.2 innings this year. He's expected to make his last start of the regular season Saturday in Arizona.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Homer spoils decent outing
Woodruff (2-5) took the loss Monday against the Reds, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks across 5.2 innings. He fanned nine.
Woodruff was solid once again, but took a tough-luck loss in his second consecutive outing. He was able to get the first two outs of the sixth after logging five scoreless frames, but a two-run shot by Eugenio Suarez bounced him from the game and left him on the hook for the loss. Despite falling to 2-5, Woodruff has allowed just five runs while fanning 26 across his last 19.2 innings.
