Merrill Kelly SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Undergoes procedure
Kelly underwent a procedure earlier in the week to dissolve a blood clot in his right shoulder.
Kelly is expected to miss the remainder of the 2020 season following the procedure. Prior to getting injured, the right-hander notched a 2.59 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across five appearances (31.1 innings).

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Scheduled to start Friday
Mahle is scheduled to start Friday against the Cubs, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Mahle has made four appearances for the Reds this season, compiling a 4.41 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB across 16.1 innings during those outings. With Mahle set to start Friday's series opener, Trevor Bauer will get the ball for one of the team's two games Saturday.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Mets' Michael Wacha: Set to start Thursday
Wacha (shoulder) will be activated from the injured list to start Thursday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Wacha has been sidelined since Aug. 9 with shoulder inflammation, but he's on track to rejoin the rotation Thursday after emerging from a pair of bullpens earlier in the week with no issues. Prior to landing on the shelf, the right-hander compiled a 6.43 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB across three outings (14 innings).

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Starting Game 1 of twin bill
Webb is starting Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.
Webb will start the first half of Thursday's twin bill, with Kevin Gausman set to start Game 2. The right-hander impressed his last time out, striking out eight batters while allowing two runs on five hits across seven innings.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Giants' Kevin Gausman: Not starting Game 1
Gausman is not starting Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Dodgers.
It turns out Logan Webb will get the ball for the first half of Thursday's twin bill, with Gausman likely lined up to start Game 2. Across 31 innings this season, Gausman owns a 4.65 ERA (3.12 FIP) and 42:6 K:BB.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Goes on IL with blister
The Dodgers placed Buehler on the 10-day injured list Thursday after he developed a blister on his right hand.
Buehler had been expected to take the hill for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Giants, but he apparently came out of his most recent start Aug. 21 with the blister and was unable to overcome the issue despite having the last five days off to heal up. The IL move is retroactive to Aug. 23, so Buehler will be eligible for activation as soon as Sept. 2, and according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, the expectation is that he'll be able to rejoin the rotation next week after a brief stay on the shelf. Los Angeles called up right-hander Mitchell White to take Buehler's spot on the active roster, but it's unclear if White or someone else will receive the starting nod in the nightcap after Clayton Kershaw takes the hill for Game 1 on Thursday.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Giants' Kevin Gausman: Starting first game of twin bill
Gausman will start the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Gausman was on track to start Wednesday before the Giants and Dodgers were one of the six MLB teams that elected to postpone games. He'll now return to the mound on a full week's rest after he cleared 100 pitches for the second start in a row in his last outing Aug. 20 against the Angels. The 29-year-old has been a pleasant surprise for the Giants this season, compiling a 4.65 ERA (3.12 FIP) and 42:6 K:BB in 31 innings.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Starting first game of twin bill
Kershaw will start the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
After Dodgers and Giants players agreed to postpone Wednesday's game, the two teams will wrap up their series Thursday with a twin bill. Kershaw was initially slated to start Wednesday, so he'll simply pick up an extra day of rest coming off his most extensive workload of the season. He tossed 96 pitches his last time out Aug. 20 against the Mariners, striking out 11 over seven innings while allowing one run on four hits and a walk.

Mike Soroka SP | ARI
Braves' Mike Soroka: Optimistic about timeline
Soroka (Achilles) thinks he could be ready to pitch by Opening Day next season, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander noted that Adam Wainwright was able to return and pitch in the playoffs roughly five months after surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon back in 2015, but Wainwright's injury was to his landing leg and not the leg he pushes off with, which presents an extra wrinkle in Soroka's recovery. The 23-year-old also said he plans to use his rehab period to make some mechanical tweaks to his delivery. He'll be in a cast or boot for four months post-surgery, so he likely won't have a clear timetable for his return to the mound until that gets removed, but Soroka would still have about three more months after that to get into shape for the projected start of spring training in 2021.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Takes no-decision
Corbin allowed two runs on seven hits (one home run) and two walks while striking out three across six-plus innings Wednesday against the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.
Corbin served up a third-inning solo shot to Rhys Hoskins before running into some more trouble to begin the seventh after Didi Gregorius lined a triple that rolled to the left field wall. Corbin would not face another hitter but was charged with a second run after Gregorius was singled home by the very next batter. The 31-year-old southpaw has four quality starts in six outings but has been inconsistent with his ability to limit hits and record punchouts. He'll try to get into the win column in a rematch against the Phillies on Monday.
