David Peterson SP | CHC
Mets' David Peterson: Picks up third win
Peterson (3-1) picked up the win in Thursday's 8-2 victory over the Nationals, allowing one unearned run on one hit and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
Peterson continued his steady start to his big-league career Thursday. The left-hander has logged at least five innings and allowed three runs or fewer in each of his four starts. It's important to note that the southpaw only threw 74 pitches due to shoulder soreness, according to Newsday Sports. Peterson described the soreness as "nothing to worry about," which indicates he thinks he'll be ready for his start against the Marlins next week.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Likely starting again
Manager Dave Roberts said Gonsolin will likely make another start for the Dodgers, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
It sounds like Gonsolin's strong showing against the Padres on Wednesday -- he struck out eight across 4.2 scoreless innings -- earned him at least one more turn through the rotation, though the Dodgers have yet to confirm when his next outing will come.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Faces live hitters
Wood (shoulder) threw two innings of live batting practice Thursday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
Wood fired 30 pitches in Thursday's simulated outing and is tentatively scheduled for a bullpen session Saturday. If everything goes well over the weekend, Wood could ramp up to three simulated innings early next week. According to Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, the southpaw will apparently need to make another simulated start of around four innings thereafter, suggesting his return is likely a couple of weeks away.

Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Brewers' Eric Lauer: Optioned to alternate camp
Lauer was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Thursday.
Lauer was effective in his first appearance this season, but he struggled mightily in his two most recent starts, allowing 13 runs on 14 hits and five walks while striking out four over 6.2 innings. As a result, he'll head to the alternate training site to work on improving. He could return to the majors at some point in 2020 if he can turn things around in Appleton. Drew Rasmussen's contract was selected by the Brewers on Thursday, and he's a candidate to take Lauer's spot in the starting rotation for now.

Drew Rasmussen SP | TB
Brewers' Drew Rasmussen: Joins major-league roster
Rasmussen's contract was selected by the Brewers on Thursday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Rasmussen made a strong case to make the major-league roster during spring training and summer camp. He was left off the Opening Day roster, but he'll get ready to make his major-league debut as part of the Brewers' pitching staff. The right-hander posted a 3.15 ERA and 96:31 K:BB over 74.1 innings in the minors last season. Despite his solid results in the minor leagues, Rasmussen has never pitched above Double-A and could experience some growing pains against higher-level competition. Rasmussen served mainly as a starter in the minors and could take Eric Lauer's place in the rotation after he was optioned to the alternate training site Thursday.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Expected to throw soon
Musgrove (triceps) is expected to play catch over the weekend, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.
The righty missed a start due to an ankle injury before heading to the IL with inflammation in his right triceps. Musgrove struggled in three starts prior to getting hurt, compiling a 6.75 ERA with 11 walks in 14.2 innings. The Pirates will likely have a better idea of where Musgrove stands after he throws in the coming days.

Tony Gonsolin RP | KC
Dodgers' Tony Gonsolin: Strikes out eight in no-decision
Gonsolin didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's contest between the Dodgers and the Padres. He tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and one walk while fanning eight.
All signs point towards Wednesday's start being a spot start for Gonsolin, but the 26-year-old made the most of the opportunity and held the red-hot Padres scoreless while also retiring 11 consecutive batters at one point. Gonsolin is yet to allow a run in two starts this season, posting a 9:2 K:BB in 8.2 innings.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Padres' Zach Davies: Takes tough loss against Dodgers
Davies (2-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Dodgers. He tossed seven innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks while fanning five.
Davies gave up two runs in the bottom of the fifth -- on an RBI single from Edwin Rios that scored A.J. Pollock, and on an RBI groundout from Austin Barnes that scored Chris Taylor. Despite the fact Davies was tagged with the loss, he delivered a strong performance against one of the best offenses in the National League and extended what has been a strong start to the season for him. He has allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his first four starts and carries a 2.78 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP after his first 22.2 innings.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Allows three runs in relief
Mahle gave up three runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six over 3.1 innings out of the bullpen in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Royals.
Wade Miley (groin) got the start in his return from the IL, but Miley only threw 44 pitches and Mark Sheldon of MLB.com suggests the lefty may be hurt again. Mahle was making a case to remain a starter with his performance during Miley's absence, and his return to the bullpen could be short lived whether Miley is indeed injured or not. Mahle now has a 3.38 ERA and 16:6 K:BB, with only one home run allowed in 13.1 innings.

Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA
Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Gives up pair of homers
Ynoa allowed two runs on four hits and three walks in one-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Wednesday. He didn't strike out a batter.
Ynoa escaped disaster after a double and a pair of walks loaded the bases in the first inning. He failed to retire any of the first four batters in the second, allowing solo shots to Gary Sanchez and Clint Frazier as well as walking Brett Gardner and giving up a single to DJ LeMahieu before reliever Tyler Matzek entered the game. Ynoa has given up three runs in 3.1 innings across two appearances. The 22-year-old has been thrust into a starting role with injuries to Mike Soroak (Achilles) and Cole Hamels (triceps). Ynoa projects to make his next start Monday versus the Nationals.
