David Peterson SP | CHC
Mets' David Peterson: Set for big-league debut
Peterson will be called up to start against the Red Sox on Tuesday for his major-league debut, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Peterson is at least a moderately interesting prospect, with a back-end starter profile driven by command and groundballs. He did manage to strike out a solid 24.5 percent of opposing batters in 24 Double-A starts last season, though he sits around 90 mph with his fastball and may not strike out too many hitters at the big-league level. He was hardly dominant at Double-A Binghamton last year, either, posting a modest 4.19 ERA, so expectations shouldn't be too high as he makes the jump to the majors for his first career start.

Adrian Houser SP | SF
Brewers' Adrian Houser: Strong effort in no-decision
Houser gave up one run on one hit and three walks over five innings Monday but didn't factor into the decision in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates. He struck out four.
Despite a strong outing, the right-hander was in line for a loss when he exited after 68 pitches (37 strikes), but both offenses came alive in the late innings to take him off the hook. Houser emerged as one of the Brewers' best starting options in the second half of 2019, and his first start of 2020 doesn't suggest that was a fluke.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Reds' Wade Miley: Chased early by Cubs
Miley (0-1) took the loss Monday as the Reds fell 8-7 to the Cubs, coughing up six runs (five earned) on four hits and two walks over 1.2 innings. He struck out three.
A rain delay before the start of the game seemed to mess with Miley's focus, as he plunked Kris Bryant with his second pitch of the night and then walked Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs took advantage to score four runs in the first inning, and after they tacked on another in the second, Miley's night was done after 57 pitches (32 strikes). One bad start probably won't cost the veteran southpaw his spot in the rotation, but with Anthony DeSclafani (shoulder) set to come off the injured list this weekend, Miley may not be able to afford a second one.

Seth Lugo SP | KC
Mets' Seth Lugo: Collects four-out save
Lugo earned his first save of the season, pitching a perfect 1.1 innings with one strikeout in Monday's 7-4 win over the Red Sox.
Lugo was able to finish the eighth inning with a runner on first by striking out Christian Vazquez. The right-hander then induced three groundouts to complete the save in the ninth. With regular closer Edwin Diaz faltering in his last outing Saturday versus the Braves, Lugo's strong start to 2020 could see him in the mix for more saves going forward.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Mets' Michael Wacha: Allows one run in win
Wacha (1-0) allowed one run on five hits and a walk while striking out four in five innings in a win over the Red Sox on Monday.
The lone blemish on Wacha's line came on a fourth-inning Mitch Moreland homer. Wacha is looking to bounce back from a poor 2019, when he went 6-7 with a 4.76 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and a career-worst 26 homers allowed in 29 appearances (24 starts). The 29-year-old right-hander is expected to make his next start Saturday in Atlanta.

Touki Toussaint RP | LAA
Braves' Touki Toussaint: Roughed up in relief
Toussaint gave up six runs on five hits and a walk over 2.2 innings of relief during Monday's 14-5 loss to the Rays. He struck out six.
While the right-hander did show flashes of dominance and fired 42 of his 67 pitches for strikes, Toussaint was far too hittable when he was over the plate, serving up a homer to Hunter Relfroe along with a pair of doubles to Brandon Lowe. Atlanta has a sudden opening in its rotation after Mike Foltynewicz was abruptly designated for assignment, but Toussaint's performance in relief of Folty on Monday doesn't suggest he's ready to fill it.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Recovering quickly
DeSclafani (right teres major strain) has resumed throwing already and is on pace to return after missing only one start, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Tyler Mahle will replace DeSclafani against the Cubs on Tuesday night. His next turn is scheduled for Sunday against the Tigers. Wade Miley had a disastrous start Monday against the Cubs, though, so the Reds could consider that spot as a possibility as well.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Throws lightly
Strasburg (hand) threw very lightly and felt less tingling his thumb Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
He is dealing with nerve irritation in his right hand, but is "definitely a lot better," according to manager Davey Martinez. Strasburg will need to throw a bullpen session before he can be cleared to make a start, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Zach Davies SP | WAS
Padres' Zach Davies: Starting Tuesday
Davies will start Tuesday's game against the Giants, Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
This was expected, but we didn't get confirmation until after Monday's game. Davies will likely be caught by Austin Hedges, as he benefited greatly last year from having an excellent framer (Yasmani Grandal) behind the plate for most of his starts with the Brewers. He will need to hold his own in the early going to avoid getting replaced in the rotation, as the Padres have several young arms coming up behind him.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Vultures win
Quantrill (1-0) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one across 1.1 scoreless innings Monday against the Diamondbacks en route to his first win.
Quantrill, who is a starter by trade but was on the outside looking in on San Diego's rotation, is a logical pitcher to have follow the left-handed Lucchesi. The Padres will likely deploy Quantrill more often than every fifth day, but he could continue to vulture wins in this quasi piggyback role.
