Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Lasts only three frames
Velasquez didn't factor in the decision in Tuesday's win at Cincinnati after giving up one run on four hits across three innings. He struck out five and walked two.
Velasquez allowed only the single run, but he needed 67 pitches to work through the three innings, so manager Gabe Kapler decided to take advantage of the extra arms in the bullpen. The 27-year-old has a 4.80 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 108:37 K:BB over 99.1 innings and lines up to face the Mets on Sunday, but he could continue to see a shorter leash thanks to September's expanded roster.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Surrenders four earned runs
DeGrom allowed four earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out six across seven innings Tuesday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.
DeGrom worked effectively through the seventh frame, as he allowed just two earned runs on six hits. However, he was sent back out in the eighth inning and surrendered an infield single followed by a two-run home run to sour the outing, a point made worse by the bullpen blowing a big lead in the ninth and costing deGrom a win. Despite allowing four earned runs in consecutive starts, deGrom still owns a strong 2.76 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 176 innings for the season. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, currently scheduled for Monday against Arizona.

Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Unlikely to pitch this weekend
Cueto (elbow) experienced back tightness during Tuesday's bullpen session and is "doubtful" to start against the Dodgers this weekend, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Giants had been targeting Sunday as Cueto's potential return date, but things will be put on hold until he's re-evaluated in a couple days. The 33-year-old is about 13 months removed from Tommy John surgery, so the Giants are likely to remain cautious with only a few weeks left in the regular season.

Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Sustains wrist bruise
Keller was diagnosed with a right wrist bruise after being struck by a line drive Tuesday against the Marlins.
Keller was hit by a 105 mph line drive off the bat of Garrett Cooper during the second inning and immediately exited the game, but the initial diagnosis indicates he avoided a fracture. The 23-year-old's next turn through the rotation is scheduled for Sunday against the Cardinals, though it's unclear whether he'll be able to make said start.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Facing hitters Wednesday
May (head) will face hitters on the field prior to Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
May was hit in the head by a line drive Sunday but was cleared of a concussion. He'll still do some throwing before returning to game action. Manager Dave Roberts said the team would decide on the 21-year-old's upcoming role following the throwing session.

Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Struck by liner
Keller was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins after being hit in the right wrist by a line drive, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Garrett Cooper hit a liner over 105 mph off the bat during the second inning that hit Keller in the right wrist, immediately forcing him to leave the contest. Keller was off to a fast start with three strikeouts over 1.2 innings, but we'll now await word on the severity of his injury.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Passes concussion testing
May (head) has passed concussion tests and was headed for bunting drills prior to Tuesday's game against Colorado, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
May was struck by a liner in the head during Sunday's matchup, though he passed all concussion testing and feels fine. The Dodgers have yet to provide an update on May's status, though he figures to be available to pitch within the next few days.

Corbin Burnes SP | ARI
Brewers' Corbin Burnes: Returns to big leagues
Burnes was recalled from Triple-A San Antonio on Tuesday.
Burnes will get another shot in the majors despite accruing a 9.00 ERA and 1.87 WHIP with a 67:20 K:BB over 46 innings this year with Milwaukee. His last big-league outing dates back to July 14 against the Giants, when he got rocked for four runs without recording a single out.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Reds' Tyler Mahle: Listed for Friday's start
Mahle will start Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Mahle shined in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader against St. Louis, allowing two hits with no walks and five strikeouts over 6.1 innings in his first big-league appearance since July 19. He did not project for a turn this week, but the Reds announced after Monday's game that Alex Wood (back) had been scratched from his scheduled start and that Mahle would be afforded another opportunity. He has been knocked around at times this season -- he has three starts with nine or more hits allowed -- but Mahle is still only 24 years old and the estimators are kind to him on account of his 18.5 K-BB%.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Confirmed as Wednesday's starter
Ryu is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies in Los Angeles, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Manager Dave Roberts recently hinted that Ryu could be in line to have his turn through the rotation skipped at some point in September, but that won't happen for at least one more week. The All-Star southpaw has labored through his last three starts, giving up 18 earned runs on 25 hits and three walks across 14.2 frames to take the loss on each occasion. Ryu's recent form might not make him the must-start option he's been all season, but it's worth noting his last three turns came against three offenses (Braves, Yankees and Diamondbacks) that all rank in the top half of the majors in team wRC+. The Rockies, meanwhile, rank 26th with a 85 wRC+, offering some hope for a bounce-back effort from Ryu.
