  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Fires six scoreless frames

Ryu allowed three hits and one walk over six shutout innings and had one strikeout during Wednesday's 5-1 win at Colorado. He did not factor in the decision.

Ryu continued his season-long dominance but wasn't able to notch his 12th win since the Dodgers didn't break onto the scoreboard until the ninth inning. The 32-year-old has a 1.66 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 117:16 K:BB through 135.2 innings and lines up to face the Cardinals early next week.

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Brewers' Jordan Lyles: Solid in win

Lyles (6-7) earned the win Wednesday after holding the A's to one run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.

Making his first start with the Brewers following a trade from the Pirates on July 29, Lyles turned in a solid performance without issuing any walks or home runs to pick up his sixth win of the season. The right-hander had previously been traded to the Brewers in 2018 to fill a relief role, but he's expected to maintain a spot in the rotation this time around. Lyles will carry a 5.15 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 94:35 K:BB into his next start Monday against his old Pirates teammates.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Next start set

Wacha will start next Monday's game against the Dodgers with Daniel Ponce de Leon having been optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The inconsistent right-hander will get yet another crack as a starter after a rollercoaster season that sees him currently sporting career-worst figures in ERA (5.15) and WHIP (1.61). Wacha owns a 5.05 ERA, .284 BAA and .361 wOBA across 73 innings as a starter this season, and he actually had seemed to be hitting his stride in a long-relief role out of the bullpen of late. Over his last three appearances, all in relief, Wacha allowed two earned runs on 12 hits and a walk while generating a 7:1 K:BB across 8.1 innings.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Stuck with sixth loss

Velasquez (3-6) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks over five-plus innings while striking out six as the Phillies fell 5-1 to the Giants.

The right-hander was locked in an unlikely pitchers' duel with Jeff Samardzija for five innings, but the Giants were finally able to break through against Velasquez in the sixth. He'll take a 4.40 ERA and 85:29 K:BB through 71.2 innings into his next start Monday in Arizona.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Solid in loss

Mikolas (7-11) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs after allowing one run (unearned) on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings.

Mikolas held the Cubs scoreless until the sixth inning, when Kris Bryant reach on a fielding error by Tommy Edman and then scored on an RBI single by Ian Happ. Despite the tough-luck loss, the right-hander lowered his home ERA to 1.98 and is now 2-2 since the All-Star break. Through 22 starts this season, Mikolas owns a 4.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 90:21 K:BB. The 30-year-old will gear up for a challenging road start at Dodger Stadium on Monday.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Shuts down Cardinals

Hendricks (8-8) pitched seven scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Cardinals. He scattered seven hits and recorded seven strikeouts while not allowing any walks.

Hendricks came up big in a critical spot, as the Cubs tied St. Louis for first in the NL Central with the win. The righty has allowed two runs or fewer in six straight starts to lower his season ERA to a sparkling 3.07. Hendricks will look to keep rolling in his next scheduled outing Monday against the Athletics.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 11 in no-decision

DeGrom recorded 11 strikeouts and gave up one run on five hits and two walks through seven innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

DeGrom mowed down the White Sox with his seventh double-digit strikeout performance. The 31-year-old racked up 21 swinging strikes in his 116 pitches and has a 2.04 ERA in his last 13 starts. Overall, deGrom has a 6-7 record with a 2.78 ERA through 22 starts and will make his next start Monday against the Marlins at Citi Field.

  • Marlins' Sandy Alcantara: Gives up seven runs

Alcantara (4-10) gave up seven runs on six hits and five walks while striking out five through 4.2 innings to take the loss against the Twins on Wednesday.

Alcantara pitched three scoreless innings, but he was blasted for three home runs and saddled with the loss. The 23-year-old has a 6.97 ERA in five July starts. Overall, Alcantara has a 4.54 ERA and a 6.51 K/9 through 21 starts this season. Alcantara will make his next start Monday against the Mets at Citi Field.

  • Luis Castillo SP | CHW

Reds' Luis Castillo: Strikes out seven in win

Castillo (10-4) allowed one run on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts across seven innings while earning a victory against the Pirates on Wednesday.

After giving up a season-high six runs in his last outing, this was a great bounceback effort and could have been expected, given that Castillo owns a 1.50 ERA against the Pirates this season. Overall, Castillo's been one of the better starting pitching fantasy assets this season, as he has posted a 2.63 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 151 strikeouts in 130 innings this season. Castillo will look to build off this outing in his next start Monday against the Angels at home.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Tabbed for MLB debut Friday

May is expected to be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to pitch Friday against the Padres, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

May was promoted to Triple-A in late June and is now set for his big-league debut little more than a month later. The 21-year-old allowed seven earned runs in five starts (27.1 innings) at Oklahoma City and had a 24:9 K:BB in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. According to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, May will have the chance to be a contributor in the stretch run for the Dodgers and is a potential bullpen option come playoff time.
