Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Returning to rotation Wednesday
Matz will rejoin the Mets rotation and start Wednesday against the Twins in Minnesota, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Due to a slew of off days leading up to the All-Star break, the Mets shortened their rotation to four men earlier this month, resulting in Matz shifting to the bullpen. Manager Mickey Callaway suggested that the lefty wasn't a lock to return to the rotation when a fifth starter was first required in the second half, but the Mets' lack of appealing, MLB-ready alternatives will allow Matz to earn another look as the team's fifth starter. Matz owns a 4.89 ERA across 81 innings this season, with a 5.37 FIP and an elevated home-run rate suggesting that his struggles can't be chalked up to a rash of bad luck.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Slated to start Sunday
Quantrill is listed as the scheduled starter for Sunday's game against the Braves.
With Matt Strahm moving to the bullpen shortly before the All-Star break and with Eric Lauer (personal) landing on the bereavement list Friday, the Padres will at least temporarily have room in the rotation for Quantrill. Once Lauer is back with the club, Quantrill could be at some risk of shifting to a long-relief role, though the Padres' ongoing efforts to manage Chris Paddack's workload could prompt manager Andy Green to keep Quantrill in the fold as part of a six-man rotation.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Lined up to start series finale
Greinke (personal) is listed as the starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Greinke bypassed the All-Star Game earlier this week while tending to the personal issue, but there was never much doubt the matter would impact his availability for the start of the second half. Since being pummeled for a season-high seven runs and giving up four home runs on Opening Day, Greinke has resembled the ace of yore with a 10-2 record, 2.28 ERA and 0.87 WHIP over his subsequent 18 starts.

Zac Gallen SP | ARI
Marlins' Zac Gallen: Remains in rotation
Gallen is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Mets.
As promised, manager Don Mattingly pared down the Miami rotation from six to five men following the All-Star break, with Gallen and fellow rookie Jordan Yamamoto sticking as starters while Elieser Hernandez was sent to the bullpen. The decision should grant Gallen some temporary security, though he may need to deliver better surface results than he has through his first three turns to remain in the rotation for the entire second half. Gallen has submitted a 4.50 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 12 innings, but a 2.87 FIP and 20.8 K-BB% offer a rosier picture of his performance.

Chase Anderson RP | TEX
Brewers' Chase Anderson: Another no-decision Friday
Anderson didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 10-7 extra-inning loss to the Giants, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out five over five innings.
The right-hander pounded the zone, throwing 60 of 81 pitches for strikes before hitting the showers, but a Josh Hader blown save cost Anderson a shot at his fifth win. No-decisions are par for the course for him, though -- he's just 1-1 over his last seven starts and has completed six innings only once all season. Anderson will take a 4.27 ERA and 72:23 K:BB over 71.2 innings into his next outing Wednesday, at home against Atlanta.

Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL
Braves' Dallas Keuchel: Strong in win
Keuchel (3-2) picked up the win Friday after holding the Padres to one run on six hits and four walks while striking out five through seven innings.
Keuchel held the Padres scoreless until Manny Machado swatted a solo home run in the sixth inning. Overall, it was a strong outing for the 31-year-old, who was facing the Padres for the first time since 2015. Keuchel has now pitched seven or more innings in his last three outings, all which have been quality starts. The southpaw will carry a 3.09 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB into a road matchup with the Brewers on Wednesday.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Throws six shutout frames
Strasburg (11-4) tossed six scoreless innings while allowing seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts to earn a victory against the Phillies on Friday.
The 30-year-old began the second half the same way he ended the first -- shutting out the opposing team for at least six frames. Strasburg has won four straight games, posting a 2.39 ERA during that stretch. He has a 3.46 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, .219 batting average against and 144 strikeouts in 122.1 innings this season, while his 11 wins leads the National League. Strasburg will pitch next in a key game at the Braves on Thursday.

Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Fans nine in no-decision
Gray pitched seven innings in Friday's no-decision, allowing a run on five hits and three walks. He struck out nine in the 3-2 loss to the Rockies.
He was in line for the win, exiting the game with a 2-1 lead, but reliever David Hernandez blew the save to stick Gray with a no-decision. In his last 21.1 innings, the right-hander has allowed only three runs and owns a 27:5 K:BB in that span. For the year, the 29-year-old has a 3.42 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. He'll try to keep his hot streak going when he faces the Cubs on Wednesday.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Fans eight in seventh win
Ray (7-6) picked up the win Friday, giving up one run on two hits and two walks over 6.1 innings while striking out eight in a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals.
The lefty continues the roll he's been on since the beginning of June. In his last eight trips to the mound, Ray has delivered six quality starts while striking out at least eight batters in each of them, posting a 4.10 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 63:21 K:BB through 48.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to stay sharp in his next outing Wednesday, on the road against the Rangers.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Takes loss in Boston
Maeda (7-6) gave up three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven in 5.2 innings to take the loss Friday in Boston.
He gave up a couple home runs but was still just one out away from notching a quality start in a very difficult matchup. Eduardo Rodriguez dominated for Boston, so Maeda was saddled with the loss. His next start comes Wednesday in Philadelphia.
