  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Earns fifth win Saturday

Quintana (5-7) allowed no runs on six hits without issuing a walk over six innings to pick up the win over the Reds on Saturday. He struck out four.

Quintana was coming off a rough outing but was in control throughout this contest, scattering six singles. He has a 4.21 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 78:29 K:BB this season. He lines up to face the Pirates on the road in his next start Thursday.

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Set for Saturday's start

Lyles (hamstring) was activated from the injured list in advance of Saturday's start against the Brewers.

Lyles had a run of excellence earlier this season but logged a 7.71 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in 18.2 innings (four starts) prior to landing on the injured list. He went 5.1 innings (84 pitches) in a rehab start at Triple-A on June 23, so he should be able to pitch without restrictions.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Throws bullpen session

Hendricks (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday without issue, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

With Hendricks making it through Saturday's session just fine, there is still a chance he could return before the All-Star break, as manager Joe Maddon hinted at Thursday. The Cubs figure to evaluate all options with Cole Hamels (oblique) landing on the injured list and should announce Hendricks' next step soon.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Will undergo MRI

Hamels will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of his oblique injury, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Hamels was scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday, but the Cubs will instead wait a couple days, and provide treatment in the meantime. The full extent of Hamels' injury will not be known until doctors review the results of Monday's scan, so it remains to be seen just how long he will be out.

  • Ian Anderson RP | ATL

Braves' Ian Anderson: Fans 14 in combined no-no

Anderson walked two batters and hit another while striking out 14 over seven scoreless, no-hit innings for Double-A Mississippi on Friday.

The 14 whiffs were a career high for the 21-year-old, while Mississippi's bullpen was able to complete the no-no after Anderson exited. His 2.94 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 11.9 K/9 through 85.2 innings are all strong, although his 4.5 BB/9 still needs work. Anderson remains on track to start knocking on the door of a big-league rotation spot sometime in 2020.

  • Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Nails down fifth save

Lorenzen struck out two and gave up a hit over 1.2 scoreless innings to record his fifth save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Cubs on Friday.

While the Reds insist that Raisel Iglesias is still their closer, it can't be ignored that the 29-year-old Cuban hasn't notched a save since June 9, while Lorenzen has picked up three in that time. On the year, Lorenzen sports a 3.00 ERA and 41:12 K:BB over 42 innings -- solid numbers, but apparently not dominant enough to officially wrest away ninth-inning duties yet.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Reds' Sonny Gray: Collects fourth win

Gray (4-5) struck out six and picked up the win Friday over the Cubs, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over 6.1 innings.

The right-hander delivered his first quality start in over a month and just his fifth of the year, but Gray has actually been pitching well since mid-May, going 4-1 with a 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 43:16 K:BB over 38.1 innings over his last seven starts. He'll try to stay on track in his next outing Wednesday, at home against the Brewers.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Gets no help in loss

Velasquez (2-5) took the loss Friday against the Marlins, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings while striking out six.

While it wasn't a sharp outing from the right-hander, he also got almost no support from the teammates -- the Phillies' only two runs on the night came on Velasquez's first career homer. Assuming he remains in the rotation, he'll take a 4.73 ERA and 60:23 K:BB through 51.1 innings into his next outing Thursday in Atlanta.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Charged with loss

Kelly (7-8) was charged with the loss against the Giants on Friday after allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings.

The 30-year-old rookie put on a decent showing in his first start at Oracle Park. He retired his first four batters until Alex Dickerson broke it up with a solo homer, followed by a Brandon Crawford double. Kelly also served up a pair of RBI to Buster Posey, one which came from a double that missed home-run status by inches. Kelly is now 1-1 in his two starts against the Giants this year. Through 17 appearances, the right-hander has compiled a 4.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 79:28 K:BB. Unfortunately, a much tougher matchup looms ahead at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Padres' Cal Quantrill: Earns win in relief

Quantrill (2-2) picked up the win Friday against the Cardinals after tossing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts.

Quantrill earned his first win since he started against the Blue Jays on May 25. The 23-year-old had struggled in the Padres' rotation, which recently landed him in the bullpen, at least for now. Overall, he's compiled a 4.79 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB over nine appearances (six starts).
