  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Earns second win

Nola (2-0) allowed three runs on nine hits with nine strikeouts and one walk across 5.2 innings in a victory over the Rockies on Saturday.

The right-hander has struggled with home runs all month, and at Coors Field, it became a problem again Saturday. Nola tossed up two bombs in the first two frames; he has now allowed seven home runs in just 25 innings this season. Opponents are also batting .300 against Nola, but the home runs are probably still his biggest issue. Nola owns a 6.84 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in five starts this season. His next outing will be at home against the Marlins on Thursday.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Gets first win

Taillon (1-2) picked up the win in Saturday's 3-1 rain-shortened victory over the Giants, giving up one run on four hits and a walk over five innings while striking out three.

Inclement weather caused the game to be called after five full innings, putting Taillon's win in the books. The right-hander threw 56 of 79 pitches for strikes in the strong effort, and he'll carry a 3.12 ERA and 20:6 K:BB over 26 innings into his next outing Thursday, at home against Arizona.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Takes first loss vs. Milwaukee

Ryu (2-1) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out nine over 5.2 innings against the Brewers.

Ryu pitched well but was victimized by solo home runs in the third and sixth innings from Christian Yelich. The 32-year-old was returning from stint on the injured list for a groin injury but was able to throw 92 pitches. Ryu has a 3.10 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP, and he'll look to get back in the win column Thursday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Earns second win

Anderson (2-0) struck out five over five scoreless innings and permitted just one hit and two walks to pick up the win over the Dodgers on Saturday.

Anderson was making his first start of the season after five relief appearances and surprisingly lasted for 82 pitches. The only threat against the 31-year-old came in the first inning, when he allowed a leadoff single to Joc Pederson and walked A.J. Pollock with two outs. However, he retired Cody Bellinger on a fly to center field and sailed along until he was removed for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fifth. Anderson has a 3.00 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP this season, and it's not currently clear when he will be called on to make another start.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Fires six shutout innings

Greinke (3-1) earned the win against the Cubs on Saturday by allowing only three hits across six scoreless innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Greinke delivered his second straight quality start Saturday and allowed only one baserunner to move into scoring position. The 35-year-old has a 4.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB over 29.1 innings and next lines up to start Thursday in Pittsburgh.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Erratic outing in Cleveland

Teheran (2-2) took the loss in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, surrendering five runs on seven hits and four walks over 4.2 innings while striking out six as Atlanta fell 8-4 to Cleveland.

The right-hander danced in and out of trouble through the first four innings, but all the baserunners caught up to him in the fifth. Teheran will take a 5.61 ERA and 29:14 K:BB through 25.2 innings into his next start, which currently lines up for Thursday in Cincinnati.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Delivers eight strong innings

Mikolas (2-1) earned the win against the Mets on Saturday by giving up two runs on four hits over eight innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Mikolas kept the Mets off the scoreboard until the seventh inning, when an infield single, a triple and a groundout resulted in a pair of runs. The 30-year-old allowed at least three runs in each of his first four starts and exceeded five innings only once, so Saturday's performance is a big step towards regaining his 2018 form. Mikolas has a 6.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB across 21 innings and lines up to face the Reds next Friday.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Tracking for short stay on IL

Peralta (shoulder) felt good Saturday after throwing the day before, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers haven't officially given a timetable for Peralta, but he appears to be on track for a short stay on the injured list. He's eligible to return Friday against the Mets.

  • Chris Flexen RP | CHC

Mets' Chris Flexen: Sent back to Triple-A

Flexen was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse following his start against the Cardinals on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Flexen was likely destined for a short stay on the roster regardless of his outing Saturday, but his performance certainly didn't help his case to stick around. He lasted just 4.1 innings and gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits and four walks. He failed to strike out a single batter. Daniel Zamora will take his place on the roster.

  • Jordan Lyles RP | KC

Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Plays catch Saturday

Lyles (hand) played catch Saturday and is preparing for his next start, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Lyles was pulled from Friday's start against the Giants with a bruised right hand after being hit by a comebacker, but his quick return to throwing indicates it's not a major issue. The 28-year-old has been lights out with a 0.53 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB over 17 innings and next lines up to start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, if healthy.
