  • Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Allows four runs in loss to Brewers

DeSclafani (7-6) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks across five innings to take the loss Monday against the Brewers. He struck out five.

DeSclafani pitched quite well up until the fifth inning, when he allowed a solo home run to Domingo Santana before Christian Yelich followed with a two-run shot of his own. His pitch count rose quickly at that point and he was removed prior to the start of the sixth. DeSclafani has fallen on hard times of late, allowing 13 earned runs across 13.2 innings over his last three starts. He'll carry a disappointing 4.92 ERA into this weekend's scheduled start against the Marlins.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Brewers' Wade Miley: Five scoreless innings in win over Reds

Miley (5-2) tossed five scoreless innings Monday to earn the win over the Reds, allowing five hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

Miley struggled to throw strikes at times, but he induced a whopping 12 groundball outs to help keep the visitors off the board. Although he allowed multiple baserunners in three consecutive innings at one point, he was able to buckle down each time to end the threat before any real damage was done. This strong outing continues an excellent run of form for Miley, who's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven straight starts to lower his ERA to 2.08 on the season. He's next scheduled to take the ball Sunday against the Pirates.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Strikes out six in win over Braves

Mikolas (16-4) allowed two runs on four hits and one walk across five innings to earn the win Monday against the Braves. He struck out six.

Mikolas threw first-pitch strikes to 15 of 21 batters and induced 17 swinging strikes in this relatively short outing. He was only scored upon via a two-run home run from Freddie Freeman in the third inning and would've gone deeper into the game if not for an abnormally high pitch count after five frames. It was Mikolas' third consecutive win and he now sits tied for second in the National League in that category. He'll take a sharp 3.01 ERA into a favorable matchup with the Giants this weekend.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Brilliant in clutch win

Ryu (5-3) fired seven scoreless innings while giving up four hits and striking out five in a victory over the Rockies on Monday.

Monday's start didn't come at Coors Field, but Ryu's ace-like performance was still eye-opening against a powerful Rockies lineup. The southpaw tied a season high with 15 swinging strikes. Ryu missed a large chunk of time with a groin injury but the results when on the field have been better than ever (2.18 ERA, 3.06 FIP, 1.04 WHIP and 6.0 K/BB ratio over 70.1 innings). He will look to finish the regular season strong with soft matchups against the Padres (Sunday) and Giants (next Saturday).

  • Patrick Corbin SP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Tosses third straight quality start

Corbin (11-8) took the loss on Monday against the Cubs. He went six innings and gave up three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven.

While Corbin hasn't been as sharp of late, he's still been very effective as he hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start since July 28. Overall, he's had a phenomenal season with his 3.09 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 237 strikeouts.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Excellent in win over Diamondbacks

Hendricks (12-11) almost went the distance on Monday against the Diamondbacks. He picked up the win by pitching 8.2 innings and allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight.

Hendricks was dazzling on Monday as he carried a shutout into the ninth. While he gave up a leadoff homer to A.J. Pollock, it was a two-out single by Paul Goldschmidt that knocked him out of the game for good. Hendricks hasn't given up more than two runs in a start in a month, and he'll look to keep it going over the weekend against the White Sox.

  • Jose Urena SP | LAA

Marlins' Jose Urena: Will make next start

Urena (hand) isn't expected to miss any time after exiting Sunday's game against the Phillies with a right hand cramp, Wells Dusenbury of the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Urena is slated to start Saturday, and his hand is fine following Sunday's outing. He'll face a favorable Cincinnati lineup in his 29th appearance of the 2018 campaign.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Tagged for five runs vs. Royals

Musgrove surrendered five runs on eight hits while striking out four across six innings Monday against Kansas City. He didn't factor into the decision.

Musgrove gave up a run in the third inning and fell apart in the fifth when he allowed a four-run frame. The 25-year-old is off to an inconsistent start to September, surrendering 11 runs while fanning 20 through 18.1 innings. He'll carry a 4.06 ERA with 100 strikeouts over 115.1 innings heading into his next outing Sunday at home against Milwaukee.

  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Snags win vs. Phillies

Wheeler (12-7) allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out four over seven innings and securing the win Monday against Philadelphia.

Wheeler certainly didn't put together his best performance, but he kept his team in the ballgame until the Mets managed to pull ahead in the seventh inning. Prior to the series opener, he'd delivered a quality start in each of his previous five starts, going 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 39 strikeouts over that span (36 innings). Following the game, it was revealed by manager Mickey Callaway that Wheeler's season may be over due to innings restrictions, per Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Reds' Tyler Mahle: Throwing side sessions

Mahle (shoulder soreness) has been traveling with the Reds on their current road trip and throwing on the side, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.

Mahle might get in a relief outing before the end of the season, but is unlikely to start. "He's throwing his side sessions and all that," interim manager Jim Riggleman said. "Whether he starts again, I don't know. If he gets a couple of innings of relief, we might be able to do it in a simulated situation as opposed to a game situation to [help] him confirm in his own mind, 'Yeah, I feel great going into the offseason and do my normal offseason program to get ready for next year.'"
