Pfaadt (9-8) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings as the Diamondbacks were downed 8-0 by the Astros. He struck out five.

Half the hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including a three-run homer by Yordan Alvarez in the fifth inning. Pfaadt hasn't been able to complete six innings in any of his last four starts, stumbling to a 7.52 ERA, 1.97 WHIP over that stretch despite a 25:7 K:BB in 20.1 innings. He'll try to get back on track in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Brewers.

Blach is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Brewers in Milwaukee.

The veteran southpaw will pick up a second straight turn through the rotation after he yielded five earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings last Sunday versus the Orioles in his return from Triple-A Albuquerque. Blach is likely just a placeholder in the rotation until the Rockies get Antonio Senzatela (elbow) back from the 60-day injured list, perhaps as soon as next week.

Wheeler (14-6) allowed a run on two hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Marlins.

The Phillies gave Wheeler a 3-0 lead before he took the mound and went up 14-1 by the time he left the game. He fired 56 of 84 pitches for strikes, including 15 whiffs, and gave up his lone run in the fourth inning on an Otto Lopez double. Wheeler is 4-1 with a stellar 1.60 ERA and 51:6 K:BB through seven starts since the beginning of August. His season ERA is down to 2.59 alongside a 190:46 K:BB over 173.2 frames. Wheeler is lined up for a home matchup against the Rays next week.

Knack (2-3) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings Friday, taking the loss versus the Guardians.

Knack was called up to fill a spot in the Dodgers' downtrodden rotation while Clayton Kershaw (toe) and Gavin Stone (shoulder) are out of action. This was Knack's first big-league game since Aug. 13, and he was able to limit the Guardians to a two-run home run by Andres Gimenez in the sixth inning. Through 11 appearances (nine starts), Knack has given up more than two runs just twice. He's at a 3.00 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 52:13 K:BB through 54 innings. He'll likely get at least one more start, which is tentatively projected to come in Atlanta, though Knack could stick around longer if the Dodgers decide he's a better option than Bobby Miller.

Black (0-3) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Padres.

The Padres pounced early with a three-run first inning. Black was able to settle in after that, but he gave up one more run in the fifth, making this the fourth time in six outings (five starts) he's given up at least four runs. The right-hander has pitched to a 7.50 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB through 24 innings in the majors this season. Despite the poor outing, Black could continue to get starts in September after Kyle Harrison (shoulder) joined Robbie Ray (hamstring) on the injured list. Black is tentatively projected to make his next start at home in a rematch with the Padres.

King (12-8) allowed one run on six hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings to earn the win over the Giants on Friday.

King rebounded from losing his last two starts to turn in a quality start. A Michael Conforto solo shot in the sixth inning accounted for the lone run on his line. This was the 13th time in 28 outings (27 starts) in which King was able to limit an opponent to one run or fewer. He's now at a 3.10 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 185:58 K:BB through 156.2 innings. King is expected to draw a rematch with the Giants next week in San Francisco.

The Marlins are expected to place Meyer on the injured list Saturday with an undisclosed issue, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Meyer will no longer start Sunday against the Phillies while he contends with an unspecified issue. Even if his stay on the injured list is for the minimum 15 days, Meyer will likely be in line for just one or two more starts this season.

Cabrera (migraine) could be available to start Sunday against the Phillies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera was scratched from his scheduled start Friday due to migraines, and he spent a brief period of time in the hospital. He was discharged and cleared, leaving him with a chance to resume throwing Saturday. Even if Cabrera isn't available to pitch Sunday, he should be available to start at some point in the coming days.

Williamson did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over 4.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out one.

The Cincinnati southpaw relieved opener Fernando Cruz in the second frame and fired 60 pitches in this performance. Williamson pitched into the sixth inning before being relieved by Buck Farmer, who allowed an inherited runner to score. Williamson has made two appearances since making his season debut and returning from a shoulder injury, pitching to a 3.38 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB across eight innings. He currently lines up to make his next outing against the Cardinals in St. Louis, but it is unknown whether he will start or serve as a bulk reliever.

Manaea did not factor into the decision in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Reds, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out nine.

The New York southpaw looked untouchable for most of this outing, generating a fantastic 19 whiffs to pick up his nine Ks. However, Manaea was done in by a pair of two-run homers, one from Elly De La Cruz in the fourth inning before a TJ Friedl blast chased the hurler from the mound in the seventh. The 32-year-old Manaea has been brilliant over his last eight starts, going 5-1 with a 2.81 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 62:11 K:BB across 51.1 innings. He currently forecasts to face the Blue Jays on the road for his next start.
