Buehler said Sunday that he's dealing with minor bursitis in his right shoulder and is hopeful for a minimum-length stay on the 15-day injured list, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Boston placed Buehler on the injured list Friday, but he had been experiencing discomfort in his shoulder since his April 15 start against the Rays. Buehler proceeded to make his next two turns through the rotation and submitted quality starts on both occasions, but since the shoulder issue hadn't completely gone away, he didn't want to push through the injury and have it morph into a greater concern. After a recent MRI cleared Buehler of any structural damage to his shoulder, he's been cleared to resume playing catch this week, per MLB.com. If all goes well in his initial throwing sessions, he could be cleared for mound work by the end of the week and may be ready to come off the IL when he's first eligible May 14.

The Giants plan to use Harrison in their bullpen after officially recalling him from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Harrison pitched exclusively as a starter during his time in the big leagues the past two seasons and has continued to start with Sacramento after failing to win a spot in the Giants' Opening Day rotation. Over his six outings at Triple-A, Harrison turned in a 3.46 ERA and 38:8 K:BB in 26 innings, and those strong results could give him a case for eventually supplanting Landen Roupp as the Giants' No. 5 starter. For the time being, however, Harrison will work out of the bullpen, where the Giants believe that his improved velocity in his recent appearances with Sacramento will allow him to continue piling up strikeouts as an MLB reliever. Harrison will likely stick around with the Giants through the end of their road trip this weekend before the organization decides whether to move him into a starting role, keep him on hand as a reliever or send him back to Triple-A to make regular turns through the rotation.

The White Sox acquired McKendry from the Brewers on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

McKendry, 27, has made one start and three relief appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season, allowing five runs with a 4:1 K:BB over seven innings. The righty is merely organizational depth for the White Sox.

The Blue Jays optioned Turnbull to their rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate after signing him to a one-year deal Monday.

Turnbull will get a spot on Toronto's 40-man roster, but he may be weeks away from being an option for the big club after he was unsigned throughout the offseason and will need time to get stretched out for starting duty. The right-hander will report to the Blue Jays' spring complex in Florida and should eventually pitch in FCL games or with Single-A Dunedin once he completes his throwing progression. He'll then likely move up to one of the Blue Jays' higher-level minor-league affiliates before potentially getting a look in the big-league rotation, which should have an opening for him while Max Scherzer (thumb) is ineligible to return from the injured list until at least late May.

The Blue Jays transferred Scherzer (thumb) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The move frees a spot on the 40-man roster and means Scherzer now isn't eligible to return until May 29. Scherzer has been throwing off a mound and seems to be trending up as he works his way back from right thumb inflammation, but he still has multiple checkpoints to reach in his recovery process.

Stripling announced his retirement from professional baseball via social media Monday.

Stripling was with the Royals in spring training before asking for and being granted his release after being informed he wasn't going to make the Opening Day roster. The 35-year-old was unable to land a contract elsewhere and has decided to call it a career. Stripling posted a 4.17 ERA over parts of nine major-league seasons, making one All-Star team in 2018.

Sykora (hip) struck out six in two innings for the Nationals' Florida Complex League affiliate Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk.

Seeing his first game action of the year after undergoing hip labrum surgery this offseason, Sykora simply overmatched FCL hitters. The 21-year-old southpaw is the Nationals' top pitching prospect after a breakout 2024 campaign at Single-A Fredericksburg, and he'll likely be assigned to High-A Wilmington once his rehab stint is complete.

Manaea (oblique) has fallen behind Frankie Montas (lat) in his recovery schedule, but the Mets haven't ruled out the left-hander making his 2025 debut at some point in June, Tim Britton of the Athletic reports.

Manaea suffered a right oblique strain in late February, and while he began a throwing progression in mid-March, he was quickly shut down due to continued discomfort in his side. The 33-year-old resumed playing catch April 14 after getting a platelet-rich plasma injection, but he remains weeks away from a potential rehab assignment, and Manaea will need a full build-up before he's ready to join the big-league rotation.

Barco was promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Barco had a dominant start to the season with Double-A Altoona, as he threw 25.2 scoreless innings with a 34:7 K:BB prior to his promotion. Bubba Chandler will still almost certainly beat him to the big-league rotation, though Barco could find his way to Pittsburgh at some point during the summer months.

Schmidt (side) is listed as the Yankees' probable starter for Tuesday's game against the Padres at Yankee Stadium, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Schmidt was scratched ahead of his previously scheduled start Saturday versus Tampa Bay due to left side soreness, but with an MRI on the injury coming back clean, the Yankees never expressed much concern that the right-hander would have to go on the injured list. Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that he anticipated Schmidt being ready to start Tuesday, and the 29-year-old's availability for that contest has now been confirmed. After getting off to a delayed start to the season while recovering from rotator cuff tendinitis that cropped up late in spring training, Schmidt has struggled over his first three starts with the Yankees, going 0-1 with a 5.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 14.2 innings.
