Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Friday that Rodriguez (lat/elbow) will get re-imaged in a few weeks and could be cleared to resume throwing at that time, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Rodriguez started the season on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation and was recently moved to the 60-day IL after being diagnosed with a mild right lat strain. With the resumption of a throwing program not happening until at least late May, Rodriguez is probably looking at a midseason return even in a best-case scenario. For what it's worth, Elias said Friday that he expects Rodriguez to return later this season.

Painter's next start will come at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on May 8, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The Phillies are ready to bump up Painter's competition level after he allowed five runs with a 12:1 K:BB over 11.1 innings covering four starts at Single-A Clearwater. Next week's start will be the first of his career at the Triple-A level. Painter topped out at four frames and had a high of 49 pitches at Clearwater and will continue to stretch out with Lehigh Valley. The goal is for the righty to join the Phillies' rotation sometime this summer.

Perez (elbow) said the plan is to make a total of eight rehab starts in his continued recovery from Tommy John surgery, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Perez has made two starts at Single-A Jupiter already and will throw one more before making his final five with Triple-A Jacksonville. He's following a typical starter schedule of pitching every five days. In two starts at Single-A, Perez has thrown a total of 2.2 innings, allowing one hit while striking out four and walking one. Perez's fastball has hit 98-plus mph. With six more rehab starts to come, Perez appears likely to return to the mound for the Marlins in early June.

Chandler gave up one run on three hits and one walk while striking out nine in five innings Thursday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

The three hits Chandler gave up were actually a season high, and he hasn't walked more than one batter in four straight starts, so he is pretty clearly ready for the next level. His nine strikeouts Thursday were a season high, and his five innings matched his season high, so it's possible Chandler's next start will come in Pittsburgh's rotation. That said, if Chandler were to stay on schedule, he'd need to bump one of Paul Skenes or Mitch Keller back a day, or Skenes would need to be pushed up a day to pitch on four days' rest after his worst start of the year, so the schedule doesn't line up perfectly for Chandler's entrance into the rotation.

The Athletics optioned Duran to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Duran was called up earlier this week but didn't make an appearance. The right-hander has posted a 6.75 ERA and 18:12 K:BB over 16 frames at the Triple-A level this season.

The Athletics recalled Hoglund from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Hoglund is set to make his major-league debut Friday with a start against the Marlins. The 25-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.43 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 29.2 frames this season in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Hoglund should have an opportunity to stick in the big-league rotation for the long haul if he pitches well.

The Rangers signed Blach to a minor-league contract Friday.

Blach has been assigned to the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should eventually moved up to Triple-A Round Rock. The left-hander made 12 starts and eight relief appearances for the Rockies last season, posting a 6.94 ERA and 36:18 K:BB over 71.1 frames.

The Marlins recalled Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

Bellozo is set to start Friday's game versus the Athletics and could earn additional starts until Ryan Weathers (forearm) is ready to return. The right-hander threw 2.1 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, so he'll likely have his workload truncated as he pitches on short rest.

Dobbins will start for the Red Sox on Saturday against the Twins, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Brayan Bello is moving up a day to start Friday in place of Walker Buehler (shoulder), so the Red Sox needed someone to slide into Bello's old spot. Dobbins has pitched well in both of his starts for the Red Sox this season, yielding four runs (three earned) with an 11:2 K:BB over 11 innings. He could earn additional starts if Buehler winds up requiring a stint on the injured list.

Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Friday on MLB Network that he's "hopeful" Gilbert (elbow) will rejoin the rotation before the end of May, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Gilbert is on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his pitching arm. He's about a week into a two-week shutdown period, so more should be known about a potential timeline for the right-hander late next week. It's not clear whether the Mariners will ask Gilbert to make a rehab start before returning.
