Verlander (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Giants were downed 2-0 by the Rangers, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.

The 42-year-old right-hander delivered his second straight quality start on 89 pitches (65 strikes), but San Francisco's bats couldn't get going against Nathan Eovaldi and the Texas bullpen. Verlander appears to be turning things around, but on the season he still carries a 4.99 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB through 30.2 innings. He'll be in an excellent spot to collect his first win as a Giant in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Rockies.

Gausman and the Blue Jays won't face the Yankees on Saturday, as the game was postponed due to inclement weather

Toronto and New York will play a doubleheader Sunday to make up for Saturday's contest, and Gausman will start the early game. He'll be looking to bounce back from a subpar performance his last time out, which saw him give up four runs in six innings against the Astros.

Eovaldi (2-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing three hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Giants. He struck out seven.

The right-hander got just enough offense to get into the win column for the first time since April 1, and Eovaldi needed 99 pitches (61 strikes) to record his fourth quality start in six trips to the mound. Eovaldi has yet to give up more than three runs in a start this season, and he'll take a 2.21 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and dazzling 38:3 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the A's.

Yamamoto (3-2) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks over five innings as the Dodgers fell 3-0 to the Pirates. He struck out five.

In a battle of early NL Cy Young candidates, the 26-year-old righty couldn't match Paul Skenes as a Max Muncy error and Yamamoto's own shaky control ended his quality start streak at three. He tossed just 58 of 94 pitches for strikes, and the four walks were a season worst for Yamamoto. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next weekend in Atlanta.

The Guardians plan to recall Nikhazy from Triple-A Columbus to have him start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

After optioning reliever Zak Kent to Triple-A, Cleveland initially planed to call up Nikhazy on Friday to fill the open spot in its bullpen. However, after Friday's series opener was postponed, Nikhazy's call-up will instead be pushed back a day, and he'll now be in line to start in his MLB debut due to the doubleheader creating a stretch of six games in five days for the Guardians. The 25-year-old lefty had excelled through his first four starts with Columbus this season, logging a 3.44 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB in 18.1 innings. Cleveland doesn't appear to have a permanent opening in the rotation for Nikhazy, so he could shift to the bullpen or head back to Triple-A following his start Saturday.

Skenes (3-2) picked up the win Friday, allowing five hits over 6.1 scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Dodgers. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

In a battle of early NL Cy Young candidates, Skenes came out on top against Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Pittsburgh ace racked up 37 called or swinging strikes among his 108 pitches (69 total strikes), and his nine Ks were his highest total so far in 2025. Skenes will take a 2.39 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 39:4 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Cubs.

Severino came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 win over the White Sox, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

The 31-year-old right-hander blanked Chicago for four innings before both offenses began to wake up, and Severino had to settle for his third quality start of the season when he left the mound after 85 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 3-3. After a bumpy beginning to April, he's posted a 2.29 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over his last three starts and 19.2 innings. Severino will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Rangers.

Burke (1-4) took the loss Friday as the White Sox were downed 6-5 by the A's, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings of relief. He struck out five.

Entering the game to begin the second inning behind opener Tyler Gilbert, Burke kept the A's off the board for three frames before the wheels began to fall off. The 25-year-old righty tossed 86 pitches (49 strikes) before getting the hook as he lost his fourth straight decision, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 7.71 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB over 21 innings. Burke will try to get back in the win column in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Brewers.

Hendricks (0-3) took the loss Friday against the Twins after allowing seven earned runs on three hits and five walks while striking out three batters over three-plus innings.

Hendricks put the Angels into an early hole by walking two batters and hitting another, loading the bases for Carlos Correa to bring one home on a sacrifice fly. Things got worse in the third when Byron Buxton launched a ball 419 feet into left field and Trevor Larnach hit an RBI double. Hendricks departed the game with the bases loaded and nobody out, and reliever Carl Edwards allowed all three inherited runners to score. Hendricks' poor outing caused his ERA to balloon from 4.50 to 6.65, and he'll attempt to bounce back during his next outing against the Tigers at home.

Lopez (2-1) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, giving up two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters across five innings.

Friday's start marked Lopez's first time on the mound for the Twins since he strained his right hamstring April 8. He wasn't incredibly efficient, needing 101 pitches to get through five, but he still did enough to qualify for a win in his return from the injured list. RBI singles from Jo Adell in the second inning and Mike Trout in the fifth were all the Halos could manage against Lopez, and the 29-year-old righty departed the game with a comfortable 9-2 lead. He'll look to keep his momentum going during a divisional matchup in Cleveland next week.
