Bubic didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Yankees after allowing three runs on seven hits and four walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

The left-hander escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning, but an Anthony Volpe double in the third inning brought in a pair of runs to get the Yankees on the board. Although he gave up another run in the fourth, Bubic limited the damage by getting Jazz Chisholm to fly out with the bases juiced once again. Bubic is on the rise to begin 2025, boasting a 1.88 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB through four starts (24 innings), and he'll have a prime opportunity to enhance his numbers in his next scheduled start next week at home against Colorado.

Schmidt didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Royals after allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

Given that the right-hander missed the first couple of weeks of the regular season with shoulder fatigue, it was encouraging to see him be able to throw 73 pitches in his first start for the Yankees this year. Salvador Perez drove in a run on a single in the first inning, and the Royals plated two more in the fifth. Just one of Schmidt's hits allowed went for extra bases, however, and he'll search for more length when he takes the hill in his next scheduled start in Cleveland early next week.

Williams (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.

Williams pitched better than his final line would indicate, though he was hurt by the home-run ball -- he'd give up a grand slam to Jackson Holiday in the second inning before Ramon Laureano added a solo shot in the seventh. It's the first loss of the season for the 25-year-old Williams, who'll carry a 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 18:10 K:BB into his next start, tentatively scheduled as a tough home matchup with the Yankees.

Kremer (2-2) picked up the win Wednesday over the Guardians, allowing one run on four hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Kremer was effective Wednesday, with the lone run against him coming on a Gabriel Arias home run in the third inning. It's a strong bounce-back effort from the 29-year-old Kremer, who allowed six runs on three homers in his previous outing versus Arizona. Kremer will carry a 6.41 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB into his next start, currently scheduled for next week in Washington.

Littell (0-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Red Sox after allowing one run on five hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out five.

Wednesday marked the second time already this year that the right-hander was charged with the loss despite firing six innings of one-run ball. David Hamilton's third-inning solo home run wouldn't have been a homer in any other MLB ballpark, according to Statcast, and Littell also notably escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning. Despite carrying a respectable 1.26 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB across 23 innings (four starts) in 2025, Littell's 5.48 ERA makes him tough to trust from a fantasy perspective in Arizona for his next turn through the rotation.

Canning (illness) has been cleared to start Thursday's game against the Cardinals in New York, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Canning was originally scheduled to pitch in Wednesday's series finale versus the Twins, but he was scratched after falling ill Tuesday. The right-hander has apparently bounced back well from the ailment and will wind up being pushed back just one day in the pitching schedule. After winning a rotation spot on the heels of an excellent spring training, Canning has gotten off to a so-so start to the season, going 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB over 15 innings.

Falter (1-2) earned the win against the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out two across seven scoreless innings.

Falter needed just 83 pitches (of which 57 were strikes) to get through seven scoreless frames, allowing only three baserunners in the process. It was his second quality start in four tries and a nice bounce-back effort for the 26-year-old southpaw, who yielded 12 runs (10 earned) in his two previous outings. Falter will look to make it two wins in a row in his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Angels.

Parker (2-1) took the loss against the Pirates on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six across six innings.

Parker came out of the gate hot with four-straight punchouts, and he entered the fifth frame without allowing a run. The 25-year-old southpaw's shutout bid came to an abrupt halt when Henry Davis took Parker deep to left field for a solo homer in the fifth inning, which was enough to tag him with the loss since the Nationals' bats fell silent against Pirates left-hander Bailey Falter. Parker has logged quality starts in all four outings this season and has a 1.85 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB over 24.1 innings. He's slated to take on the Orioles at home next week.

Boyd (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against San Diego, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was a solid outing overall for Boyd, though he ran into trouble in the third inning, when the Padres tallied two runs on three hits and a walk. While he's now dropped back-to-back decisions, the 34-year-old Boyd has gotten off to a strong start with the Cubs, pitching to a 2.01 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB through his first four outings (22.1 innings). The left-hander will look to get back in the win column in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week against the Dodgers.

Pivetta (3-1) earned the win Wednesday over the Cubs, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

It was another strong outing from Pivetta, with the lone blemish against him coming on a Kyle Tucker sacrifice fly in the third inning. The 32-year-old Pivetta's ERA is down to 1.57 on the year with a 0.83 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB through 23 innings after joining the Padres on a four-year, $55 million contract in February. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently lined up for next week in Detroit.
