Yamamoto (triceps) could begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Yamamoto has been eyeing a mid-September return and will advance to a minor-league rehab assignment next week if his next bullpen session goes well. The right-hander has been sidelined since June 15 and is expected to throw three simulated innings in the bullpen session. He'll likely require multiple rehab starts before being activated from the 60-day injured list.

Olson is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Olson threw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 21 due to a right shoulder strain. The 24-year-old is slated for another side session Saturday. He's still expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks, but he seems to be progressing well.

Nelson will remain in the Arizona rotation moving forward with the Diamondbacks electing to move Jordan Montgomery to the bullpen, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

Arizona is going back to a standard five-man rotation and will shift the struggling veteran Montgomery to relief rather than Nelson, who has posted a 2.73 ERA and 55:11 K:BB over 56 innings since the beginning of July. Nelson will start Friday's series opener in Boston.

The Diamondbacks plan to move Montgomery to the bullpen beginning with this weekend's series in Boston, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

Montgomery has never got on track after signing late in spring training with Arizona and not making his season debut until late April. The left-hander has posted an ugly 6.44 ERA and 67:36 K:BB over 95 innings covering 19 starts, and with Ryne Nelson thriving of late, Nelson will retain his spot in the rotation while Montgomery moves to a long-relief role.

Garrett (forearm) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday and is scheduled to complete another Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Friday's bullpen was Garrett's second since being placed on the injured list June 23 due to a left forearm flexor strain. He'll likely have to face hitters and be sent out on a rehab assignment before being activated from the 60-day injured list.

Weathers threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Friday and is scheduled to throw another Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Weathers has been on the shelf since June 8 due to a left index finger strain but has been making significant progress in August. Friday's bullpen was Weathers' first mound work since sustaining the injury though, and he shouldn't be expected back with the Marlins until September. How the team handles his rehab should indicate whether he's ticketed for a return to the rotation or will pitch out of the bullpen upon his activation from the IL.

Warren will start Saturday's game against the Rockies at Yankee Stadium, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Warren was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday to take Luis Gil's (back) spot on the active roster, and he'll now slot into Gil's spot in the rotation this weekend. In three big-league starts this season, Warren has an 8.59 ERA with a 17:5 K:BB, though those numbers are skewed heavily by an eight-run start against the Angels on Aug. 7.

The Angels selected Zeferjahn's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Zeferjahn was part of the return package in the trade that sent Luis Garcia to Boston. After stumbling to a 5.47 ERA with a 31:17 K:BB across 24.2 innings with the Red Sox's Triple-A affiliate, Zeferjahn has tallied a 2.35 ERA and an 8:1 K:BB in 7.2 innings for Salt Lake. The 26-year-old will take Mike Baumann's spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters.

Darvish (personal/elbow) was reinstated from the restricted list and returned to the 15-day injured list Friday.

While Darvish will rejoin the Padres in San Diego on Friday, he'll still have some hurdles to clear before rejoining the active roster. The right-hander hasn't pitched since May 29 after sustaining a left groin strain. He's had his recovery delayed twice, experiencing elbow inflammation right before his expected activation in late June and then going on the restricted list July 6 as he dealt with a personal matter. The 37-year-old has been throwing on his own and even threw a live batting practice session at a San Diego-area high school Aug. 12, but it's unclear how close he might be to coming off the IL.

The Red Sox transferring Paxton (calf) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

The 35-year-old was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 12 due to a partially torn left calf, and he won't be eligible to return before the end of the regular season. The Red Sox are currently 3.5 games back of the final wild-card spot in the American League, but there's an outside chance Paxton will be available in mid-October should Boston make a playoff run.
