Stripling (2-11) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two in 5.1 innings during Tuesday's loss to the White Sox.

Stripling kept the White Sox off the board through three innings before Andrew Benintendi got a hold of one for a two-run blast in the fourth. That was enough to put Stripling in line for the loss, as the Athletics only mustered up a single run on the night. Stripling's outing carried into the sixth, but he was only able to record one out before being pulled after giving up a walk and two singles, which led to another run. He was charged with a fourth run before the inning concluded. Stripling's 11 losses are tied for third most in baseball and his 5.72 ERA would be the second-worst mark among all qualified pitchers if he had enough innings under his belt. The 34-year-old will look for a bounce-back outing his next time out against the Mets next week.

Gray (11-6) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings in a 4-3 victory over the Rays. He struck out six.

The veteran right-hander needed 106 pitches (70 strikes) to deliver his 10th quality start of the season. Gray has lasted at least seven innings in seven of his last 10 trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's posted a 4.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 71:10 K:BB through 64 innings. He lines up to make his next start on the road early next week in Cincinnati.

Cannon (2-5) earned the win over the Athletics on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings.

Cannon was finally able to pick up his first win since June 18, though he's allowed three runs or fewer in five of his eight starts since then. Tuesday was his sixth straight start going at least six innings and his five strikeouts were his most in a start since he had seven back on June 12. While the strikeout numbers aren't great, Cannon's ability to throw strikes and work deep into games has been huge for a White Sox rotation that hasn't been able to get much length outside of his starts. The 23-year-old rookie owns a 3.91 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB in 76 innings and lines up to face the Yankees next week.

Springs (0-1) took the loss Tuesday as the Rays were downed 4-3 by the Cardinals, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Making his second start of the season, the southpaw stretched out to 87 pitches (53 strikes) but got too much of the plate at times, serving up two homers including Victor Scott's first career MLB blast. Springs hasn't yet found the form he flashed in 2022 prior to Tommy John surgery, and he faces a tough test in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Orioles.

Rea (10-3) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing five hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a 10-0 rout of Atlanta. He struck out nine.

The nine Ks were a season high for Rea, who let only two runners into scoring position all night on a pair of Matt Olson doubles. The right-hander has already won a career-high 10 games this year, but his 3.38 ERA is nearly a full run better than his 4.25 FIP and 4.31 xFIP, so his ability to keep up that pace down the stretch remains in question. Rea lines up to make his next start at home this weekend against the Reds.

Freeland allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Mets on Tuesday.

Freeland was pulled after giving up a two-out RBI single to Brandon Nimmo in the fifth inning. Justin Lawrence got J.D. Martinez to ground out to keep the Rockies ahead 4-3, and they led the rest of the way, with Freeland an out short of getting the win. This was just the second time in six starts since the beginning of July that Freeland has allowed more than three runs. For the year, he still has an unenviable 5.65 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 55:17 K:BB over 63.2 innings across 12 starts. The southpaw is projected for a tough home start versus Atlanta this weekend.

Severino (7-5) allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Rockies.

It was a marginally better outing than his last start, in which he allowed six runs over three innings to the Twins. Severino also avoided walking a batter for the first time since June 23, but that wasn't enough to spare him from taking consecutive losses for the first time this season. He's now at a 4.06 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 101:44 K:BB through 128.2 innings over 22 starts this year. He's seen his highest workload since 2018, so there is some risk that he'll wear down over the remainder of the campaign. Severino's next start is projected to be at Seattle.

Lugo (13-6) allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Red Sox.

Lugo has allowed four or more runs just six times this year, but three of those instances have come over his last five starts. The Red Sox put up multiple runs in the second and sixth innings against him, sending him to his fourth loss in his last six outings. The right-hander has already set a career high in innings pitched this year with 155.2 over 24 starts. He's at a 2.72 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 131:37 K:BB, but since the start of July, he's posted a 4.31 ERA and 26:10 K:BB over 39.2 innings. Lugo's next start is projected to be at Minnesota.

Bello allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Royals.

Bello allowed two of the three runs in the fifth inning, leaving with the game tied at 3-3. It's a fourth straight no-decision for the right-hander, but this was the first time since June 25 that he failed to complete five frames. For the year, Bello has a 5.16 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 109:41 K:BB over 111.2 innings across 21 starts. His next outing is projected to be a home start versus the Rangers.

Suarez did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings.

Suarez started in place of Grayson Rodriguez (lat) and was locked in a pitcher's duel with Chris Bassitt before departing at 73 pitches. The 34-year-old posted a 7.64 ERA in four July starts and allowed three earned runs out of the bullpen Thursday, but he still owns a solid 3.66 ERA across 83.2 innings this season. Should Rodriguez miss any time, Suarez likely earned another chance to fill his rotation spot with this performance.
