Dunning (3-2) earned the win after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out 10 in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Dunning was able to get back into the win column for the first time since April 12, recording a season-high 10 punchouts in the process. The right-hander tossed five scoreless frames before ultimately being tagged with a pair of runs, one of which was unearned, in the top of the sixth. Dunning also avoided giving up a home run in the outing, making it his first start in 2024 during which he was able to do so. The 29-year-old now owns a 4.13 ERA, and he's tentatively set to be back on the mound Saturday in Kansas City.

Skubal (4-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over seven innings against the Royals. He struck out six.

Skubal began the day by allowing a leadoff double to Maikel Garcia followed by an RBI single by Bobby Witt, but the Royals were able to muster only two harmless singles and a walk the rest of the way. Skubal entered the contest with an ERA of 5.09 and only one win in eight decisions over 11 career appearances against Kansas City but quickly settled in to post his fourth start out of six this season in which he's allowed one or fewer runs with no more than five baserunners against. Skubal, whose strong outing dropped his season-long ERA to 1.72 with a 0.74 WHIP, will look to continue his early-season dominance in his next start, tentatively slated to take place in New York with a weekend matchup against the Yankees.

Wicks was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left forearm, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The left-hander was scratched from Sunday's start in Boston due to the injury and will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Hayden Wesneski will start in his place and could remain in the rotation while Wicks is out.

Hicks said he experienced a bit of side tightness during his start against the Pirates on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Hicks apparently felt the tightness following the sixth inning, though he still briefly came out for the seventh before being pulled after giving up a leadoff single. The right-hander is apparently fine, but it's still worth keeping an eye on his status heading into his next turn through the rotation, which lines up for next weekend in Philadelphia.

Henry is slated to make his next start Monday against the Dodgers at Chase Field.

Henry made his return to the big leagues Tuesday in impressive fashion, as he limited the Cardinals to one run on five hits and one walk over six innings while striking out six en route to his first win of the season. The southpaw should have a spot in the rotation locked down until at least one of the two starters currently on the injured list -- Merrill Kelly (shoulder) and Ryne Nelson (elbow) -- are cleared to return from the shelf.

Megill (shoulder) is scheduled to make the second start of his minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Binghamton, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

On the shelf since April 1 with a right shoulder strain, Megill appears to be nearing the finish line of his recovery process after he began in his rehab assignment Saturday with High-A Brooklyn. Megill struck out six over two perfect innings with Brooklyn, but he'll move up a rung on the minor-league ladder and look to build up his pitch count to around 60 when he takes the mound again Thursday. After his upcoming outing with Binghamton, Megill will likely require one more rehab start beyond that before being deemed ready to rejoin the Mets rotation.

Peterson (hip) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Single-A St. Lucie, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Peterson will likely be in store for a light workload as he begins his rehab assignment and makes his first appearance in affiliated ball Sept. 28, 2023. The southpaw, who underwent left hip surgery over the offseason, is on the Mets' 60-day injured list and is expected to be built up slowly over the next month before he's eligible for activation beginning May 27. Peterson's performance during the rehab assignment as well as the state of New York's rotation by late May will likely determine whether he takes back a starting spot upon his return or is eased back into the mix as a multi-inning reliever.

Meyer worked four innings in his start Saturday for Triple-A Jacksonville, striking out two while giving up four earned runs on six hits and no walks.

Meyer's results in his second start with Jacksonville were less noteworthy than the fact that he pitched at all for the Triple-A club, as the organization's decision to have him take the hill this weekend suggests that he isn't viewed as a candidate to fill the rotation spot at the big-league level that recently opened up when Jesus Luzardo (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Despite Meyer's success in his three outings with the big club earlier this season (2.12 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB in 17 innings), the Marlins seem committed to keeping him on a once-a-week pitching schedule in the minors wherein he makes abbreviated starts, as the organization is keen on managing his 2024 workload coming off his August 2022 Tommy John surgery. Meyer is expected to rejoin the big-league rotation at some point in the second half of the season, though he could still operate under some restrictions with his innings or pitch counts at that time.

The Phillies reinstated Walker (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start against the Padres on Sunday.

The veteran right-hander will make his season debut Sunday in San Diego after he missed the first month of the season with a shoulder issue. Walker threw 102 pitches over 6.1 innings during his final rehab appearance, so he likely won't face any significant limitations in his first MLB outing of 2024.

The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

Cannon's first stint in the big leagues lasted three turns through the rotation, with the rookie right-hander going 0-1 with a 7.24 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB in 13.2 innings across those starts. The White Sox have a day off Thursday and could get by with a four-man rotation until Mike Clevinger is fully stretched out for starting duty and ready to make his season debut, which could come as soon as next Sunday.
