Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Miller will start the second game of Los Angeles' home-opening set against the Cardinals that starts Thursday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

In the Dodgers' season-opening two-game series against San Diego in South Korea, Tyler Glasnow started Game 1 and was followed by Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2. However, with the team now back on U.S. soil and approaching the traditional opening series, Miller will follow Glasnow in the rotation while Yamamoto will get the ball third. Miller has had a decent spring, posting a 2.77 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB over 13 innings and finishing his exhibition slate with four shutout frames against the Angels on Sunday.

Due to the unique configuration of the regular-season schedule -- the Dodgers are now back in the United States playing exhibition games before Thursday's home opener -- Glasnow will be able to start twice in the team's first three regular-season contests. The right-handed hurler tossed 77 pitches in his initial start against San Diego, and he should be able to push that a bit higher Thursday versus the Cardinals.

Fedde suffered a quadriceps injury in Sunday's matchup with the Rockies, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Fedde was on the mound for the start Sunday versus Colorado, tossing five innings, allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out four batters. In the contest, he took a line drive off of his right leg, suffering a quadriceps contusion. He reportedly avoided a significant injury, and Fedde expects to be able to make his first scheduled start of the 2024 campaign Sunday versus the Tigers.

Wacha suffered a bruised right middle finger during an intrasquad game Sunday and will undergo X-rays, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The Royals are optimistic it's not a worrisome injury, but Wacha's status will be a bit up in the air until the results of the X-rays are known. Assuming it's not a serious issue, Wacha may still be able to make his first start of the season next weekend versus Minnesota.

Sheehan (forearm) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday before potentially facing live hitters later in the week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander landed on the injured list ahead of the season-opening, two-game series against the Padres in South Korea last week, but he continues to progress in his throwing program. Sheehan will likely require multiple rehab appearances after facing live batters, so he's likely to be sidelined through the first few weeks of the season.

Garrett (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday and pitch in a game Thursday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander recently progressed to throwing live batting practice and will now pitch in an exhibition contest. Garrett will begin the season on the 15-day injured list, but he appears on track to join Miami's rotation around mid-April.

Pered (elbow) played catch Sunday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander will begin the season on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, but his return to throwing is an encouraging development after he was shut down March 15. Perez didn't have a full build-up earlier in camp due to finger issues, so the Marlins are likely to be fairly cautious as he ramps up his throwing program.

Cabrera (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch in an intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander continues building up his throwing program since being diagnosed with a shoulder impingement nearly two weeks ago. Cabrera remains without a clear timeline to join the Marlins' rotation, but if he continues to progress with no issues, his absence to begin the season may last only a few weeks.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that Gil will open the year as the team's fifth starter, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

A slot in the rotation became available when it was announced that Gerrit Cole (elbow) would miss extended time at the start of the campaign, and Gil was among a group of hurlers competing for the role in spring training. The right-hander posted an excellent 2.87 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 15.2 Grapefruit League innings and drew positive comments from rival scouts, so his spot in the Opening Day rotation is well-deserved. Gil has made seven big-league appearances (all starts) in his career, posting a 3.78 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 43:21 K:BB across 33.1 frames. He should get several turns in the rotation to try to establish himself since Cole is not expected to be able to return until late May or early June at the earliest.
