The Brewers optioned Gasser to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Gasser was recalled to the majors May 17 but struggled in two starts for the Brewers, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and six walks while striking out seven across 8.1 innings. He's been better in the minors this season (3.74 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 21.2 innings in Triple-A), so he'll head back to Nashville to work on his command issues. Right-hander Carlos Rodriguez was recalled in a corresponding move.

General manager Ben Cherington said Sunday that Jones (elbow) will return to Pittsburgh and throw a bullpen session Tuesday before the Pirates determine whether he'll return from the 60-day injured list during the upcoming week, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

After making his previous two rehab starts at Double-A Altoona, Jones shifted his minor-league assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, when he tossed 76 pitches (47 strikes) while allowing three runs on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts across 4.1 innings. Jones missed all of last season due to a UCL injury in his right elbow that required surgery in May, but he's looked strong across his five rehab starts, logging a 2.89 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB across 18.2 innings. If Jones checks out fine following Tuesday's side session, he could be activated from the IL as soon as Thursday.

The Cardinals recalled Mautz from Triple-A Memphis ahead of his start against the Reds on Sunday.

St. Louis needed another starter after Saturday's doubleheader against Cincinnati and will turn to Mautz to make his major-league debut in Sunday's series finale. The 24-year-old southpaw was named the Cardinals' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2025 after a strong season with Double-A Springfield and has pitched well in Triple-A this season, sporting a 2.90 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 43:24 K:BB across 40.1 innings. Matt Svanson was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move.

The Guardians recalled Allen from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.

Allen has spent the entire 2026 season in Triple-A, where he's started in eight games and has a 2-1 record with a 5.45 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 43:19 K:BB across 38 innings. Although he's been a starter his entire career, the Guardians don't have an obvious opening in the rotation, so Allen will most likely be ticketed for a multi-inning role out of the bullpen. The Guardians designated right-hander Peyton Pallette for assignment in a corresponding move.

Single-A Wilson reinstated Knoth (elbow) from its 7-day injured list Thursday and assigned him to High-A Wisconsin.

Knoth opened the season on Carolina's IL while completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent early in 2025. After a three-start rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Knoth received the green light to move up to a full-season affiliate. He made his debut for Wisconsin on Friday, covering two innings and striking out two batters while allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks.

Eovaldi (5-5) allowed three runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out six over seven innings to take the loss versus the Angels on Saturday.

Eovaldi has eaten innings lately -- he's covered at least seven frames in each of his last four starts, allowing just four runs across 29 innings in that span. The veteran right-hander got off to a bumpy start in 2026, but he's mostly turned things around, though he saw his three-start winning streak snapped Saturday. He's at a 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 61:14 K:BB through 61.2 innings across 10 starts this season. Eovaldi is lined up to make his next start at home versus the Astros.

Urena (2-4) allowed one run on five hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Saturday.

Urena has gone at least five innings in all five of his starts in May, allowing a total of five runs with a 23:12 K:BB across 27 innings. He had some shaky moments early in the season, but it looks like the 22-year-old right-hander is starting to settle in. He's at a 2.58 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 36:22 K:BB through 38.1 innings over nine games (seven starts). Urena will need to continue working on getting the walk rate in check, as it could come back to bite him as major-league hitters start to figure him out. His next start is projected to be on the road versus the Rays.

Lorenzen (2-7) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over five innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.

Lorenzen took his fifth straight loss, three of which have come on the road. The veteran right-hander has surrendered 25 runs (24 earned) over 25 innings in that span, though he was able to limit both walks and home runs to one apiece Saturday. For the season, he's at an awful 7.21 ERA with a 1.90 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB through 53.2 innings over 12 outings (11 starts). Lorenzen is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Giants. His 10.03 ERA in five home starts this season makes him a pure fade even against the worst offense in the majors.

Gallen (3-4) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.1 innings to earn the win Saturday over the Rockies.

Gallen had a fair performance to pick up consecutive wins for the first time this season. He's now allowed five runs over his last 11.1 innings after opening May with three poor starts. The veteran right-hander is at a 4.80 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB through 54.1 innings over 11 starts this season, numbers largely in line with what he produced in a down year in 2025. His next start is projected to be on the road in Seattle.

Giolito (2-0) earned the win Saturday versus the Athletics, allowing four hits and five walks while striking out two over five shutout innings.

Giolito has won both of his starts since returning to the majors, allowing three runs on five hits and eight walks with five strikeouts over 10 innings. The right-hander's walk rate will be something to keep an eye on -- he had a fairly normal 3.5 BB/9 with the Red Sox last year while coming off elbow surgery. He hasn't been punished for his lack of command yet, but he'll need to get it under control soon. His next start is projected to be on the road versus the Nationals.
