Patrick Sandoval SP | BOS
Angels' Patrick Sandoval: Walks six in loss
Sandoval (6-9) yielded five runs (four earned) on four hits and six walks over 2.2 innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Rangers.
Sandoval allowed two runs in the second inning followed by three more in the third and struggled with his command all night. He gave up two or fewer runs in five straight starts before Monday's hiccup. His ERA climbed to 4.09 with a lackluster 98:52 K:BB through 112.1 frames. Sandoval is currently lined up to face the Reds at home in his next outing.

Griffin Canning RP | SD
Angels' Griffin Canning: Yields four runs
Canning allowed four runs on six hits and a walk over 3.2 innings in Monday's loss to Texas. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.
Canning was reinstated from the injured list Sunday and made his first appearance since July 25. He entered the game in relief of Patrick Sandoval and retired seven of the first nine batters he faced. Canning will likely move back into the rotation, but it's unclear when he'll make his next appearance. He's sporting a 4.69 ERA with a 96:26 K:BB through 88.1 frames.

Quinn Priester SP | MIL
Pirates' Quinn Priester: Falls to Mets
Priester (2-2) took the loss Monday, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings against the Mets. He struck out three.
Priester threw a season-high 102 pitches, though he'd allow at least one run in each of his five innings. It's been a rough start to Priester's big-league career -- his ERA is now up to 9.10 with a 1.92 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB through his first six starts (28.2 innings). While the rebuilding Pirates can afford to give the 22-year-old right-hander an extended look in the rotation, Priester doesn't appear ready to be a reliable option against major-league lineups. His next start is tentatively scheduled for this weekend in Minnesota.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Mets' Carlos Carrasco: Inefficient in no-decision
Carrasco did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over three innings in a 7-2 win over the Pirates. He struck out five.
Carrasco's now allowed two runs in each of his last two starts after struggling to a 12.33 ERA over his previous four outings. However, the veteran right-hander made it through only three innings Monday after throwing 88 pitches. Overall, Carrasco is 3-6 with a 6.40 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 62:38 K:BB across 18 starts (84.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Cardinals on the road in his next start.

Max Fried SP | NYY
Braves' Max Fried: Notches fourth win
Fried (4-1) earned the win Monday, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings in an 11-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out two.
After allowing a run in each of the first and second innings, Fried settled down to hold the Yankees scoreless over his final four frames to grab the win. It was a solid bounce-back from Fried after he surrendered four runs in just four innings in his last outing against Pittsburgh. The left-hander is now 2-0 with a 3.38 ERA in six starts (16 innings) since returning from a two-month IL stint. Overall, his ERA sits at 2.57 with a 1.12 WHIP and 39:8 K:BB across eight starts (42 innings) this season. Fried's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Giants in his next outing.
-
Clarke Schmidt RP | NYY
Yankees' Clarke Schmidt: Tagged for eight runs in loss
Schmidt (8-7) took the loss Monday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks over 2.1 innings in an 11-3 defeat against Atlanta. He struck out three.
Schmidt, who had held opponents to three runs or fewer in his last 15 starts, was the latest victim of Atlanta's relentless lineup. The 27-year-old right-hander allowed a season-high eight runs on nine hits while recording just seven outs. Schmidt's ERA is up to 4.76 with a 1.36 WHIP and 113:33 K:BB across 24 starts (117.1 innings) this season. He'll look to rebound in his next outing, currently scheduled for this weekend against Boston.

Framber Valdez SP | DET
Astros' Framber Valdez: Goes 7.2 innings in loss
Valdez (9-8) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk over 7.2 innings against the Marlins. He struck out four.
It was a solid outing overall for Valdez -- he allowed just one earned run through his first six innings before allowing back-to-back homers to Jorge Soler and Luis Arraez in the eighth. The 29-year-old Valdez had allowed four or more runs in four of his previous five outings (his no-hitter on Aug. 1 was the lone outlier), working to a 6.10 ERA in that span. Overall, he sports a 3.31 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and 148:36 K:BB across 23 starts (149.2 innings) this season. Valdez is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Red Sox in his next start.

Braxton Garrett RP | CHC
Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Blanks Houston for seventh win
Garrett (7-3) earned the win Monday, allowing four hits and two walks over five scoreless innings against the Astros. He struck out one.
Garrett's now 2-0 with a 2.05 ERA over his last four starts (22 innings) after shutting out a powerful Astros lineup over five innings Monday. The 26-year-old left-hander's ERA is down to 3.91 with a 1.19 WHIP and 126:21 K:BB across 23 starts (122 innings) this season. Garrett's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Dodgers in his next outing.

Bryan Woo SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Plays catch Monday
Woo (forearm) played catch Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Woo is less than a week removed from landing on the injured list, and he has already been given the green light to throw, which backs up last week's report that the Mariners aren't overly concerned about his forearm injury. He may throw a bullpen session soon, and barring any setbacks, could rejoin Seattle's rotation as early as next week.

Ryan Feltner SP | COL
Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Should return this year
Manager Bud Black, according to Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com, "has confidence Feltner (head) will pitch again in 2023."
Feltner has been out of action since being struck on the head by a baseball in mid-May, but he resumed throwing earlier this month, and he is scheduled to face hitters Saturday "without a protective screen." It's unclear how close he is to embarking on a rehab assignment, but that might not be too far in the future if things continue going as planned.
