  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Tigers' Jack Flaherty: Another solid start

Flaherty didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Seattle, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over five innings.

Flaherty punched out at least seven batters for a fourth straight outing, and he hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start during that stretch. The four-start spurt has come immediately after a pair of appearances in which Flaherty allowed eight and seven runs, respectively. He owns a 4.65 ERA and a 124:40 K:BB across 100.2 innings this season, with his strikeout total ranking 15th in MLB.

  • Logan Gilbert SP | SEA

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Rebounds against Tigers

Gilbert didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Detroit, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and two walks across 5.1 innings. He struck out nine.

Gilbert had allowed four earned runs in three of his last four starts, but he managed to slow down a strong Tigers offense Sunday. Both runs scored while Gilbert was on the mound came after an error in the first inning. Dillon Dingler delivered the blow with a two-RBI double. Since returning from the injured list June 16, Gilbert has a 4.40 ERA and a 44:9 K:BB across 30.2 innings.

  • Brayan Bello SP | BOS

Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Continues excellent form Sunday

Bello (6-3) earned the win in Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, yielding one run on six hits and no walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

The only blemish on the Boston right-hander's performance came on a Josh Lowe sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, as he scattered one double and five singles. With this 105-pitch effort, during which he fired 73 strikes, Bello extended his recent stretch of solid pitching performances. Dating back to May 23, the 26-year-old has allowed fewer than three earned runs in 10 starts, a stretch where he's tallied seven quality starts and pitched to a 2.69 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB across 60.1 frames. Through 92.1 total innings, Bello sports a 3.14 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 70:34 K:BB.

  • Ryan Pepiot RP | TB

Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Suffers seventh loss

Pepiot (6-7) took the loss Sunday at Boston, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk over six innings with three strikeouts.

Despite being stuck with the loss, Pepiot managed to notch his third consecutive quality start, pushing his season total to 13. The 27-year-old certainly did not have his sharpest stuff, as he managed to generate a subpar six whiffs out of his 88 total pitches. This performance also snapped a nine-start streak over which Pepiot had conceded five or fewer hits and pitched to a 2.60 ERA in 52 innings. Following this effort, the Tampa Bay right-hander enters the All-Star break with a 3.38 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 110:37 K:BB across 114.1 total frames.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Cardinals' Sonny Gray: Fans five in short outing

Gray did not factor in the decision during Sunday's win over Atlanta. He allowed a run on three hits over three innings while striking out five.

Gray was working through a solid outing before a rain delay cut it short. He threw a pair of scoreless frames before yielding an RBI single to Matt Olson in the third inning. Since coughing up six runs in Milwaukee on June 12, Gray has posted a 2.54 ERA over 28.1 innings. He's produced a terrific 79:9 K:BB over his last 12 outings. Gray will carry a 3.50 ERA and a 118:19 K:BB into the All-Star break.

  • Clay Holmes RP | NYM

Mets' Clay Holmes: Yields two runs

Holmes did not factor in the decision during Sunday's loss to Kansas City. He allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings while striking out two.

Holmes coughed up a two-run double to John Rave in the second inning but otherwise didn't face much trouble. The Mets couldn't muster up any offense until the ninth inning, which prevented Holmes from taking a loss. He threw 50 of 81 pitches for strikes and generated seven whiffs, marking the sixth straight outing in which he failed to reach double-digit swinging strikes. Holmes will enter the All-Star break with a 3.31 ERA and an 83:41 K:BB across 103.1 innings.

  • Aaron Civale SP | ATH

White Sox's Aaron Civale: Falls apart late in loss

Civale didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Guardians, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 5.2 innings while recording three strikeouts.

Civale cruised through the first five innings while allowing just one hit, but he came undone in the sixth, giving up a three-run homer to Kyle Manzardo as part of a four-run frame that ended his outing. The 30-year-old has struggled to limit damage since joining the White Sox, surrendering four or more earned runs in three of his six starts with the team. Over that span, he's posted a 5.58 ERA with 15 walks and an 0-4 record, continuing a frustrating trend of inconsistency.

  • Royals' Noah Cameron: Punches out eight

Cameron did not factor in the decision during Sunday's win over the Mets. He allowed seven hits and two walks over 6.2 shutout frames while striking out eight.

Cameron worked around a few jams with the help of two double plays and matched his career high of eight punchouts. He generated 16 whiffs after producing 17 in his last outing; Cameron totaled just 19 swinging strikes over his previous three starts. He coughed up six runs against the Yankees on June 10 and five runs against the Dodgers on June 27, but he's given up two or fewer runs in each of his 10 outings aside from those two hiccups. Cameron owns a terrific 2.31 ERA with a 58:22 K:BB over 70 innings.

  • Twins' Zebby Matthews: Dazzles in rehab start

Matthews (shoulder) struck out nine and and allowed no hits and one walk over four shutout innings Sunday in his rehab start for Triple-A St. Paul.

Pitching in a game setting for the first time since June 4, Matthews was about as sharp as the Twins could have hoped. The right-hander showed no signs of being limited by the moderate subscapularis strain that has kept him on the shelf for more than a month, as he needed just 56 pitches to record his 12 outs while flashing a fastball that topped out at around 97 to 98 miles per hour. Though Matthews isn't yet fully stretched out for a typical starter's workload, the Twins could nonetheless be willing to bring him back from the injured list for the first turn through the rotation coming out of the All-Star break. Matthews went 1-1 with a 5.21 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB in 19 innings over his first four starts of the season for Minnesota before landing on the shelf.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Mets' Sean Manaea: Loses in season debut

Manaea (0-1) allowed a run on five hits over 3.1 innings of relief Sunday. He struck out seven and took a loss against the Royals.

Manaea took over in the sixth inning after Clay Holmes tossed five frames. Manaea showed no signs of rust, racking up 13 whiffs, including 10 with his fastball that averaged 93 mph. He threw 44 of 63 pitches for strikes and didn't face much trouble until allowing a walk-off single to Nick Loftin in the ninth inning. Manaea is expected to move into the rotation after the All-Star break.
