  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Rare day off Monday

Volpe is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest against the Royals, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Volpe will get his first day off since he received a breather back on March 31 during the Yankees' first series of the season versus the Astros. Oswaldo Cabrera will fill in at shortstop Monday.

  • Rays' Jose Caballero: Approaching 40 stolen bases

Caballero went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases Sunday against Baltimore.

Caballero continues to serve in a utility role along the Tampa Bay infield and has started five of eight games in August. As has been the case for most of the season, his primary fantasy value has come from stolen bases and he now has 39 on the season.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Continues producing in Sunday's win

Crawford went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk in a win over the Cardinals on Sunday.

Crawford had one of five two-hit efforts in a productive Mariners lineup, his first such tally since July 11. He hit safely for the fourth time in the last five games in the process, a modest upswing that nevertheless qualifies as progress for Crawford by the standards of what has been an exceedingly difficult season at the plate. Despite the recent uptick in production, the 29-year-old's average still sits just below the Mendoza Line at .198, and his .305 OBP and .634 OPS are both also career lows.

  • Carlos Correa SS | MIN

Twins' Carlos Correa: Expects to return this season

Correa (heel) says he expects to play again this season but can't put a timetable on his return, Ken Rosenthal reports. Correa said over the weekend he felt the best he has while running since landing on the injured list in July.

There are no immediate plans for him to go on a rehab assignment, so he'll likely be out at least another week. While Correa is optimistic, he's running out of time to play in a rehab assignment and get ready for the final games of the regular season or playoffs.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Racks up three hits in loss

Henderson went 3-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Rays.

Henderson played well, but only one other Oriole (Cedric Mullins) produced any hits in the contest. This was Henderson's fourth multi-hit effort over seven games in September -- he's 12-for-28 (.429) with three home runs and seven RBI in that span. The shortstop is up to a .282/.367/.540 slash line with 36 homers, 85 RBI, 108 runs scored and 18 steals through 142 games this season. Henderson's recent success has come since he was moved back to the top of the order versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Fills box score in win

Sweeney went 4-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, a walk, one stolen base and two total runs scored in Sunday's 9-1 win over the Athletics.

Sweeney did a little bit of everything in the best game of his young major-league career. He opened the scoring with a third-inning solo shot and added an RBI single in the fourth. This was the second multi-hit effort in 19 games in the majors for the shortstop. He's now batting .236 with three homers, nine RBI, five runs scored, two steals and two doubles over 58 plate appearances.

  • Tristan Gray SS | OAK

Athletics' Tristan Gray: Gaining foothold in lineup

Gray will start at first base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Tigers.

The lefty-hitting Gray has now picked up starts in five consecutive matchups with right-handed starters or primary pitchers and looks to have displaced Daz Cameron for a regular spot in the Oakland lineup. Since his Sept. 1 call-up from Triple-A Las Vegas, Gray has gone 3-for-17 with a double and three walks.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Drives in three

Pena went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Pena ended a 12-game stretch without a home run, during which he hit only .178 with five RBI and four runs scored. Despite the recent drought, Pena has seen his power production bounce back in 2024, as his ISO has jumped from .118 to .134. Overall, he's delivered a well-rounded line that includes a career-high 68 RBI and 16 steals.

  • Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Sitting Sunday

Rafaela is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Rafaela will begin Sunday's contest in the dugout after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday's 7-5 win over the White Sox. Enmanuel Valdez will start at second base and bat ninth against White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen.

  • Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Starts in center field

Rafaela started in center field and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 7-5 win over the White Sox.

The return of shortstop Trevor Story was initially expected to move Rafaela to second base, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora put him in the outfield. Rafaela is fighting it right now and is 5-for-40 (.125) over his last 12 games.
