J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Could take cuts soon
The Mariners are hopeful Crawford will be cleared to resume taking swings later in the week, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Crawford has been ramping up his baseball activities over the last few weeks, as he got the green light to participate in infield work Aug. 3 and began a throwing program Aug. 12. If the 29-year-old can progress to swinging a bat at some point this week, his next hurdle would likely be taking batting practice.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Red Sox's Trevor Story: Continuing to ramp up
Story (shoulder) is continuing to make progress in his rehab, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
While Cotillo fails to provide much substance on the progress of Story's rehab, it's positive news that the veteran shortstop hasn't suffered any setbacks to this point. It remains a mystery as to whether the 31-year-old will be cleared for action down the stretch of the 2024 season, though he'd likely need to see reps against live pitching soon to have a chance at a return this year.

Bo Bichette SS | NYM
Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Expected to resume running soon
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that he expects Bichette (calf) to begin running in 2-to-3 days, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bichette recently resumed hitting and fielding drills at the Blue Jays' spring training complex in Florida and is almost ready to take another big step when he starts up a running program. If he shows he can run without issue, a rehab assignment would figure to be around the corner. Bichette has been shelved since late July with a moderate right calf strain.

David Hamilton SS | BOS
Red Sox's David Hamilton: Sitting against LHP
Hamilton is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Houston.
Hamilton will dodge a same-hand matchup with lefty Yusei Kikuchi on Monday. In his place, Romy Gonzalez will play second base and bat fifth.

Leonardo Jimenez SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Absent from starting nine
Jimenez (knee) is out of the lineup Monday against Cincinnati.
Jimenez tweaked his knee during Saturday's game and will be idle for a second straight contest. Ernie Clement will bat seventh and play shortstop Monday.

Jacob Wilson SS | ATH
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Plays defense in second rehab game
Wilson (hamstring) started at shortstop and played five innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday, going 0-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch.
The main takeaway from Wilson's second rehab game was his ability to suit up on consecutive days and play defense for the first time. The rookie infielder may get at least one game off with the Aviators before potentially upping his defensive workload in his next appearance with the affiliate.

Leonardo Rivas SS | SEA
Mariners' Leo Rivas: Productive out No. 9 spot
Rivas went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk and two runs in a win over the Pirates on Sunday.
Rivas once again provided useful contributions out of the bottom of the order, and he maximized both of his trips on the basepaths by eventually crossing the plate each time. The rookie infielder, who continues to see regular playing time at shortstop in the absence of J.P. Crawford (finger), has reached safely in six of his last seven games, a span in which he owns a .400 OBP thanks in part to a 15.4 percent walk rate.

Gunnar Henderson 3B | BAL
Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Homers again Sunday
Henderson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox.
Henderson's sixth-inning homer gave the Orioles their margin of victory. The shortstop has gone deep four times over his last five games, adding eight RBI in that span. For the season, Henderson is slashing .288/.374/.562 with 33 homers, 77 RBI, 98 runs scored and 14 stolen bases over 123 contests. He should continue to be heavily involved in run production from the No. 3 spot in Baltimore's order.
-
Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Absent from lineup
Rocchio is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
David Fry pinch hit for Rocchio in the eighth inning of Saturday's 2-1 loss against Milwaukee, with the latter finishing the contest 0-for-2. Daniel Schneemann will start at shorstop Sunday and bat eighth against Brewers right-hander Colin Rea.
-
Leonardo Jimenez SS | TOR
Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Not starting Sunday
Jimenez (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
Jimenez injured his knee in the first inning of Saturday's contest against the Cubs and did not return following the rain delay. Ernie Clement and Spencer Horwitz will start at shortstop and second base, respectively, in Sunday's series finale.
