Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Undergoing appendectomy
Seager has been diagnosed with appendicitis and will undergo an appendectomy Thursday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young did not rule Seager out for the remainder of the season, but it's possible the shortstop does not return. Josh Smith will be the primary option at shortstop for the Rangers for as long as Seager is shelved, with Ezequiel Duran, Cody Freeman and Dylan Moore being mixed in some versus lefties. If Seager's season is indeed over, he will finish with a .271/.373/.487 batting line and 20 home runs over 102 games.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Remains out Thursday
Montgomery (side) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
Montgomery will miss a second straight start with a left side issue that initially cropped up last week. The hope is that he can play again soon, but the White Sox will have to consider a stint on the 10-day injured list if Montgomery isn't ready to go sometime this weekend. Chase Meidroth will handle shortstop Thursday, while Lenyn Sosa will cover second base.

Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Moved up order Wednesday
Rocchio batted second and went 0-for-5 in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Rays.
That's the highest spot in the order for Rocchio when he's been in a starting lineup. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt modified the order, which was without a resting Jose Ramirez, and also recognized the good work Rocchio has put in since his return to the majors July 1 -- he's slashed .269/.308/.406 with 25 RBI over 50 games since his recall. The Guardians rank last in the league with a .197 average out of the second spot in the batting order.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Another multi-hit performance
Seager went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored during Wednesday's 20-3 win over the Angels.
Seager saw only three plate appearances before being lifted in favor of Ezequiel Duran to get some rest during the blowout. Still, the shortstop made his presence felt, delivering a two-run homer and posting his second three-run game of the campaign. Seager has five multi-hit performances in his last 11 games, going 16-for-40 (.400) with four home runs, 11 runs scored and a 5:7 BB:K during that stretch.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Tigers' Javier Baez: Sitting down Wednesday
Baez isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
Baez will take a seat Wednesday after going 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's loss. While he rests, Riley Greene, Wenceel Perez and Kerry Carpenter will start across the outfield for Detroit.

Jacob Wilson SS | ATH
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Resting up Wednesday
Wilson isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit.
Wilson has gone 6-for-20 with a pair of homers, eight RBI and four runs scored in five games since his return from the injured list. The A's will give him a chance to rest Wednesday while Darell Hernaiz moves to shortstop, giving Zack Gelof a start at the keystone.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Still nursing side soreness
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said that Montgomery is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Royals due to continued soreness in his left side, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Montgomery missed one game last week with the same injury. He returned to action last Wednesday and has gone 6-for-20 with four home runs and one double in his five starts since then, but Montgomery apparently still hasn't totally moved past the injury. Getz noted that imaging on Montgomery's side came back negative, so consider the rookie infielder day-to-day heading into Thursday's series opener versus the Yankees.

Colson Montgomery SS | CHW
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Montgomery is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Royals.
Montgomery extended his streak of games with a home run to four during Tuesday's 5-4 loss, but the left-handed hitter is out of the lineup a day later, even with the Royals sending righty Ryan Bergert to the bump. The rookie infielder missed a game last week due to side soreness, so it's possible he could be less than 100 percent. Chase Meidroth will play shortstop and Lenyn Sosa will be at second base for the White Sox in the series finale.

Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL
Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Progressing well
Kim (back) fielded grounders Wednesday, and Rays manager Kevin Cash said the team is "happy with the progression" the infielder has made, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Kim has been receiving treatment for lower-back inflammation and appears to be trending in the right direction. He's eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Saturday, and the infielder may be ready to return by then. Carson Williams is off to a hot start while filling in for Kim at shortstop, but he could be pushed aside soon if the Rays elect to reinstall Kim as their primary option at the position.

Tanner Schobel SS | MIN
Twins' Tanner Schobel: Returns to Triple-A lineup
Schobel (forearm) started at third base and went 1-for-4 on Tuesday in Triple-A St. Paul's 5-4 win over Toledo after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday.
Schobel had been on the shelf since June 15 due to a right forearm fracture before being cleared to rejoin the Triple-A club this week after completing a three-game rehab assignment with Single-A Fort Myers. Over 12 games with St. Paul on the season, Schobel is hitting .231/.348/.410 with one home run.
