  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Throwing long distance

Story (elbow) is throwing from 160-170 feet, MLB.com reports.

Story will continue to work out at Fenway Park during the All-Star break and is optimistic about beginning a rehab assignment shortly after the break. "I'm almost there," Story said. "I think we'll have a rehab assignment pretty quick after the All-Star break, not exactly sure when." The rehab assignment can be a maximum of 20 days, and Red Sox expect him back at some point during August.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Clubs two-run homer

Volpe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss against the Cubs.

After going hitless in three straight games (0-for-11), Volpe delivered a two-run home run off Kyle Hendricks that plated Billy McKinney in the sixth inning. The long ball was his 13th of the season but also marked his third in July. Through 91 games, Volpe is slashing .216/.287/.395 with 16 stolen bases and is striking out at a 28.9 percent clip.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Hits bench with righty starting

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

While Oakland faced left-handed starting pitchers in four of its past five games, Diaz had started at first base or third base on four occasions, going a collective 4-for-15 during that stretch. He'll be on the bench Sunday versus right-hander Tayler Scott and looks as though he'll be relegated to a utility role for the time being, with most of Diaz's starting opportunities expected to come against southpaws.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Double shy of cycle

Witt went 3-for-5 with a triple, a solo home run, an additional RBI and a steal in Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Guardians.

Witt smashed his 14th home run of the season Saturday, a 431-foot shot to center off Eli Morgan in the seventh. The shortstop also added a single in the first and a triple in the fifth that plated Nicky Lopez to put him a double short of hitting for the cycle. He was unable to complete the feat, however, grounding out to the pitcher in the ninth inning. WItt possesses a rare blend of speed and power, ranking fourth in baseball in steals and fourth in homers among shortstops, making him an elite fantasy asset despite a middling .738 OPS.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Not in starting nine

Chang will sit Saturday against Oakland, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Chang returned from hamate surgery Friday to go 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a trio of strikeouts. He won't start back-to-back games immediately after returning from the 60-day injured list, so it will be Enrique Hernandez who gets the nod at shortstop Saturday.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Power returning

Franco went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against Atlanta.

Franco extended his hitting streak to four games when he popped his 11th home run of the season in the first inning. It was his second long ball in that span, signifying a potential step forward in his production after he went deep only twice across 23 games in June. Though Franco's power production has come sporadically, he's still managed an impressive .185 ISO across 370 plate appearances on the season.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Red Sox's Pablo Reyes: Out through break

Reyes (abdomen) won't be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to the All-Star break, MLB.com reports.

Reyes began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday and there had been speculation he could be activated by the end of the week, but that won't come to fruition. He's hit safely in all three games with Worcester, going 5-for-11 with two home runs and four RBI. Now that Yu Chang recently returned from the 60-day IL and Trevor Story (elbow) is nearing a rehab assignment, so Reyes may be limited to a utility role once he's deemed ready to rejoin the Red Sox.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Streak reaches double digits

Seager went 2-for-5 with a home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Nationals.

Seager homered for the second straight game and extended a hit streak to 10 games, including the last three with multiple knocks. He's 18-for-41 (.439) with eight extra-base hits (.732 SLG), six RBI and 11 runs scored during the streak.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Drives in two runs

Chang went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Friday's win over Oakland.

Chang was activated from the injured list and hit ninth in his first MLB appearance since April 24. The 27-year-old knocked a two-run single but also struck out three times. He's slashing .146/.180/.333 with 10 RBI and a 1:15 BB:K through 51 plate appearances.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Set for live batting practice

Neto (oblique) is scheduled to take live batting practice Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Neto was shut down for a couple of weeks after he landed on the inured list June 15 due to a left oblique strain, but he has responded well to a recent uptick in baseball activities and could return to the Angels' active roster immediately after the All-Star break.
