  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Dealing with rib soreness

Duran is absent from the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates as he nurses rib cage soreness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Duran was replaced by Brad Miller at the plate in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 6-1 win, and now an explanation behind Duran's departure is known. The 23-year-old believes he's OK, so he can be considered day-to-day heading into the Rangers' series with Baltimore that begins Friday.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Takes seat to manage heel injury

Correa (heel) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Correa's move to the bench for the day game after a night game comes as little surprise after an MRI administered on his bruised left heel Tuesday revealed inflammation. The Twins are treating Correa as day-to-day for the time being, presumably with the hope that he'll be fit to return to the lineup at some point during the weekend series with Toronto following a team off day Thursday. Kyle Farmer will pick up another start at shortstop Wednesday while Correa sits for a second consecutive day.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Out of lineup Wednesday

Duran is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus Pittsburgh, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

After Duran was removed for a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday, the 23-year-old will be on a bench for the series finale. It's unclear whether his health played a factor in his removal Tuesday and his subsequent absence from the lineup one day later, though more information should be provided Wednesday. Corey Seager will draw the start at designated hitter while Josh Smith starts at shortstop and bats eighth against the Pirates.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Rehab delayed

Chang (wrist) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend.

The Red Sox were hopeful Chang would kick off a rehab stint Wednesday, but the infielder experienced soreness after swinging the bat Monday.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Steals another bag

Witt went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one steal in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Witt broke out of a mini-slump Tuesday, tallying a pair of singles after going 1-of-15 (.067) in his last four games. He showcased his elite speed, reaching on a bunt to lead off the fifth then stealing second before being driven in by Edward Olivares. After stealing 30 bases in 2022 (150 games), Witt has swiped 14 through 49 games while slashing .227/.266/.404.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Hits second homer

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

Crawford tied the game at 2-2 with his fifth-inning blast. The shortstop has gone 6-for-20 (.300) with three RBI over his last five contests. He's slashing .245/.367/.351 with two homers, 19 RBI, 23 runs scored, a stolen base and 10 doubles through 46 games this season. He's done a decent job atop the order since taking over the leadoff spot from Julio Rodriguez two weeks ago.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: MRI shows heel inflammation

Correa was diagnosed with a bruised and inflamed left heel and is unlikely to play in Wednesday's series finale with the Giants, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Correa was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's 4-3 loss. With an off day Thursday, Correa would get three days off if he sits out Wednesday's game. Kyle Farmer started at shortstop in Tuesday's game and will likely stay at the position until Correa returns.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Scratched with bruised heel

Correa was scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to a bruised left heel, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

This sounds like a day-to-day type of situation for Correa. Kyle Farmer will play shortstop and bat sixth versus the Giants and right-hander Alex Cobb. Donovan Solano is playing third base and hitting second.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Blue Jays' Otto Lopez: Optioned to Triple-A

Lopez was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo by the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Lopez's stint in the big leagues lasted all of one day and he didn't make an appearance. Ernie Clement has taken his spot on the roster.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Three hits in win

Baez went 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Monday's 8-5 win over the Royals in 10 innings.

Baez came into the contest 0-for-16 across his last four games, so this was a step in the right direction for the streaky shortstop. Baez is now batting .243 this month and .238 for the season, as he hasn't been able to truly get going at the plate despite some big games here and there. He should continue to see regular playing time, though he's hard to trust in fantasy leagues at the moment.
