  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Sitting against Arizona

Diaz is out of the starting lineup against the Diamondbacks on Monday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Diaz was just activated off the injured list Sunday and logged two hits in his return from his hamstring injury, but he'll get a day off Monday against Merrill Kelly and the D-Backs. Nick Allen will play shortstop and hit ninth while Jace Peterson is hitting seventh and playing third base.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Rejoins lineup Monday

Smith (foot) will serve as the Rangers' designated hitter and No. 8 batter in Monday's game against Atlanta.

Smith is back in action after a sore left foot prompted his early exit from Saturday's 5-0 win over the Athletics and then resulted in him sitting out Sunday in the 11-3 victory in the series finale. When healthy, Smith has started in five of the Rangers' last six games, but his run as a regular in the Texas lineup will likely come to an end when shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) is activated from the injured list at some point later this week.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Won't be activated Monday

Rangers general manager Chris Young said Seager (hamstring) won't be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday but is expected to return in the next couple of days, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers are beginning a series against Atlanta on Monday and Seager is expected back at some point during the three-game set. He's been on the shelf since April 12 due to a left hamstring strain but recently was able to get through three rehab contests without any problems.

  • Livan Soto SS | BAL

Angels' Livan Soto: Promoted from Double-A

The Angels recalled Soto from Double-A Rocket City on Monday.

As anticipated, the Angels placed third baseman Anthony Rendon (groin) on the 10-day injured list to facilitate Soto's first promotion of the 2023 season. Soto received a late-season call-up to the big leagues in 2022 and delivered a .400/.414/.582 slash line in 59 plate appearances, but that level of performance stands out as a major outlier compared to every other stop he's made in the minors. He's mustered a pedestrian .566 OPS over 17 games at Rocket City this season and will likely have to settle for limited use in a utility role while he's up with the Angels.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Homers in loss

Volpe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 8-7 loss against the Rays.

Volpe cut the Yankees' deficit to one with his two-run shot off Trevor Kelly in the eighth inning. The rookie shortstop has gone 5-for-11 with two home runs and two stolen bases in his last three games. While Volpe has been inconsistent with the bat to start the campaign, he's certainly shown the potential for multi-category fantasy production. He's now slashing .218/.303/.388 with six homers, 17 RBI and 13 stolen bases through his first 147 plate appearances.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Heats up against Cubs

Correa went 2-for-5 with one double, two RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 16-3 win over the Cubs.

After a slow start to the season (hitting .185 with a .624 OPS through his first 32 games), Correa is hitting .333 (7-for-21) with a home run and four doubles over his last five games. He has a 1.058 OPS over that span.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Reaches base three times

Duran went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 11-3 win over Oakland.

The red-hot hitting Duran continued to produce and is 15-for-49 (.306) with three home runs, three doubles, seven RBI and 10 runs scored over 12 games in May. With the possibility that shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) could be activated Monday, per Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News, manager Bruce Bochy will need to find a home for Duran's bat.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Could be active Monday

Texas manager Bruce Bochy said there's a possibility Seager (hamstring) is activated for Monday's game against Atlanta, Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Seager played three rehab games at Double-A Frisco before getting Sunday off. He is expected to return at some point during the three-game set against Atlanta. Seager was at shortstop for two of his three rehab games, so he should push Ezequiel Duran to designated hitter.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

    Rangers' Josh Smith: X-rays negative

X-rays on Smith's foot have come back negative.

Smith was hit on the left foot Saturday and was removed from the game. Texas manager Bruce Bochy said Smith was "pretty banged up" and held him out of Sunday's series finale against the Athletics. The utility player will continue to undergo evaluation.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Homers, plates three RBI in loss

Witt went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Witt doubled home two runs in the third and then capped off his day with a solo blast in the ninth to cut the Brewers' lead to 9-6. It was his third home run of the month and he's now posted back-to-back games with multiple hits. Witt remains the Royals' leadoff hitter despite slashing just .233/.271/.442 with seven homers, 18 RBI, 26 runs and a 9:39 BB:K over 181 plate appearances.
