  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Notches 20th steal

Mateo went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-9 extra-inning win over the Rangers.

Mateo is reportedly playing through a sore left quadriceps, but it didn't slow him down Tuesday. He led off the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning before stealing second and scoring on a Cedric Mullins double. The steal was Mateo's 20th of the year, though it was also his first since June 24. Only Miami's Jon Berti (25) and Seattle rookie Julio Rodriguez (21) have more steals than Mateo this year. The 27-year-old has added six home runs, 22 RBI, 28 runs scored, 10 doubles and two triples, though he still has a lackluster .195/.252/.325 slash line in 75 contests. Since he's nursing an injury, it wouldn't be surprising to see Mateo receive rest some time this week.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Not starting Wednesday

Correa isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the White Sox.

Correa is getting a breather after he went 0-for-12 with a run, an RBI, five walks and three strikeouts over the last four games. Nick Gordon will take over at shortstop and bat sixth.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Launches late homer

Seager went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and an additional run scored during Tuesday's extra-inning loss at Baltimore.

Seager came through with an RBI single during the fifth inning, singled and scored in the eighth and crushed a two-run homer in the ninth to briefly give Texas a 9-8 lead. The 28-year-old ended a 12-game stretch without a long ball and now has 16 for the season. He's slashing .236/.307/.426 with 39 RBI and 40 runs through 77 contests.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swats 14th homer

Story went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in an 8-4 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Story picked up his 14th home run of the season, his second over the past two games, by driving an offering from Jeffrey Springs deep to left center. The 29-year-old second baseman also struck out three times on the night. His performance is representative of his season at large. Story has a solid home run total that is marred by strikeouts. He is striking out at a 30.9 percent rate and is slashing only .224/.297/.427 on the year despite being a career .268 hitter.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Belts seventh home run

Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a sacrifice fly and a walk in an 8-4 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

Boegarts continued his strong campaign by picking up his seventh home run of the year to go along with an impressive .318 average and .391 OBP in 286 at-bats. Although Boegarts' power isn't his standout feature, he likes to drive the ball at Fenway and is slugging .538 at home this year. The everyday shortstop has been a consistent hitter throughout his career and is living up to his established standards in 2022.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Homers in three-hit effort

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Royals.

Diaz's playing time has predictably dropped off since Jeremy Pena (thumb) returned from the injured list. Tuesday saw Diaz hit his first homer and post his first three-hit game since June 3. The utility man is up to a .226/.276/.329 slash line with four homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored and three doubles through 156 plate appearances. He should continue to see semi-regular playing time whenever the Astros' main infielders need a breather.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Pops long ball Tuesday

Pena went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Royals.

Pena tied the game at 4-4 with his fifth-inning blast. He's hit safely in seven of eight games since returning from the injured list due to a thumb injury, going 10-for-37 (.270) in that span. The rookie shortstop continues to look solid in a near-everyday role, slashing .276/.327/.482 with 12 homers, 31 RBI, 36 runs scored and six stolen bases through 62 contests.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: X-rays return negative

Witt had X-rays on his right hand come back negative after he was removed from Tuesday's loss to Houston when he was struck by a pitch in the ninth inning, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old was unable to finish his plate appearance after being hit on the hand -- he wasn't granted first base since he offered at the pitch -- but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. Witt launched his 12th homer earlier in the contest and finished 2-for-5 with three RBI. He will still likely undergo additional testing and should be considered day-to-day.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Exits Tuesday's game

Witt was removed from Tuesday's game against the Astros after being struck by a pitch on the hand, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Witt went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI before being struck by the ball on the hand while offering at a pitch during the ninth inning, and he was unable to finish the plate appearance. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, and the 22-year-old should be considered day-to-day heading into Wednesday's contest.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Playing through sore quad

Mateo will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Rangers, even though he's dealing with a sore left quadriceps, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

The injury could result in Mateo getting a day off later this week, but he evidently checked out fine during his pregame workout Tuesday and was cleared to stick in the lineup for the second game in a row. Mateo's speed is his top tool, but he hasn't even attempted a steal in any of his last nine games. He's at least provided two home runs over that span to salvage some fantasy value, though he batted just .174.
