  • Willi Castro LF | MIN

Twins' Willi Castro: Goes yard, steals base in win

Castro went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Tuesday's win against Cleveland.

The Twins' utility man garnered a start in left field and cracked his 12th long ball of the season off reliever Nick Sandlin in the eighth to extend the lead to 4-1. Castro previously swiped his 14th base in the contest, as this performance marks the third time in his career that he's collected a homer and a steal in the same game. Overall, the 27-year-old is now slashing .250/.334/.394 with 83 runs scored and 57 RBI in 592 plate appearances across 148 games.

  • Bo Bichette SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Returns from IL

The Blue Jays reinstated Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Bichette went 4-for-14 with two RBI and a run scored across four games during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo. With a .595 OPS, the 25-year-old infielder is enduring his worst season at the plate over his six-year MLB career, but he figures to reclaim his role as Toronto's everyday shortstop now that he's healthy. Will Wagner (knee) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Carlos Correa SS | MIN

Twins' Carlos Correa: Exiting lineup Tuesday

Correa is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cleveland.

Correa has started every other game since returning from the injured list Saturday, as the Twins clearly don't want to overload him as he comes back from a two-month absence due to plantar fasciitis. Brooks Lee will be at shortstop Tuesday as Minnesota looks to even the series.

  • Mikey Romero SS | BOS

Red Sox's Mikey Romero: Climbs to Double-A

Romero is hitting .243 with six home runs, 25 strikeouts and two walks in 16 games with Double-A Portland.

Romero went on an absolute tear for High-A Greenville in the middle of the summer, slashing .345/.398/.673 with eight home runs in 27 games from July 10 through Aug. 25, which earned him a promotion to Double-A on Aug. 27. The 20-year-old shortstop appears to be a little overmatched against Double-A pitching, but he's still gotten to significant power, and he's ahead of schedule relative to his peers. A first-round pick in 2022, Romero has already more than doubled his career games played total this year, as he has missed significant time with lower-back issues, and he even missed time earlier this year with more back trouble.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Not starting Tuesday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Volpe will not be in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Seattle.

Oswaldo Cabrera will draw the start at shortstop while Volpe gets a break. Volpe is slashing a woeful .163/.177/.163 with a 17:1 K:BB over 14 contests so far in September.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Productive in leadoff role

Wilson went 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk and a run in a loss to the Cubs on Monday.

Wilson worked out of the leadoff spot for only the second time in his nascent MLB career and made good use of the opportunity. He led the game off with his second career triple, but it was his third-inning walk that led to his run, as Brent Rooker drove the rookie home with his two-run blast. Wilson now has a trio of two-hit efforts in the last nine games, and it remains to be seen if his move up in the order was just an outlier or indicative of where he'll primarily slot in for what remains of the regular season.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Grand in loss

Witt went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Monday's 7-6 loss to the Tigers.

Witt opened the scoring with a grand slam in the third inning and then recorded his 200th hit of the season on an RBI single in the fifth. According to MLB.com, the shortstop is the third player in Royals' history to reach that milestone in his age-24 season or younger. On the year, he is hitting .332 with 32 homers, 108 RBI, 122 runs scored and 29 steals across 666 plate appearances.

  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Falls into reserve role

Lee is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Lee is on the bench for the second time in three games and looks to have moved into a utility role following Carlos Correa's return from the injured list Saturday. With Correa set to reclaim an everyday role at shortstop, Lee could see more opportunities at second base moving forward, though the Twins appear to be favoring a lefty/righty platoon of Edouard Julien and Kyle Farmer for the time being.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Back over Mendoza Line

Crawford went 2-for-3 with a run in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Working out of the bottom of the order, Crawford provided one of four multi-hit efforts for the Mariners on the afternoon, and in the process, lifted his season batting average over .200 (.201) for the first time since Aug. 28. However, while he's shown some signs of life at the plate recently by hitting .280 (7-for-25) over his last seven games, Crawford remains mired in a power drought that's now seen him go 20 games without a home run.

  • Nick Allen SS | ATL

Athletics' Nick Allen: Swats pair of doubles Sunday

Allen went 2-for-4 with two doubles in a loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

Drawing only his second start in the last six games, Allen connected for his first extra-base hits at the big-league level since April 25. The 25-year-old infielder has been back up with the Athletics since late August, but he's drawn only 16 plate appearances across seven games overall since returning. Allen has made appearances at each infield position except first base this season, yet the good health the A's are enjoying down the stretch leave very few paths to playing time for him.
