  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Returns from IL

The Indians reinstated Lindor (ankle/calf) from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Lindor will presumably make his season debut at either shortstop or designated hitter in one (or both) of the Tribe's doubleheader games Saturday against the Braves. The April 20 return is about a week earlier than what was initially projected after Lindor sprained his left ankle in late March while rehabbing an existing right calf strain, so those that drafted the 25-year-old have to be fairly satisfied with this outcome. The Tribe cleared a spot on the active roster for Lindor by designating Hanley Ramirez for assignment.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: White Sox-Tigers postponed

Anderson and the White Sox won't play Saturday against the Tigers after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader Aug. 6. Anderson was reinstated from his one-game suspension prior to the postponement and will be eligible to rejoin the lineup for Sunday's series finale.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Hitting second in return

Anderson has been reinstated from his one-game suspension and will start at shortstop and bat second Saturday against the Tigers.

Rather than appealing, Anderson chose to immediately serve the suspension he was handed for the language he directed at Royals pitcher Brad Keller when the right-hander intentionally threw at him in Wednesday's game against Kansas City. With the brief ban behind him, Anderson will settle back into a full-time role in the middle infield and will look to continue his hot start to the season. The 25-year-old is slashing .422/.439/.656 with four home runs and a 7-for-7 success rate on stolen-base attempts through 16 games.

Rays' Joey Wendle: Responds well to back-to-back games

Wendle reported feeling ready for activation after his hamstring tolerated back-to-back extended spring games well this week, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. "I feel good. I feel healthy," Wendle said. "I was able to make some plays and some instinctual things without even thinking about my hamstring, so I think that's the goal."

The versatile infielder is apparently champing at the bit for a return to action after being sidelined since April 1, but manager Kevin Cash remarked Friday he'd talk to Wendle by early Saturday before arriving on a final decision. Wendle has been able to progress through a gradual increase in his activity level without setbacks throughout the recovery process, so a return before the weekend series against the Red Sox concludes appears likely.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Swipes sixth bag

Mondesi went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's loss to the Yankees.

Mondesi plated the game's first run in the third inning on a single to right field, but the Yankees would come away with a 6-2 victory. The 23-year-old is hitting .269 with two homers, 14 RBI and six stolen bases through 19 games in 2019, although his strikeout rate (29.5 percent) is an area of concern.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Could be activated Saturday

Lindor (ankle) could be activated Saturday morning, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Lindor has joined the team after a brief rehab assignment, but he won't get the chance to play right away with Friday's game against the Braves getting postponed due to rain. The Indians will decide whether or not he's ready to go Saturday morning, though the expectation is that he will indeed be cleared.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Serving suspension

Anderson will serve his one-game suspension Friday against the Tigers.

Anderson was forced to miss a game after directing a racial slur towards Royals pitcher Brad Keller in a brawl which followed Keller hitting Anderson with a pitch Wednesday. Leury Garcia starts at shortstop in his absence.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Suspended one game

Anderson has been suspended for one game because of language used during the benches-clearing incident in Wednesday's game against the Royals, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

It seems likely that Anderson will appeal this suspension, but that has not yet been reported. The White Sox begin a three-game series in Detroit this weekend, and Anderson has not yet been ruled out. If and when he serves a one-game suspension, Jose Rondon would likely start at shortstop.

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Reportedly facing suspension

Anderson will be suspended by MLB for his role in Wednesday's benches-clearing altercation, Stadium reports.

This has not been confirmed by MLB or any of the White Sox's beat writers. It also flies in the face of common sense, as Anderson was essentially the victim in Wednesday's altercation. If he does indeed get handed a suspension, he would almost assuredly appeal the punishment, so he may not sit out any games this weekend.

Rays' Joey Wendle: Homers in extended spring

Wendle (hamstring) hit a home run in extended spring training Thursday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Wendle has now played in extended spring games in back-to-back days, lending credence to the notion he could return as planned at some point during the weekend series against the Red Sox. The versatile infielder has been on the injured list since April 1.
