Astros' Carlos Correa: Plans to play in Game 3

Correa (knee) said he will play Sunday in Game 3 of the ALDS, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The 21-year-old fouled a ball off his right knee during Friday's Game 2, as he did in Thursday's Game 1, and Correa admitted he is dealing with some swelling and pain. However, Correa brushed off the notion he could miss time, saying that he will be good to go following Saturday's off day. He has gone 2-for-9 with two singles and four strikeouts so far in the series.

  • Astros 2B Jose Altuve reaches 200 hits with big game Sunday

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 3 for 5 in a Sunday loss to Arizona to finish the regular season with 200 hits.

Altuve reached the milestone for the second straight year, but finished second in the category overall behind Dee Gordon (205 hits). The three-time All-Star will now get his first taste of the postseason after slashing .313/.353/.459 with 15 home runs and 66 RBI - both career-highs - in 638 at-bats. He also led the American League with 38 stolen bases despite finishing with 18 fewer steals than he did a year ago.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros shortstop Carlos Correa homers in Friday's win

Astros shortstop Carlos Correa was brilliant on Friday, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a steal, four RBI and four runs scored in a 21-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

This was just a crazy game for the Astros and Correa was in the heart of the barrage. The rookie continues to impress, as he provides in every facet of the game. There might be no better shortstop option going into drafts next season with the potential Correa has shown.

  • Kyle Seager 3B | SEA

    Corey Seager SS | TEX

Mariners 3B Kyle Seager goes yard in Wednesday loss

Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager certainly made the most of his one hit Wednesday against Houston. He knocked it out of the park for a three-run homer.

Seager must have been inspired by the promotion of his brother to the Dodgers as he's been scorching hot over the last two months. Most people consider Corey Seager a better prospect than Kyle, but hitting .339 with eight homers and 10 doubles over a 32-game stretch is tough to argue with.

  • Indians SS Francisco Lindor has eventual day during doubleheader

Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor went 2 for 5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a 10-2 win over the Twins on Wednesday.

Lindor had a heck of a day Wednesday, as he stole two bags in the first game of a doubleheader to go along with his productive night cap. The rookie shortstop came into the league as a glove-first option, but he's proving to be one of the best hitting shortstops in the league.

Lindor maintains a .323 average to go along with 12 homers, 51 RBI and 11 steals in just 95 games played.

  • Indians SS Francisco Lindor singles twice in Game 1 of doubleheader

Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor singled twice, drew a walk and stole two bags in the first half of a doubleheader against the Twins on Wednesday.

It seems like the guy just does something every single day. With 11 homers and 11 steals -- not to mention that .322 average -- in 94 games this year, he's been more than even the most optimistic Indians fan could have imagined.

  • Jonathan Diaz SS | NYY

    Donn Roach RP | ATH

SS Jonathan Diaz up, P Donn Roach down for Blue Jays

Blue Jays shortstop Jonathan Diaz was added to the major league roster ahead of the Wednesday doubleheader against Baltimore, per Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

Diaz has spent four games in the majors this season, going hitless in five at-bats. In 118 games for Triple-A Buffalo, he's slashing .223/.328/.284. Donn Roach was designated for assignment to make room for Diaz on the 40-man roster.

  • Another multi-hit effort for Indians SS Francisco Lindor on Saturday

Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor went 2 or 3 with a double, two RBI, a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 9-5 victory over the Royals.

Lindor's outing was his 10th multi-hit effort of a scorching September in which he has now hit .360 and has posted an impressive 16 RBI. He has also reached base safely in 21 of 23 September contests, and has chance to close out his rookie campaign with what will likely be a second consecutive month of .350-plus hitting.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa blasts two home runs in win over Rangers

Astros shortstop Carlos Correa had a huge game Saturday, going 3 for 4 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI.

The rookie now has an incredible 21 home runs in 92 games, and it could be tough to argue against Correa being the first shortstop off the board in next year's drafts.

  • Blue Jays SS Cliff Pennington gets rare off day Tuesday

Blue Jays shortstop Cliff Pennington is not in the lineup Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of SportsNet reports.

Pennington will get a rare day off, as the Blue Jays go with Munenori Kawasaki at second base against Yankees' starter Luis Severino.
