Fitzgerald went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Friday's win over the Reds.

Fitzgerald knocked an RBI double in the second inning and added an insurance run with a solo blast in the seventh. He was stuck in a small 3-for-20 skid before Friday's big performance. Over the last 14 games, he's gone 19-for-52 (.365) with 13 extra-base knocks, including nine homers. The hot stretch has pushed Fitzgerald's season slash line to .313/.371/.633 through 140 plate appearances.

Arcia went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's win against the Marlins.

The Atlanta shortstop opened the scoring for his team when he slugged a 399-foot solo shot off Valente Bellozo in the fifth inning. Arcia later added another RBI on a single in the eighth to stretch the Atlanta lead to 5-3. The 29-year-old has been hot since the All-Star break, hitting .356 (16-for-45) with four homers, five runs scored and eight RBI across 14 games. He is currently riding a 13-game hit streak.

Reds manager David Bell said Friday that McLain (shoulder) recently suffered a stress reaction in his rib cage, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

McLain had been hoping to begin a rehab assignment Aug. 12 and Bell added Friday that it's possible that happens. The young infielder has been working his way back from left shoulder surgery, which he had back in late March. McLain is hoping to rejoin the Reds at some point before the end of the season.

Arcia went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Marlins.

He connected on Atlanta's third long ball of the game, launching a Max Meyer fastball over the left-field fence in the third inning. Arcia has hit safely in 12 straight games, a stretch in which the veteran shortstop is slashing .350/.409/.600 with three homers, four runs and six RBI. Thursday's blast was his 10th of the year, the fourth time in his career he's reached double digits in a season.

Winn went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Thursday's loss to the Cubs.

Winn singled in his third trip to the plate before later adding a two-run blast in the top of the seventh to put the Cardinals on top 3-2. It marked the shortstop's third home run in his last seven games and he's now hit safely in four straight. Over the former stretch, Winn is slashing .296 (8-for-27) with six RBI and four runs scored. He's also posted seven multi-hit performances over his last 16 contests.

Swanson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals.

Swanson continued his recent run of improved play and extended his hitting streak to three games. Over his last 10 contests, the shortstop is batting .343. It's been a disappointing season overall for Swanson, as he's batting just .223 with a .647 OPS, with the former in line to be a career worst.

Arcia will start at shortstop and bat fifth in Thursday's game versus the Marlins.

Atlanta has been forced to juggle its lineup often this season due to injury, but even with that, this is the highest Arcia has batted since May 23. He was batting ninth at the beginning of his current 11-game hit streak, a streak that's seen him sock a couple home runs while posting a .955 OPS.

Edwards went 1-for-3 with three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Rays.

A sacrifice fly in the third inning and a two-run single in the seventh accounted for half of the Marlins' offense in a 6-2 victory over the team that traded Edwards to Miami in 2022. The 24-year-old shortstop is establishing himself as one of the key players in the Marlins' latest rebuild, slashing a stunning .395/.461/.500 through 24 games in July with a homer, nine steals, 12 RBI and 14 runs.

Perdomo entered Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in a 5-4 win over Washington.

Perdomo pinch hit for Kevin Newman in the sixth inning against a right-hander and singled in a run. He then stole a base and scored on a single by Corbin Carroll. The steal was Perdomo's second of the season and first in 21 games. He remained in the game, playing the final three innings at shortstop.

Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said Wednesday that Cowles will likely miss the rest of the minor-league regular season as a result of being hit on the wrist by a pitch in his final game with Double-A Somerset on July 25, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Cowles was placed on Somerset's 7-day injured list this past Saturday before he was dealt to the Cubs three days later as part of a two-prospect package that sent reliever Mark Leiter to the Yankees. The Cubs were presumably aware of the nature and severity of Cowles' injury before the trade was agreed upon, and the wrist issue shouldn't dramatically affect the 24-year-old infielder's long-term outlook. He had been in the midst of a productive season with Somerset prior to getting hurt, slashing .292/.372/.471 with nine home runs and 14 steals over 88 games.
