Casey Schmitt SS | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Not starting Saturday
Schmitt isn't in the Giants' lineup Saturday against the Rockies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Schmitt has just one hit in 15 tries since the beginning of July, so he'll take a day off Saturday to regroup. While Schmitt sits, Brett Wisely will start at second base and bat ninth while Brandon Crawford covers short.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Homers in Friday's loss
Crawford went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies.
Crawford provided one of the Giants' five hits with his sixth-inning blast. Since his four-hit game June 17 versus the Dodgers, the shortstop has hit just .196 (9-for-46) over 16 contests. He's still seeing steady playing time despite a .219/.298/.355 slash line over 61 games this season. He's added five homers, 25 RBI, 21 runs scored, three stolen bases and 10 doubles. With Thairo Estrada (hand) out at least into August, Crawford should continue to see the bulk of the playing time at shortstop while Casey Schmitt and Brett Wisely appear set to cover the keystone.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Lands on injured list
Swanson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left heel contusion Saturday.
Swanson hadn't played since leaving Wednesday's game against the Brewers due to the injury. The Cubs can backdate his stay on the injured list by two days, and between that and the All-Star break, he might only miss four more games. He'll be eligible to return July 16. Miles Mastrobuoni was called up to take his place on the roster.

Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Pops ninth homer
Tovar went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer Friday against the Giants.
Tovar hit atop the order for the second time this season and for the first time against a right-handed pitcher. He delivered the game-deciding home run, his ninth long ball of the campaign. Tovar has progressively improved throughout his rookie year and has hit .308 with 20 RBI and 14 runs scored across his last 23 games.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: On stolen base streak
De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 7-3 loss to Milwaukee.
De La Cruz has steals in four straight and is up to 13 (caught twice) in 28 games since being promoted to the majors. The rookie also has hit safely in five straight, going 11-for-21 (.524) with three doubles, a home run, three RBI and five runs scored.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Stays hot Friday
Lindor went 3-for-5 with a home run, two stolen bases, three RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres.
He's homered in consecutive contests and recorded a pair of multi-steal efforts over his last four games. Lindor is swinging a hot bat, going 10-for-24 (.417) through six contests in July. He's up to 19 homers, 13 thefts, 60 RBI and 56 runs scored through 88 contests. He's batting just .239 on the year, but his .805 OPS is more in line with his steady production across the board.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Brewers' Willy Adames: Goes deep in win
Adames went 2-for-5 with a homer, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win against the Reds.
Adames doubled in a run in the first inning before ripping a two-run shot in the fifth. It's been a tough year for the slugging shortstop but he's starting to come around lately; after an 0-for-22 slump, Adames has gone 10-for-33 (.303) with seven extra-base hits and nine RBI over his last eight games. However, his season slash line still sits at .209/.293/.395 through 338 plate appearances.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Takes seat Friday
Perdomo is not in the lineup Friday against the Pirates.
Perdomo has emerged as an everyday presence for the Diamondbacks this season and was just named as a replacement on the NL All-Star team, but he's quietly slumping and has gone 1-for-20 over his last seven games. Nick Ahmed will start at shortstop and bat eighth Friday versus Pittsburgh.

Ezequiel Tovar SS | COL
Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Jumps to leadoff spot
Tovar is batting leadoff for the Rockies on Friday against the Giants.
It's just the second career appearance at leadoff for the 21-year-old shortstop, though he has been batting second a lot on his recent hot streak. Tovar boasts a .309/.330/.509 slash line with five homers and two steals in 28 games (115 plate appearances) since the beginning of June.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Remains out of lineup
Swanson (heel) is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Yankees.
Swanson will remain out of the lineup for a second straight game after injuring his left heel Wednesday against the Brewers. Nico Hoerner will take over at shortstop while Christopher Morel draws the start at second base and bats fifth in the series opener with New York.
