Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Lands on injured list
The Cardinals placed Edman on the 10-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation.
Edman has missed the Cardinals' last two games due to issues in his right wrist. Although his MRI came back clean Thursday, his injury is apparently still severe enough to warrant a trip to the injured list. Edman will be eligible to return from the IL a few days after the All-Star break, and Jose Fermin will come up from Triple-A Memphis to take Edman's place on the roster.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Swipes two bags against Cincy
Abrams went 0-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Thursday's extra-inning loss to the Reds.
After reaching on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning, Abrams stole second and third before trotting home on a Lane Thomas single. Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Huge performance Thursday
Lindor went 5-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional runs scored and two triples in Thursday's 9-0 win over the Diamondbacks.
Lindor racked up 12 total bases, though he fell a double short of the cycle after logging his second single of the game in the eighth inning. He'd posted four multi-hit efforts while batting .268 over the previous 16 contests, but this was a career-best five-hit game for the shortstop. For the season, the 29-year-old is up to a .233/.316/.472 slash line with 18 homers, 57 RBI, 54 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 87 contests.

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: MRI clean on wrist
An MRI taken Thursday on Edman's right wrist showed no structural damage, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Edman was scratched from the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday after experiencing pain in his wrist during pregame batting practice, but it might have just been a stinger. He's not starting Thursday's series finale against the Marlins and likely won't be used off the bench, but the versatile 28-year-old will presumably be able to return this weekend versus the White Sox.

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Out due to wrist pain
Edman (wrist) is not in the lineup Thursday at Miami.
Edman told John Denton of MLB.com that he felt intense pain in his right wrist while taking pregame batting practice Wednesday, which prompted the Cardinals to scratch him from the starting lineup about 20 minutes before first pitch. It sounds like something that might require a stint on the injured list, but Edman remains part of the active roster for now. Dylan Carlson will play center field Thursday in Miami, and Paul DeJong is at shortstop.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Out with heel contusion
Swanson (heel) is not in the lineup Thursday versus the Brewers.
Swanson was lifted from Wednesday's game after suffering a left heel contusion when he planted awkwardly on the first-base bag in the fifth inning. The hope is that he will be able to return for Friday's series opener at Yankee Stadium. Nico Hoerner is starting at shortstop and batting second for the Cubs in Thursday's series finale at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Phillies' Trea Turner: Ties game with solo homer
Turner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's victory over the Rays.
Turner reached base on a single in his second trip to the plate but was quickly returned to the dugout after a double-play ball in the following at-bat. However, he came right back in the top of the fifth and launched a hanging slider from Yonny Chirinos into the foul pole in left field to open the frame, tying the game at 4-4. It was only Turner's second home run since June 5 and marked his first RBI so far in July. He's now recorded multiple hits in three of his last six games.

Brewers' Willy Adames: Swats homer in loss
Adames went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday in a loss to the Cubs.
Adames broke a 1-1 tie with a solo shot in the sixth inning. For a while it looked like that would hold up as the game-winner, but a ninth-inning Chicago comeback turned the outcome around. The long ball was Adames' first since June 23. It extended his modest hitting streak to six contests, during which he's batting .308 with five extra-base hits and five RBI.
