  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Slugs seventh homer

Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Nationals.

The shortstop snapped an 18-game homer drought that extended back to April 30, launching his seventh homer of the year off MacKenzie Gore in the first inning. Bogaerts batted only .176 (12-for-68) during his power outage with just three RBI, but this performance could be a sign he's about to turn things around.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Launches first big-league homer

McLain went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Cardinals.

The rookie launched his first career homer in the third inning, driving a two-run shot the other way to right field off Adam Wainwright. McLain was also caught stealing for the first time in the majors, but the 23-year-old shortstop has otherwise had a solid start to his big-league career, batting .259 (7-for-27) through seven games with three doubles, five RBI and seven runs.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Sitting versus lefty

Wendle isn't starting Tuesday against the Rockies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

With southpaw Austin Gomber set to start on the mound for Colorado, Wendle will begin Tuesday's contest in the dugout. Jon Berti will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wendle's place.

  • Giants' Casey Schmitt: Gets first day off Tuesday

Schmitt is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.

This is the first day off for Schmitt since he joined the Giants' major-league roster May 9. Brandon Crawford is also sitting Tuesday. Thairo Estrada will play shortstop and J.D. Davis will cover first base. Brett Wisely is at second.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Records steal in loss

Edman went 0-for-5 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Reds.

Edman wasn't able to get his bat going in his first turn at leadoff since May 13, but he at least picked up his seventh steal of the season. The versatile 28-year-old has gone 12-for-26 (.462) over his last eight contests with a home run, four steals and three RBI in that span. He's slashing .277/.333/.466 on the season.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Four RBI in extra-inning win

DeJong went 2-for-5 with a RBI double and three-run home run in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Reds in 10 innings.

DeJong hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the second to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead and tied the game at 5-5 with an RBI double in the eighth. He struck out in his other three plate appearances, but it was still a successful day at the plate for the shortstop. After a slow start in the power department, DeJong has picked up his slugging of late and is slashing .267/.362/.600 with six homers and 14 RBI over 17 appearances in May.

  • Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Hits go-ahead grand slam in win

Marcano went 2-for-3 with a walk, a grand slam and one steal in Monday's 6-4 victory over the Rangers.

Marcano singled in the fourth and proceeded to steal second, marking his second swipe of the year, but he was stranded to end the inning. He walked in his next at-bat and hit a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh to stake the Pirates to a 6-1 lead. Marcano has done an admirable job filling in for Oneil Cruz (ankle), but the former's overall numbers are less than spectacular. However, he's picked up his offensive game of late and is slashing .321/.367/.607 with four extra-base hits and seven RBI over his past 11 games (28 at-bats).

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Heating up at plate

Marte is hitting .365 with seven home runs, four steals and a 12:8 K:BB in his last 85 at-bats at Double-A Chattanooga.

Marte got off to a slow start in his first exposure to Double-A pitching, hitting .186 with 17 strikeouts in his first 15 games, but he has been dialed in since then. He has made 25 starts at shortstop and nine starts at third base, with the hot corner being his most likely long-term home.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Launches seventh homer

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader sweep of the Guardians.

After going 0-for-4 in the matinee, the shortstop got some revenge against his former club in the nightcap by spoiling Shane Bieber's shutout bid with a blast to left-center field in the sixth inning. Lindor is picking up the pace at the plate, and over the last 15 games he's slashing .277/.309/.431 with two of his seven homers on the year.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Racks up three hits

Berti went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Giants.

Berti's playing time has been slipping of late, but he was productive out of the leadoff spot Sunday. This was his fifth multi-hit effort in 15 games in May. The versatile speedster is slashing .280/.324/.364 with two home runs, nine RBI, 18 runs scored and seven stolen bases through 42 contests this season. He should be in the lineup versus southpaws, and his contact-hitting approach could also earn him some time versus right-handers when he's hot.
