  • Cubs' Reginald Preciado: Back in action at Single-A

Preciado (knee) has gone 1-for-8 with an RBI and a stolen base in two games since being reinstated from Single-A Myrtle Beach's 7-day injured list Thursday.

Preciado last played for Myrtle Beach on June 12 before making his return to action for the affiliate nearly two and a half months later following a left knee injury. The switch-hitting 19-year-old is slashing .211/.274/.303 across 158 plate appearances on the season for Myrtle Beach.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Racks up three hits

Crawford went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Twins.

Crawford went 8-for-30 (.267) with one home run, one double, four RBI and two runs scored during the Giants' eight-game road trip that concluded Sunday. He was their most effective hitter in this loss. For the season, the veteran shortstop has struggled to a .225/.306/.347 slash line with seven home runs, 41 RBI, 36 runs scored and one stolen base through 90 contests, though he's still seeing a near-everyday role when healthy.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Leadoff triple in win

Cruz went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Sunday's victory over Philadelphia.

Cruz got things started with a bang as he crushed a triple to center field to lead off the game. The triple was his second of the season, which is a little surprising given his 99th percentile sprint speed and elite exit velocity. Despite the game-changing tools, Cruz has failed to put it all together, slashing .199/.250/.398 in the majors on the season.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Loses hold of regular role

DeJong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

DeJong is on the bench for the fifth time in six games and appears to have ceded his everyday role to Brendan Donovan, who has picked up steady run of late at designated hitter and multiple infield and outfield spots while Tommy Edman has shifted over to DeJong's spot at shortstop. The downturn in playing time comes after DeJong has gone 2-for-37 with 19 strikeouts over his last 14 games.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Sitting against lefty

Wendle is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

After two straight two-hit performances, the lefty-hitting Wendle will bow out of the lineup against Dodgers southpaw Julio Urias. Charles Leblanc will pick up a start at second base in Wendle's stead, while Jon Berti shifts over to third base.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Hits two-run homer

Adames went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Cubs.

Adames knocked in Christian Yelich on a two-run blast in the eighth. It was Adames' 26th homer on the year, his sixth this month, and his second in his last three games. The shortstop has found some consistency lately, going 10-for-his-last-31 and improving his batting average from .218 to .226 during that span. With 122 strikeouts to 93 hits on the year, the batting average upside is limited for Adames, but the power is undeniable.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Knocks in three

Perdomo went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 10-5 victory over the White Sox.

Perdomo knocked in Christian Walker and Jake McCarthy on a second-inning single, then sent McCarthy home on another single in the eighth. Perdomo came around to score from third thanks to a heads-up play on a groundout. The shortstop has had a rough season, batting .191 on the year and .143 this month. He has gone 3 for his last 11 but went hitless in his prior 17 at-bats.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Reaches three times Saturday

Berti went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

Berti scored the Marlins' first run when he singled, stole second base and came around to cross the plate on a Brian Anderson single in the fourth inning. The speedster also helped generate the game-winning run in the sixth, beating out an infield single to move Joey Wendle -- who would go on to score the decisive tally -- to second base. Since returning from a stint on the injured list Aug. 12, Berti is batting .234 with six walks and three stolen bases over 13 games. He leads the majors with 31 thefts on the campaign.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Stuck on bench again

DeJong will be on the bench Saturday against Atlanta, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

DeJong has now sat for four of the last five games, a move that's likely linked to his .054/.167/.135 slash line over his last 13 games. He's struck out at a 45.2 percent clip during that slump. Tommy Edman will again handle shortstop in his absence.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: Rehab assignment begins Saturday

Arcia (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Arcia has been on the injured list since Aug. 10, and the club has been targeting a September return. The 28-year-old's rehab assignment should be the final step in his recovery process, but he'll likely need to appear in several minor-league games prior to rejoining the big-league club. If he feels good following his rehab games, he'll likely be in the mix to return from the injured list sometime next week.
