  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Marlins' Joey Wendle: Drives in three Friday

Wendle went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.

The utility infielder had gone 10 straight games without an RBI heading into Friday, but Wendle broke out with a two-run double in the sixth inning and an RBI single in the seventh. The 32-year-old is having a tough August in general, slashing .179/.210/.244 over 22 games with a 2:15 BB:K, zero homers, three steals, three runs scored and six RBI.

  • Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Absent from Friday's lineup

Marcano isn't starting Friday against the Phillies.

Marcano will get a day off after going 3-for-18 with two doubles, three RBI, a run, a walk and three strikeouts in his last five games. Greg Allen will start in left field while Rodolfo Castro handles second base.

  • Pablo Reyes RF | SD

Brewers' Pablo Reyes: Sent to minors

Reyes was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Reyes was recalled to provide extra depth Tuesday and got into a pair of games off the bench, going 0-for-1 with a hit by pitch. Jace Peterson (elbow) returned from the injured list to fill that utility role Friday, so Reyes will head back to the minors.

  • Paul DeJong SS | NYY

    Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Sitting Friday

DeJong will be on the bench Friday against Atlanta, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

DeJong appeared to have figured things out in the minors following his early May demotion, and he returned in late July to post an 1.108 OPS in his first 13 games back. He's fallen off a cliff since then, grabbing just two hits in his last 12 games while striking out 19 times. Tommy Edman will start at shortstop Friday for the third time in four games.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Shows off speed Thursday

Edman went 3-for-5 with a triple and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-3 win over the Cubs.

The steal put Edman at 25 for the year, which ties him for third in the majors with Ronald Acuna and Cedric Mullins. Edman's batted .268 with a .743 OPS, four steals, two home runs, eight RBI and 13 runs scored through 22 games in August. Lars Nootbaar appears to have taken over leadoff duties against right-handed pitchers while Dylan Carlson does the same against most lefties, leaving Edman in a spot further down in the lineup.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Nabs 14th steal

Lindor went 0-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Rockies.

He's reached base safely in 10 straight games, posting a .310/.370/.429 slash line over that stretch with a 4:5 BB:K. Lindor also has three steals during that stretch, giving him 14 on the year, and if he keeps up that pace on the basepaths, he'll have a shot at his third career 20-20 season and his first since 2019.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Reaches base five times in win

Turner went 2-for-2 with a double, three walks and three runs in Wednesday's 12-6 rout of Milwaukee.

Turner typically isn't eager to take free passes, but he reached three times via walk Wednesday for the first time this season in addition to notching two hits. The All-Star shortstop hasn't homered in nearly three weeks, but that hasn't stopped him from being productive -- he's slashing .342/.400/.425 with 17 runs, six doubles, eight RBI and two stolen bases over 18 contests since his last long ball. Turner and teammate Freddie Freeman are in a close battle for the major-league hit lead -- through Wednesday, Freeman's 156 base knocks are one more than Turner's 155.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Slugs 25th homer

Adames went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk, two total runs and three total RBI in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Adames gave Milwaukee an early lead with his first-inning solo shot off Andrew Heaney, but the Dodgers dominated the rest of the way. The long ball was the shortstop's 25th of the campaign, tying the career-high mark he established last season. Adames' 73 RBI are also tied for his career-best mark, but his .226 batting average and .291 on-base percentage are each the worst across his five big-league campaigns.

  • Marco Luciano SS | NYY

Giants' Marco Luciano: Dealing with leg tightness

Luciano was removed from High-A Eugene's game Wednesday as a precaution due to leg tightness, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

The 20-year-old was sidelined two months by a lower-back strain and only returned from the injured list last week, but his exit from Wednesday's contest is unrelated and appears minor. Luciano, who is the Giants' top prospect, could rejoin Eugene's lineup within the next few days.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Productive in rout of Bucs

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 14-2 win over the Pirates.

The shortstop was right in the thick of two offensive eruptions for Atlanta as the team racked up five runs in the fourth inning and another seven in the eighth. Swanson is batting .271 (26-for-96) through 23 games in August with only one homer and two steals, but he has piled up 14 runs and 18 RBI.
