X-rays on Seager's bruised wrist came back negative Wednesday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.

Seager went 2-for-3 for his third straight multi-hit game Wednesday, but suffered a minor bone bruise in the process. The Dodgers have an off day Thursday, which will give him some extra time to rest. However, he will still be considered day-to-day going forward.

Seager (wrist) has a minor bone bruise and will get X-rays as a precaution, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Seager is not expected to miss any time as of this moment, and this comes at a good time with the Dodgers having an off day Thursday. During Wednesday's contest, Seager went 2-for-3, marking his third consecutive multi-hit game. He has been tearing it up throughout the season, and will be considered day-to-day until more information comes out.

Crawford went 2-for-4 and provided all the game's offense with a solo shot to beat the Marlins 1-0 on Wednesday.

After tying the NL record with seven hits in Monday's 14-inning game, the shortstop added two more on Wednesday and finished the series 9-for-16. Crawford's fourth-inning blast was his 11th of the season and boosted his RBI total to 71 for the year, third-most among shortstops behind only the Rockies' Trevor Story (72) and the Astros' Carlos Correa (74).

Noonan, whose contract was selected from Triple-A on Wednesday, is expected to get the bulk of the playing time at shortstop for the Padres going forward, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports.

The Padres have been pretty obvious in their attempts to phase Alexei Ramirez out of regular playing time in an effort to get a look at their younger players, so this makes sense. Noonan, 27, was hitting .321/.353/.445 with four home runs at Triple-A, but he is not a prospect, and is on his third organization while only having 135 career plate appearances in the big leagues under his belt. That said, the fact that he qualifies at shortstop and is in line for regular at-bats makes him interesting in NL-only formats.

Noonan's contract was selected by the Padres on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old journeyman minor leaguer with just 135 career plate appearances in the majors, Noonan was hitting .321/.353/.445 with four home runs in 335 plate appearances for Triple-A El Paso prior to the promotion. He will take the place of Jose Rondon and could earn somewhat regular playing time at shortstop, considering the Padres seem to have soured on Alexei Ramirez.

Ahmed (hip) is expected to receive a cortisone shot, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

After having a second examination, Ahmed's initial diagnosis of having a hip impingement was confirmed. More information as to when he'll be activated from the DL should be known after he receives the cortisone injection. In the meantime, Chris Owings will continue to start at shortstop for the Diamondbacks.

Baez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Angels, Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald reports.

After seeing action in 34 consecutive games, Baez will now be held out of the starting lineup for the second game in the Cubs' last three. His recent struggles at the plate could be a reason, as he's managed just three hits in his last 26 at-bats (.115) to go along with 13 strikeouts. Ben Zobrist is replacing him at second Tuesday, batting fourth.

Crawford had a day to remember at the plate on Monday, going 7-for-8 with two RBI and a run scored against the Marlins.

Crawford's seven-hit night raised his batting average a full 13 points in one game. The seven hits are more than he had come up with in his previous 11 games combined. He set a new San Francisco Giants single-game record with the seven-hit day. Crawford has 35 extra-base hits on the season, including 10 home runs, to go along with 70 RBI.

Baez is in the lineup Sunday against the Athletics.

Baez will get the nod to start at second base as Ben Zobrist moves out to right field for Sunday's contest. Baez has struggled mightily in recent outings, going just 2-for-22 with 12 strikeouts over the last seven days.

Cecchini went 4-for-5 at the plate Saturday and is now 11 for his last 18, upping his average to .324 on the season.

Cecchini has moved from a defense first shortstop to one whose bat likely should play in the majors, though part of his explosion has to be discounted due to the thin air in Las Vegas. He still is manning shortstop. but the trade of Dilson Herrera to Cincinnati could result in moving Cecchini to second base to see if he can play the position.
